- Cross Country Paragliding from Parlick Pike to Hornby in Lancashire, & the way back using public transport. A video showing how after the flight, the culture & history of where you land & the places that you pass through whilst getting back are all part of the adventure.
Apologies to the people of Hornby: If I had carried on walking past the shut pubs, I would have found a lovely little tea room.
This are NOT instructional videos. www.bhpa.co.uk/sport/bhpa/learn_to_fly/
Nice village, Hornby - no pubs now, but a good village cafe. Taxi's are horrendously expensive unless you can share - cost me £50 for a 20 miler this year. When it hit £50 ... I said 'Let me out'. The trick is to plan your xc's around bus routes (many now cut) and trainlines/stations - helps to have a bus pass and get an annual railcard. I've said for years a retrieve register might be useful too .... I only live a short distance from where you landed.
How much is a taxi all the way from Hornby back to take off compared with the other modes of transport. Possibly a quicker and not much more expensive option ?
That was my plan had the pub been open, but it was impossible to find a taxi phone number, yet alone get a taxi to come all the way out. The whole village was closed on a saturday.
