@@sheseesyou . I see. Delight in watching the suffering of others is called sadism, my friend: an ancient Catholic tradition:
"Yes, and there are other sights: that last day of judgment, with its everlasting issues; that day unlooked for by the nations, the theme of their derision, when the world hoary with age, and all its many products, shall be consumed in one great flame! How vast a spectacle then bursts upon the eye! What there excites my admiration? What my derision? Which sight gives me joy? Which rouses me to exultation? - as I see so many illustrious monarchs, whose reception into the heavens was publicly announced, groaning now in the lowest darkness with great Jove himself, and those, too, who bore witness of their exultation; governors of provinces, too, who persecuted the Christian name, in fires more fierce than those with which in the days of their pride they raged against the followers of Christ. What world's wise men besides, the very philosophers, in fact, who taught their followers that God had no concern in ought that is sublunary, and were wont to assure them that either they had no souls, or that they would never return to the bodies which at death they had left, now covered with shame before the poor deluded ones, as one fire consumes them! Poets also, trembling not before the judgment-seat of Rhadamanthus or Minos, but of the unexpected Christ! I shall have a better opportunity then of hearing the tragedians, louder-voiced in their own calamity; of viewing the play-actors, much more dissolute in the dissolving flame; of looking upon the charioteer, all glowing in his chariot of fire; of beholding the wrestlers, not in their gymnasia, but tossing in the fiery billows; unless even then I shall not care to attend to such ministers of sin, in my eager wish rather to fix a gaze insatiable on those whose fury vented itself against the Lord. This, I shall say, this is that carpenter's or hireling's son, that Sabbath-breaker, that Samaritan and devil-possessed! This is He whom you purchased from Judas! This is He whom you struck with reed and fist, whom you contemptuously spat upon, to whom you gave gall and vinegar to drink! This is He whom His disciples secretly stole away, that it might be said He had risen again, or the gardener abstracted, that his lettuces might come to no harm from the crowds of visitants! What quæstor or priest in his munificence will bestow on you the favour of seeing and exulting in such things as these? And yet even now we in a measure have them by faith in the picturings of imagination."
-- Tertullian, "De Specula" (ch. 30).
"by faith"-per fidem...thus it is written!

An Italian study published April 2022 used X-ray crystallography to date the Shroud. They analyze the twisting of the fibers of the linen over time and compare with linen with known dates. The shroud is from Christ’s time and after 45 years of atheism I became a born again Christian.
I did not major in nuclear engineering but I did go to Fermilab in high school and studied a bit of particle physics there. I went onto chemistry, genetic engineering, biomedical engineering, got a law degree. X-ray crystallography is something I understand having studied The Double Helix by Watson.
I also sew and oil paint as a hobby. My grandma taught me a sewing technique called “darning“. A repair can be done invisibly. And there is no paint on this cloth. There might be a few paint particles here and there but it’s not painted.
I remember the shroud coming out as a kid. And then the carbon dating. And I was so disappointed that it was a fake. But it’s not fake, the carbon dating is not accurate for some reason. I am not ready to discard the repair theory. The carbon dating could also be altered with the burst of energy. It would be interesting to test other samples from the tomb of Christ.

I'm glad to do it. I was an atheist for 45 years. I was interested in the new dating of linens and was amazed to find it was from Christ's time. Then I looked at all the other tests and data, expecting that it would be proven fake. I was shocked after my study. And ashamed by my disbelief. That Shroud proves the resurrection of Christ. I am a born again Christian and my faith has never wavered. There are no excuses. All must believe in Christ and this new proof for us scientists makes me wonder if the rapture is near. Mathematicians have proved on paper that there are many other words beyond our own which we cannot see. The existence of the soul seems very logical.
God bless those with natural faith. There's plenty of evidence without the Shroud, and now my eyes are open to see all that as well. And the funny thing is, with God's grace and wisdom by my side, I am a lot smarter than I was before. God bless us in these troubled times.

The lab in Arizona tested another ancient shroud & the result was dated to the 1st Century. The scientist said "I bet the shroud people wished they'd had this result" The Roman crucified thousands & thousands of people, 200 per day got crucified outside the walls of Jerusalem & that went on for weeks. Men were crucified from Jerusalem to Cambridge, even now some still have the nails still in the bone. It could be anyone.

