No body had the knowledge especially in the time of Jesus to fool us in today’s time. Everything is documented and seen in the Shroud to the point that we have to use our very best technology to see all the extra items and details Jesus died with and was buried with. Those that would pass it off as a fake of some sort are the same ones pointing out that Dinosaurs never existed because fossils aren’t actual evidence.

This is thrilling and complicated stuff but I think more people "out there" would be excited if it was made more understandable -- just the overall conversation about this topic, not simply this podcast. Intuitively I arrived at the same cause of the shroud's image 15 years ago. I didn't know of any simalar hypothesis at that time.

I thought before that the event that caused the image might have done something to the C14. Can you calculate wether the amount of protons needed to produce the image matches the mount of neutrons needed to shift the carbon dating ( produced by splitting the Deuterium)

Of all the amazing unexplained objects on this earth, people seem to think that this image couldn't be created by some of those same people. The Bible plainly shows us that this is a fake and deception, but people want to disregard the word of God and cling to claims of men. Jesus's body was taken from the cross and prepared for burial. His body was wrapped in strips of linen and there was a separate cloth covering his face. Instead of me telling you about it, go to your Bible and find all the passages that prove it's a fake. Google will help you find all the places. They have polluted peoples minds with this image representing Saturn/Baal/Cronus/Ninurta and calling it Jesus. Go look up the symbology found in those pictures of Catholic "Jesus".

There is definitely a sufficient amount of scientific evidence about and in the Shroud to prove its validity as the burial “garment” of Jesus. The radiation responsible for the surface image on the Shroud had to arise (pun intended) from the dead body itself. The focus of the radiation that formed the image qualifies as a miracle, since it seems to require the radiation arise from the blood cells of the dead body. If one is looking for validation of the resurrection of Jesus, this image and the projection of energy necessary to produce it, suggests the Shroud is a representation of this resurrection. Very interesting. His theory is just as valid as anyone else's and I tend to believe it. Those who simply say, This must be a forgery without presenting any supporting evidence, are not credible.

Rhetorical question - Why does Joe even mention discredited carbon dating of the shroud?

I love mysteries and this is a great one. I can't critique the nuclear physics hypothesis but I can accept that some kind of energy emanated from the body and "burned" the image on the linen. This is a unique phenomenon. However, it seems too much of a leap to conclude that this proves resurrection. This shows me that Dr. Rucker is a Christian and has a need to convince himself of the resurrection but his logic fails and this need causes him to jump prematurely to this conclusion. I put this in the category of unexplained phenomenon that are not uncommon among saints including indian gurus, and Islamic saints. Nevertheless, it is good to have a serious scientist studying this and I hope he can make progress in explaining how a dying body can produce this energy. I would like to see Dr. Rucker look for other energetic phenomena among living saints that might help clarify this. The Dalai Lama has been open to applying science to meditation. Perhaps he should interview the Dalai Lama who might be able to suggest other avenues of research!

The was a new test WAXS wide angle x-ray scattering and it dated the shroud to 50-70 AD……. Not sure of the percentage of +\- but that’s within 17 years of Christ resurrection

To be honest the carbon dating is due to newer fabric sewed into the older fabric via French invisible weave. The whole nuclear thing is erroneous and in my opinion subject to religious bias for Christianity. the dating of the shroud can be proven to the roman empire by looking at the degradation of the cellulose fibers on main part of the shroud. Also authentication city of the shroud can also be proven due the type fabric the shroud is and also thinness of the blood stains (blood stains are 200 nm, far to thin to be painted). The blood samples are also AB+ which the same found in the sudarium of Oviedo.
