Thanks a ton for this video! I've been researching for weeks, chose to do an easy entry with this set and then once it was all in front of me I felt like I had no idea what to do. This was a huge help and a very well done video.
This helped me a lot and thanks to this my models doesn't look so bad. I am half-way into painting my models, but its looking good already (atleast to me)
Hey im just getting into warhammer (pretty much just for the painting haha) , this is really great , decided to order this set and will try to follow along once its here
In my opinion, it should come with a small can or pot of spray or brush-on primer-I'm a beginner, but I think one should definitely prime their models before painting...
Nice vid! I ordered this set today. I think, I will use the Reikland Fleshshade at the end for the full model, not just for the clothes. What do you think?
Reikland on gold works well for shading since the red tone of the shade will give it a nice orange tone to the ahadows. Reikland on the Blue will darken things also, but I have found that it will tend to make it look a bit dirty, Agrax Earthshade has the same issue. It really depends on if you are going for a look that is recently reforged and still pristine vs a bit more worn and battle tested.
Hi Sleepy, I'm considering getting started with painting minis and getting this set. How much paint comes with the pack? How many minis is the amount of paint appropriate for? Should I buy more paint if I want another small pack of stormcasts?
The paints in this set are the standard 12 mL pots, though the shade paints normally come in a larger pots. This size of paint is enough paint for a relatively large number of models, i.e. most of an army if not the entire army, so you should be fine for your next set of Stormcast and probably significantly longer. The 2 main reasons I buy new paints are not because of I have run out of a specific colour, the exception being undercoat and primers. But instead to get additional colours to expand my palette. And also to replace spoiled or spilled paints. The Citadel pots are prone to not closing properly so drying out, and spilling from being knock over. So I wouldn't expect to need to get more paints in the immediate future, but you may want to, to get more colours.
@@SleepyWhatsIt Thanks a lot for you answer :) If I may ask another question, say I wanted to prime these particular models with a spray, what colour would you recommend?
My standard recommendation for primer colour is a medium grey, so something like Grey Seer or Standard Mechanicus, since pretty much all colours of paints work well over them. If you are sticking with the standard gold and blue Stormcast paint scheme, Retributor Armour, if it is still available, would work really well, since you would get a lot of your base coating out of the way at the same time. When I painted some store models (just filling out battlelines, nothing exciting :-)) they were primed using that paint and it really sped things up. Since there is a lot of metallics and darker colours in that scheme a black like Chaos Black would be a good primer also. For transparency, I am going off the swatch colours for these paints, since I personally don't use spray primer anymore, where I live the weather for large parts of the year makes it difficult to use sprays, so I prime using brush on primer or an airbrush normally.
@@catnipnapkin3329 remember to water down you paints, as otherwise you will: A) use far too much, B) the paint will be as smooth, showing more of the brush strokes and filling in little details. A god way to do this is a water pallette. You can make this at home with very little things. I would Tabletop Minions video on how to make one.
Generally the easy build model sprues go in order, 1 to N for the first model, N+1 to M for the second, etc. Also I believe you can email GW, custserv@gwplc.com, for a PDF.
Sorry that you found that annoying, if you are on a phone or tablet, I would suggest using the double tap on the right side of the player to do a 10 second skip at the start of the break, they are about that long.
Thanks! I'm completely new and this was my first set! This video helped a lot!
I am glad that you found it helpful 😊
Just finished following the guide and im buzzing with the result! Thanks for providing so much detail my guy.

I agree that they should have a primer. The older version of the Space Marine kit did have a black primer instead of the Abbadon Black it has now.
Thank you sir for this!
Glad you enjoyed it

It doesn't come with a paper telling me which numbers of the sprue I need! How am I supposed to know which pieces go together??

if you are spray painting with Retributor Armour would you prime with primer? also what color white, black or gray?
My understanding is that GW sprays are primer + base so you don't need to prime them separately.
@@SleepyWhatsIt thank you for a prompt reply
Good video but mine came out looking like a toddler painted it
Glad you liked the video. Hopefully the next model will be more like a grade schooler's.
8:45 into the video already annoyed by 5-sec countdowns. It's really unnecessary, I wouldn't do it. The content is awesome though.