It seems very likely to me that the resurrection power of God in raising Jesus from the dead would make that image on the burial cloth. Recently I saw a video about the image of the shroud being blurred in some areas because he was actually unfolding His hands and moving to stand. All I can say is Hallelujah! It was a medieval repair it’s not even the same weaving pattern. I thought everybody knew this. She published several articles in major journals and got awards for it.

@briandillon8041 Yes, it was Sue Benford, the late wife of Joe Marino, who discovered and started the invisible cotton-weave mending idea that was later proved to be true by Ray Rogers and thus put into question the whole subject of the 1988 carbon dating, but Bob Rucker here dismisses all this. He makes a distinction between the Oxford University carbon dating and the other two (Zurich and Arizona) when we have been informed that the Oxford "scientist" has admitted, after 29 years and pressed by Freedom of Information query, that his team came up with the Medieval date after they took an average of dates they found with the carbon dating, which is a ridiculous idea for who takes an average od dates? Mr Rucker ignores this and also dubiously claims that he has tested the whole of the Shroud, not just the controversial area from where the carbon-dated sample was taken. He also makes the rather laughable suggestion that those who handled the Shroud left traces on it from their cotton gloves! I used to respect Mr Rucker but I think he is mistaken.

@jeffi854 I think what he meant is that he had doubts regarding the authenticity of the Shroud, which is fine. Christians are not obligated to believe in its authenticity. Although, I do think that has a lot to do with Christians not bothering to look into the Shroud in-depth. As for the rapture at any time I have to say that's a false doctrine, brother. Jesus is to remain in heaven until it's time for the restitution of all things, as we read in Acts 3:21.
Even if Acts 3:21 is speaking of a period of time from one point to another and not one particular moment, we read in Revelation 20:4-5 that the dead who go through the Tribulation are a part of the dead who rise first in the first resurrection upon the 2nd coming of Christ. If the dead in Christ rise first, including those who go through the Tribulation, then the rapture can't happen at any point before then because those of us who are alive and remain will "be caught up" after them (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Bob emphasizes the pure science behind the image formation and the pathology related to it. So many sceptics are quick to pass it off as a fake, but none come up with an explanation as to how it was faked.
That aside, very few people are able to make any judgement because they don't have the physics, chemistry and photographic knowledge to do so. Bob has no other option but to use highly technical language because the shroud takes science to the limits of our knowledge - and beyond.

One of the things that the average person doesn't understand (MAINLY BECAUSE OF INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY BY MANY SO CALLED SCIENTISTS) is that carbon dating is completely unreliable. Why? Because we still don't actually know how fast carbon dissipates from different materials under different environmental pressures. It really grinds my gears that we've known this for decades now, and yet we're still talking about and using carbon 14 dating.

I always understood that is why they give an estimate of + or - number of years for the precise reason you gave; the dearth of variables that impact the dating process.
Of course it has been habit of most of these "public presentations" of such results that they typically dumb down and oversimplify the results, which leads to the erroneous conclusions we see to this day. Most documentaries these days do the same thing. The producers and directors think the audience cannot figure stuff out for themselves.
Seems to me the most logical answer is that they also dated the wrong material. They dated the repair material and not the original material.

In an age where some recognize only what science yields, I better understand why the Shroud has been called the "Fifth Gospel." If the evidence is incontrovertible, one is inevitably confronted with considering the possible source behind what made the image on the Shroud. One might have to reorient one's worldview. Integrity requires one goes where the evidence leads.

After about ten years I reading a book about the shroud of Turin and it fascinated me. As I read more books about it I was convinced Jesus rose from the dead and the shroud could not be duplicated and will not be duplicated in the future. So I never became a believer by faith but by knowing. I have always said as Jesus said you believe because you see, blessed are the ones who do not see but believe as he said to Thomas. I think the shroud was a gift that Jesus left for people like me.

People who were involved with the 1978 tests have said that the carbon dating, which wasn’t done for another 10 years, was supposed to be based on 7 samples from all over the shroud, but ended up being completely based on that section that was known to have been repaired. It’s been surmised that the British Museum, who did the carbon dating, wished to debunk the authenticity of the shroud.

