I absolutely loved working in treatment for the prison system. I was responsible for treatment programming for over 355 residents. The politics led to me leaving after 15 years. I am licensed as an addiction counselor and recommend becoming an LPC or LCSW and obtaining certification in the addiction field. Unfortunately, our discipline is not as respected as others who work with this population. My state falls under the IC&RC, and I help people become certified addiction counselors, as I am a certified clinical supervisor. Great field, but it doesn’t pay what the other disciplines make. Been in the field since 2009, so this is definitely my passion.
BTW… your channel helped me prepare for my CCS exam. 🙂

Hello! Thank you for all of your videos! I’m an LCDC 1 intern in Texas. My hours are waived because I hold a master’s degree. The problem is, I do not have any experience with addiction or counseling, other than my own experiences. That being said, I’d like to take one of your courses to learn more and to help pass the exam. Which specific CE course would you recommend? I see there are a lot to choose from. I appreciate you! ❤

I just wondering if my social service worker degree would be recognized in the USA, I’m from Canada.

I just wondering if my social service worker degree would be recognized in the USA, I’m from Canada.
In the United States, the recognition of international degrees, including those from Canada, typically requires an evaluation process to determine the equivalency to U.S. education standards. For a social service worker degree from Canada, you would likely need to have your credentials evaluated by a professional organization that specializes in foreign credential evaluation. This process can help determine if your degree meets the necessary criteria for recognition in the U.S. and what steps you may need to take to fulfill any additional requirements.
It's also important to note that specific requirements can vary by state, as each state has its own licensing board with unique standards for social work and related fields. You may need to meet additional educational or certification requirements depending on the state where you intend to practice.
For more detailed information on the process of becoming an addiction counselor in the U.S., which may share similarities with the requirements for social service workers, you can refer to the video th-cam.com/users/livetTj_V3jAf0I?si=7EtZLhmHdX7p0SPb where I discuss various pathways and requirements across different regions.
To ensure that your degree and qualifications are recognized, it's advisable to contact the licensing board of the state where you wish to work or a credential evaluation service for a detailed assessment of your degree's compatibility with U.S. standards. You can ask my AI to learn more on that and more easily find information in the video library allceus.com/AskDocSnipes
