In 2014, stage 5 of the TdF over the cobbles Team Sky lost Froome (even before the cobbles!). G switched his focus to Richie Porte and led (dragged?) him through the field. Porte went from 18th to 8th on GC that day. Ultimately the effort proved in vain, but it showed G's strength over the cobbles.

Yeah I guess you're right technically the stripped title wins always feel a bit weird
@@thecyclingdane Indeed. I also consider Contador to have won 9 grand tours for this reason, even though I know it is wrong in the eyes of many people. That said, Bala's doping ban points to a more severe wrongdoing than what was the case for Contador, and as such I have no problem taking a different stance on the two riders.
