As a Dutchmen,i am sure that it won´t be 65% of the land under water! The majority of the land is still above sea level,so how can it be 65 %?Outside the polders there is land above the sea level, only crossed by a river. So the land beside the river can only be in water when the river is very high, but then only the sides off the river will be wet.
The Netherlands needs to raise their lands more than dams, but to do this by dumping soil with trucks is not durable and takes a long time. That's why my opinion is that the Netherlands should be prepared for a big project. The project should create artificial volcanic eruptions and allow cities to raise land. Lava will cover the country's land like a blanket. Of course, the regions where this will be done must be transferred. It's not easy, but it came to my mind as the healthiest method.
And its not exactly an easy political solution either. Forcing a volcano to erupt on otherwise lucrative fields will piss of the greens, ranchers, lobbyists and basically anyone who depends on that land being useful or doesnt feel like flooding acres of grassland with lava
This is the kind of comment that probably sounded brilliant when you came up with it at 3:00 AM after sixteen beers. I'm Dutch, and I'm just left confused where the hell we're supposed to find a volcano in our country.
@@frankvandorp9732well there is a volcano in the Waddenzee but its last eruption was 150 million years ago. And even if it was active how would we even force it to erupt and how do you even begin to control an eruption.
@@rutgerb During colonial times Batavia (Jakarta) had better waterworks than nowadays. Doesn't mean colonialism was a good thing, it was very bad and incorrect.
If the Netherlands wants to save its land then the Dutch government should plant as many native trees in their country as possible. The trees take water from the land and hold the land firmly by their roots. There is no better natural way than mangroves to save the land lost in the sea, and the Netherlands will have to import sand from Arab countries. At least one thousand tons of sand should be imported to the Netherlands every year in large ships and coconut trees should be planted on the shores of the Netherlands. (Suggestion from Pakistan)
On my god! How can anyone mispronounce the name of the Zuiderzee? Only in America it would seem. Hint - it’s the zider-see (close enough, but it will prevent the Dutch going after the idiots that didn’t advise the narrator about pronunciations). Despite this and other screwups, it was an interesting video if a bit too short explaining a complex topic. Please, if you’re going to cover foreign languages like English, or European etc at least make the effort to pronounce the names correctly (or advise the narrator what to expect).
Bull. I'm Dutch. 60+ years old.. and here is the truth: I live close to the North Sea, and sea level has not gone up since I was a small child...NOTHING !!!
If the commentator would pronounce Zuiderzee as he did . Nobody in the Netherlands would have a clue what he would be talking about He would be brought to an asylum for the seriously deranged.
@cabgab Tell me you're ignorant, without saying you're ignorant. You don't know the first thing about the Dutch and their country, talking about hate, only to prove to all of us that your mind is poisoned with hatred. Zeewiderzee & Afslooitditch - this is what happens when you get an American computer to read Dutch. 😏
They absolutely butchered the pronunciation 💀
Cool
I chuckled every time.

Yes!The sound of zuider is missing in the programming off the computer....🤣🤣
LOL...As a Dutch I do not need to watch this, as the title is fundamentally wrong!

Orang Netherlands sangat suka membangun kota di tepi laut., peninggalan nya di Indonesia kota Batavia/Jakarta bahkan terancam tenggelam...
“God created the earth, but the Dutch created the Netherlands"
I wrote this before I saw the end of the video.
No wonder they get flooded from time to time.
Darn protestants... :p
How impressive. Literally the first sentence is wrong 👏🏻
65% of the netherlands is below sea level and most of it should have gone to the sea centuries ago
@@I_am_somebody_1234 do some actual research. Only 26% of the Netherlands is below sea level
did not know this about Holland, thanks for sharing
Short answer: it isn't.

Mangroves do not grow in Europe, and palm trees only in the very south...
A thousand tons of sand do not help, we need half the Sahara.

The pronounciation of our things is really hilarious. Not much effort done to how to do that. The title is indeed very wrong too.
