This is the soundtrack from "Hell Spawn".. Hell Spawn is a movie about a military soldier/assassin (Simmons) who is betrayed by a covert government agency head on a mission. After Simmons dies from a gas fire, he is taken to Hell where the Devil offers him a deal: If he became his eternal servant, Simmons would have the chance to go back to Earth and see his beloved fiancee.. Simmons accepted the offer but when he went back to Earth, five years had already passed.. And his fiancee was now married to his best friend.. raising the daughter he never got the chance to know..
I consider the lyrics of this song, and the song itself, really touching and of course Matt Barlow (Iced Earth) couldn't have said it better, so i made this video to enjoy it as much as i do :) Thanx ;p

This song is based on a conversation I had with Jon Shaffer in 1983 after our (evil?) pastor at the church (Yeah, I used to go to Sunday School with Jon, how's that for weird?!) talked about how we are precreated to live forever. We do not have a choice, we are blessed/cursed to eternal life no matter what we think about the situation. This song is about what happens in the case that heaven is real and we have first been "saved" then rejected it, lived our lives, then after our deaths, we are then surprised by the gates of heaven and whether God still welcomes us after being saved, then rejecting. It could be the infinite caring of our lord, or an eternal curse. What if we just want to fade away, are we not allowed to? That's the question of heaven.