Bob Rucker is awesome and this interview and discussion were excellent. However, he made a mistake at 44:15 to 44:30 in this video, where he erroneously asserts that Ray Rogers "doesn't say whether the cotton fiber that he found was just on the surface of the fibers or frizz (sic) or whether it was embedded in the twisted linen." However, Rogers did say such. Rogers had Bob Villareal of Los Alamos Nuclear Lab examine the fibers from the subsamples of the Shroud samples that Rogers had (taken from the same area of the Shroud that the C-14 test samples were obtained from) and Villareal found that there were cotton fibers embedded in the twisted linen and that such were held together with the linen fibers by a glue and resin. Villareal reported such to Rogers, and Rogers told the world. Moreover, from 2000-2018, the three labs that did the C-14 testing examined their remaining subsamples of the C-14 test samples and they all found cotton fibers embedded in the linen fibers and held together with the linen by glue and resin. The Oxford University lab published an article about this in its Archeometry journal in approximately 2019-2020. Thus, Rucker was mistaken in asserting Rogers did not say such.
What happened was that some very meticulous seamstress nuns patched up a corner of the Shroud (the corner where the C-14 samples were taken from) because that corner was badly damaged over the years. They took some cotton cloth and fibers, then used the so-called invisible re-weaving technique to patch up such damaged corner. The "invisible reweaving technique" was quite more than just re-weaving, as it involved undoing some of the linen fibers and then twisting and bonding the linen and cotton fibers together using glue and resin to blend the cotten fibers into the linen fibers, and then applying a coloring agent to cause the cotton to have the same color as the linen so that it would all look like linen. The C-14 testing samples were taken from that repaired corner, and that corner fluoresces differently than the entire rest of the Shroud, thus indicating it is of a different material (cotton). These are indisputable facts.

Super brilliant guy and truly fascinating conversation!! Some of what he said was kind of confusing to me, as the carbon dating samples that dated the Shroud from the Middle Ages were taken from a cotton patch woven into the Shroud by nuns in the Middle Ages. People might not be aware that a fire in the Middle Ages had scorched the Shroud (which is 100% linen). I'm a new subscriber, and the several guests I've seen, plus your interviewing questions, are fantastic! 😊

I understand what Rucker is proposing with the coronal discharge hypothesis - the involvement of electrons. But how would such a mechanism result in an image with "no side images" (the Shroud has no ears, no sides from head to foot)? This seems to be an unanswered question which his hypothesis cannot explain. Whereas, if gravity were involved, this could account for a lack of side images as the cloth flattened out, collapsing through the body. So whether one subscribes to the Fall-Through Hypothesis or the Coronal Discharge Hypothesis,(Prof. Guilio Fanti & Rucker) both have some unanswered questions. Perhaps God's ways are not our ways - and the "mechanism itself" had a supernatural character. Thank you for being such a gracious host.

    • @dalie95327

I believe he says the radiation is coming from outside the body and as such the electrons are at a 90 degrees top and bottom of the body thus none are going through the sides. Go to more of his web sites and he can explain it. I believe he says the electron field is coming from a outside the body not from within thus no side image.

  • @morielrorschach8090
    @morielrorschach8090 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Still say the shift in the carbon date is because the shroud was never a closed system. It was exposed to open air (and the smoke from fresh burnt incense for centuries, which WOULD skew the date. Not to mention being completely engulfed in smoke from the fire from 1532 and thus saturated in the carbon from the age of the wood burnt. Even if they cleaned the soot off perfectly at the time of testing, it was still contaminated the whole time, skewing the ratio of parent and daughter isotopes.

The blood reconstituted as living. A Rood Wakening has an AD series by a man from arkdiscovery, ronwyattarcheology,. Ron's widow and current husband, plus Jim and Penny Caldwell, among others still does work on Noah's Ark, The Red Sea Crossing, and Gomorrah. It makes perfect sense that even with so much evidence of the Shrouds authenticity that some people would still want more proof. It has gotten to the point, that, with these types of people, if all the scientist and scholars of the world authenticated the Shroud publicly they would still doubt it. If the Lord Himself came down and spoke directly to them they would still doubt whether or not it actually happened. We can only explain to them lovingly and patiently what we know and what we believe as truth and why we believe it and then simply walk away leaving the rest of it between them and the Lord. It's not our job to convince them, our only requirement is to love and respect them. There is so much uncertainty and confusion nowadays just as the scriptures promised us would happen in the days just before He returns. The evidence on or in the Shroud leaves us very little uncertainty as to it's authenticity. Giving us the perfect amount of evidence and/or proof that anyone in modern days really needs in order to believe that His existence and His Resurrection as absolute truths. The science behind the study of the Shroud is enough evidence for any conviction in any courtroom setting today.
Interesting side note to ponder is that the scriptures say He will return in 2,000 years and apparently scholars believe He died around the year 30 AD. So, that brings us to an approximate year of about 2030 AD??? Just food for thought...

