Hi. We got a MF285 with an Allied 590 loader. I am new to tractors and cattle. I have alot of questions for you. I pick up 1600# hay bales with spears welded to the top of the bucket. Is the tractor able to handle that? Also 3pt doesn't lift and pto wont stop.
Happy to help if I can! The 285 is a great model of tractor, so congratulations! I pick up round bales with mine all the time. The 285 is a very robust machine. Mine has a Massey Ferguson “246” quick attach loader on it. They did come with different options for front tires and rims, plus a lot of them have been changed over time. As you can see in this video mine has very heavy duty front rims and tires, same as the ones on my 1135. The PTO clutch needs to be done. Common enough problem. We need to do ours as well. Usually won’t spin if it’s off and there is a load on but it can. I have no idea when we’ll get around to fixing ours but I will film it and post here. The 3pt could be a lot of things. Might need to do the pump which is located in the transmission area. Sometimes can be the seal kit in the pump if water might have gotten in and frozen over winter (assuming it freezes where you are). Would need to split the tractor. Would be a good idea to do that and the PTO job at the same time although I don’t believe you need to split the tractor to fix the PTO (I’m not certain).

@@masseymannick I seen the video of your mf285. Our tractor has the same front axle and rims. We are very happy with the tractor.
