This was back in 1998, is still nowadays, and will always be the best piece of music ever made. Will never get tired of listening. And even if there is a break, when i come back it hits me even harder! Hail Barlow! Hail Schaffer!
Doctor: You have 10 minutes left to live Me: I want to listen to "Something Wicked Trilogy" by Iced Earth Doctor: But that's 20 minutes God: It's alright
I had the honor of meeting Iced Earth while Matt Barlowe was still singing for them. Shaking Matt and John's hands was something I will never ever forget. I love this band, and always will. This trilogy is pure awesomeness.
Jonathan Schaeffer is the lead singer of this album and is GOD vocally. Matthew Barlowe, Bruce Dickinson, Timothy "ripper" owens are all amazing in their own right but mere pale imitators compared to Jonathon
These three songs along with Dante's Inferno are the reasons I got into this band almost 6 years ago now, and I've loved every damn minute of music from this band ever since.
Actually, he got the concept from the book of Genesis during the time Enoch was walking with God, and the "watchers" were perverting mankind. And many things Enoch saw when he was "taken" to be with God.
What a masterpiece!!!!!. This sound is under and inside my veins... I am in extasy when i listen it... Pure metal!! Hail to all of you my metal brothers..... ✊
everyone saying this is about the Antichrist needs to really know more about the band you are listening to. this is a concept song about their band mascot, Set. the guy on the cover here. when iced earth did the dark saga(concept album about the comic book character, Spawn), they became friends with Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and not only does his company do all of their artwork now, but Todd helped them create their mascot, Set because iced earth always loved Eddie, iron maidens mascot. once the character was created they started working on a back story for Set and even made a comic for him with Todd McFarlane, and this song is a precursor to the character Set and the comic book.
These were 3 favorite songs to listen to in high school! when everybody was like who is iced earth? i was rocking out to these guys and i fucking love them! Also the first 3 iced earth songs i learned on guitar! Rock on man keep iced earths legacy alive!
remembering me and my cousin with this brandnew album in our hands....hard and beautiful - after some years, exactly now, this album is the unclimbable throne, defended from all other great magic music all over the years, the final 3 tracks - a work done by gods! thank you!
I haven't listened to Iced Earth in so long and totally forgot how awesome they are. I also forgot I owned this album. I'm totally going to put this on the stereo this afternoon! Thanks for reminding me of a killer band; and thanks for posting a killer video. Props.
'I am the God of the Jackal, I follow the moonlight until I see you rise, Ra! I am here for they. Rememberhim who looked as a rose but a scorpion was he, Chase the war, Chase the world's war away, or heap it upon them,if in tombs they will decay, Let it crush their heads: the wrath you bring, shatter them under heaven, take away their name, free the earth from them, from life's enduring pain...
A METAL MASTERPIECE! My favorite *ICED EARTH* album along w/ Days of purgatory!!! A masterclass of how to compose/play the pure METAL! With proud I still have those two in CD!!! i 'll never sell them!!!
Unfortunately I can not really hear that kind of music, my brain starts to play tricks on me, I get kind of upset, I end up not seeing anything, DAMN FUCKING EPIC TRILOGY
They don't. It's about 1 million times better. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Ripper... But NOT in my Iced Earth. Without Barlow, it isn't Iced earth anymore... :(
To make a long story short the album is a concept album written around a story imagined by Jon Schafer, the founder of the band, as far as I know. The story goes earth was originally inhabited by a race of beings called Setians, and mankind invades the earth for some reason, can't remember exactly why, slaughtering most of the Setians in the process. The few surviving Setians subsequently plot and enact their revenge throughout the ages that follow after the invasion. That's more or less the story in a nutshell. The line "for your crimes on our kind you all will die" is spoken from the point of view of the Setians, who are bent on revenge after many of them are killed by invading humans. I have to wonder though, this album comes before the ones which are written around that plotline, so I'm not sure how concrete these ideas were at the time this album was released.
@SkaldfraNorden Odd, you should be able to upload at least 15 minutes like everyone else. Oh well, I'll try someone else. Although I'm not sure why no one else has based on how popular that album and A Question of Heaven alone is.
well, really 12,000 years ago. 10,000 years from the Setian Massacre until His birth, and another 2,000 years or more he'll walk the earth before destroying mankind.
This was back in 1998, is still nowadays, and will always be the best piece of music ever made. Will never get tired of listening. And even if there is a break, when i come back it hits me even harder! Hail Barlow! Hail Schaffer!
Exonerate Jon Schaffer!
I just discover this... in 2020
can't stop listen to this
Better late than never, metal brother. Try the album "Burnt Offerings" 1995! Especially the last Epic!
Welcome, my friend 🍻
Right on. Do you know about Demons and Wizards, a collaoration between Jon of Iced Earth and Hansi of Blind guardian?
@@silafuyang8675 I second this. Burnt Offerings is excellent album from Iced Earth. Not a single song feels out of the album.
while at it check out the night of the storm rider.
Doctor: You have 10 minutes left to live

@@bizzhat Yep, but I'll always have the memory and the signatures. \m/

don't be fooled by the shitty image quality of the cover, the audio quality is actually fucking stellar
It isn't
These three songs along with Dante's Inferno are the reasons I got into this band almost 6 years ago now, and I've loved every damn minute of music from this band ever since.
check out seventh servant, john greely, he's on youtube too, was the lead singer for stormrider
Try "the clouding" . Same universe as this trilogy
@@rogeriossp at this point I’ve listened to the bands entire discography, the clouding is (or was) one of my favorite songs by them
Actually, he got the concept from the book of Genesis during the time Enoch was walking with God, and the "watchers" were perverting mankind. And many things Enoch saw when he was "taken" to be with God.
this means only one thing: how important riffs are in metal, period!
Don't you ever forget *Jon Schaffer's* rhythm guitar playing, if you know what I mean!
Thank god bro you agree alot of people tell me it's the break down fuck no it's always the riff. I rather play mine in -C but this is good
Takes me way back! Metal at its fullest
Hearing these tunes while playing Heroes of Might and Magic III over a decade ago...EPICNESS at it's peak
What a masterpiece!!!!!.

Pure metal!! Hail to all of you my metal brothers..... ✊
This album is a masterpiece
15:00 the most rememberable riff of my life...
one of the best live perfomance i have ever seen they play like is not tommorow they feel the metal in their heart and in their mind
They do play like there is no tomorrow.
Matt is just bad ass. Wish he never would have parted ways with I.E.
you cant say that after 10 and more years.. !!
i met him at the bluebird theater before they played they went to mingle. i recognized him instantly.

In their defense, the Lyrics do say I'm your Anti-Christ and mention he was born on 6/6 at 6 so you could see where they got the comparison.
how do you know that those manuscripts were burnt?
One could interpret a fart to mean Satan's breath but if it borthers u the good Lord will guide u, if u feast on it u might start smokin Marlboro
I think they sing about the creators of pyramids and their plan to take back the earth one day,who knows xD

John Schaeffer is the canary in the coal mine. There is something sinister lurking in our upper echelons. It deserves to be purged in fire.
I'm seeing them tonight in Dallas!!! I am so freaking excited I can't contain it!
I like this epic song better than the entire Framing Armaggeddon/Crucible of Man duology.
absolutely
No comparison, Iced Earth peaked here. They never did anything as good as Something Wicked in later albums.
So epic only metal can do it justice. Maybe there finest recorded moment ?
The Omen movies also come in handy for a reference to this as well.
"Forged in the sacred flames, on the 6th day of the 6th month. In the 6th hour."
The ticking clock at the end of the first part is so eerie and awesome at the same time.