The discussion about cotton fiber contamination seems to confirm the issue with the Carbon dating sample. The Carbon dating method is not in question it's the pre analytical process involving the sample. It's hard to have confidence in a flawed process. I would also point out that the same naturalistic bias could have influenced the scientists who obtained the sample. Their bias may have contributed to breaking the sample collection protocol and flawed statistical analysis.

This carbon dating of the shroud that places it in a later time period actually lines up perfectly with the "phantom time hypothesis".
Just remember, that before the invention of the nuclear clock all means of time keeping were a product of their time, mistakes could have easily been made with rudimentary tools during the dark ages when roman technology was lost. And we already know that there are some major fundamental flaws with the carbon dating process, many artifacts from that time period come up with inconclusive data when carbon dated, a lot of it gets guessed based off of with the item is and what we already know about the time period it might have originated from..

From what I understand, although there are many shrouds from many crucified individuals, NONE have an image of the person crucified burned/scorched/transferred onto the burial cloth. This makes it unique of all of the other shrouds. There may be blood stains but no photographic images. Is this correct? Given that, Jesus is the only one that rose from the dead and left us a still-life photo of the event...that's how we know.

I think it’s like this: whatever the Resurrection body is, it’s not phantom-like. It’s not vaporous, or thin, or less real than solid, material reality. It’s MORE real. It’s MORE substantial than material substances. Read C. S. Lewis’ phenomenal book “The Great Divorce” for a couple great images of something like this. Later in that little book (a fictional journey to Purgatory/the foothills of heaven) he depicts the angels and heavenly human characters as walking with ease on the grassy landscape, but the not-yet-resurrected characters feel each blade of grass like knives underneath their feet because they’re not yet REAL ENOUGH to enjoy heaven.

The comments about “fission of deuterium” are disturbing. Probably I am misunderstanding what Mr. Rucker is getting at, but is it not the case that deuterium undergoes nuclear fusion reactions under some circumstances, not fission. Deuterium moderates fission reactions, but it is hard to understand why “splitting” deuterium would occur. Since these are elementary aspects of nuclear reactions, it naturally creates confusion when a highly educated and experienced nuclear engineer refers to splitting deuterium. One would expect at least some basic explanation and description. Why not ?

If this was a naturally occurrence how come there is only one shroud? Well only one that we have heard of?

Interesting discussion. The same methodology could be applied to COVID and it's origin. Why not go there?

I think this guy made up a whole hypothesis and theory based on false assumptions which he took upon himself unfortunately, because it was shown that the portion taken for the carbon-dating tests back in 1988 was a multi-weave portion taken meaning this was a repaired part of the Shroud and not original part, so the repaired portion of course would show up with a later date when it was repaired. For one reason or another he's not aware of this information and has unfortunately wasted some time developing a theory and a hypothesis around accepting the 1988 carbon dating results which are false from the beginning because they took a repaired portion of the shroud....☹ bummer

You need to proofread your statements before posting them. You made one argument in the top half of the statement, then turned right around and made a completely different argument in the bottom half. You argued against your own argument.

It is clear that the sample c14 tested was not entirely original to the shroud.. This accounts very well for the faulty dating. Also, the shroud has been dated with mass spectroscopy which placed it in the range of the first century.
And, his statement that Ray Rogers work isn't credible, I find to not be credible. It's kinda amusingwhen directly after saying these things, he talks about how there are no dyes on the main body of the shroud. Yet in Rogers study he notes that the cotton repair in the tested area has madder root dye to make the color match the rest of the shroud. This obviously is a repaired and dyed edge of an otherwise pure linen cloth. I think this man's statements are probably biased by his desire to advance his own hypothesis for the c14 mis-dating.

I believe that Jesus left His image on the shroud is just for non- believers. What more proof they need? He is Risen indeed Alleluia.
