Cheers for tuning in legends, we both really appreciate it! If you want to see more Starlo remember to get over to his channel! We have something special planned for you next week.
Being 50+ - spent many hours watching the legend on the TV fishing and providing impersonation to get out there amonst them. Looking forward to part 2.
The man the myth. Starlo is who got me onto lure fishing from a bait only guy. When squidgy started. Great video guy's. I have tonnes of his videos/dvds and heaps of book's.
Jeez, I remember back in the day reading 'The Australian Anglers Fishing World' and seeing the STOP PRESS when Starlo got his World Record Atlantic Bluefin Tuna 1020lbs. Met him at a Secret Womens Business tourny on Corroboree in 2004 ish, had a good chat about Texas rigging. And then his piece de reistance was catching the biggest Queenfish any of us have ever seen. Legend of Fishing should sit well with him. Defs find 'Going for Gold' Dean 😃
@@DeanSilvester man I feel old when you call it a 'History Lesson' 🤣🤣🤣 Lookin forward to Part 2 mate. Starlo was also in a good vid with Ron Calcutt called 'A Fisherman's World' where they had a cracking good trip to Lord Howe.
😂😂😂😂 sorry mate, i have a lot of that history from when i was a kid as well, 43 now. Caught up with an old work mate and realised it had been 18 years since i seen him last. That made me feel old
haha! thanks mate, get to meet some nice people in life and some just work out well and others nothing eventuates. Steve and i just clicked and its easy going when it comes to fishing
Loved this! So good to see a legend learning from a younger legend. I've said it to Starlo before, these videos (how to's) are what was great about Modern Fishing magazine back in the day. Techniques and tips, that can really help a newbie get onto fish. Funnily enough, when I lived in Armidale and regularly fished Copeton about 30 years ago, all the cod we caught were on Shakespeare Big S crank baits in 7 or 9 cm (really drab colours, olives, browns). Wouldn't have dreamed of the swim/glide baits you use.
Glad you enjoyed it! Its crazy how lures have changed over the years and i guess we target different fish now to what we used to. Yes i used to love the old school magazines for learning things, didn't really read many stories just the how to stuff. I bet if you used those same lures in copeton you would still catch fish
You cant get the expride xh 7.3 or 7:11 foot swimbait rod that you use the aus one is 6.6 unless its imported hard to find. Not sure why shimano aus got the shorter xh rod.
@@DeanSilvester cool i have the xh 6.6 didnt know about the longer ones then be fine around salt creeks and vibes just order a mhp spin for snapper season start, jews down in vic and jacks up north. Good to know nice rods for price. 👍
Sure is mate, another range worth checking out is the Zodias mate, Jelena uses the heavy spin in the zodias, very powerful rod. I also use it in the salt on the flats.
Great episode, much appreciated getting to hear your thoughts and ideas on techniques and the way Copeton and other impoundments are changing in the way fish are acting due to anger pressure. Keep it up . Take note young youtubers , this is good content and how it should be done.
Great video mate! Awesome to watch a couple of top blokes sharing valuable information. Im not in cod country myself but still got a lot out of it and appreciate your knowledge as always. Good onya Dean and Starlo!! 👍🏻🎣
Hey Mates! Dean and Starlo! In the same boat. What a tag team for fishing Cod. Dean the aerial shot showing the boat on completely calm waters was awesome! Those Cods are tanks! 115 in the shade and 75 % humidity in Indiana today and tomorrow. Waiting on a Mike Bucca swim bait in bluegill color to arrive from Amazon. $15.00 a pop. I am shooting for my PB. I don't carry a net or a scale. So it's between 5.5 and a little over 6.0 pounds. My ponds aren't huge. So if a 7 or 8 hits my swim bait. It's on! 30 pound braid and very sharp hooks. A Palomar knot will hold. I have changed my landing technique. I practice as if everyone is the PB Largemouth. So when the time comes for the PB. I got em! Looking forward to lipless cranks and Whopper Plopper season. Mike Bucca swimbaits are Top gun. He is a rare bait maker. Beautiful lures. Made to work. Catch Company makes the lures. Keeping making great videos Mate. Looking forward to see Jelena on the water again. Shawn from the States. Shawn.
Cheers for always tuning in mate, sorry for slow reply on the emails but i do enjoy reading them and these comments. We are just starting to warm up up here where i llive and not looking forward to the heat of summer. That PB of yours can't be far away
my first real introduction to Starlo was his 1980s video Going for Gold, still have it. all bout rigging n catching yellowfin tuna off Bermagui NSW. have to stay Starlo n Bushy got me into soft plastics with their og squidgy Slick Rigs, still Aussie fishing legends. thx Deano.
Thanks for tuning in mate, yep Starlo and Bushy got me into lure fishing for fish like bream which was un heard of at the time. Haven't seen going for gold that i recall. Might have to look it up
Great vid, Deano. Don't mean to be a grammar nazi but the word you were looking for is solace not solstice (unless you're looking for the shortest day in the year!)...

Go for the December opening week mate, nice and warm days and plenty of fish biting.

When’s part two
Coming this Tuesday mate
The active target just kills it for me. Not really fishing, is it ?.
What exactly is it then?
Keeping yourself entertained on a screen.
'promosm'
Not sure what that means sorry
If you are bomb casting lures onto 4000 cods heads every session then they are gonna wise up obviously.
interesting analogy mate 😂
