This is such a great car review channel even Malaysia 🇲🇾 audience can relate easily. Well done
I love this format better than the non-scripted walkthroughs
Yesss finally a review of the yaris cross hybrid!
Love this little car.
Was able to take the non-hybrid version on a long drive. Spent about Php1,500 on fuel driving from baguio to alabang with a little bit left over. Luggage space is decent. The interior is great for the segment. Engine is indeed a bit loud, though. Getting up to speed at toll roads sounds like youre racing on a drag strip. Engine noise at 3k rpm is pretty significant already imo.
I tested one the other day (a friend owns one, Hybrid Electric) and the NVH is appalling. Idk how Toyota managed to do that because it reminded me of riding in a subcompact hatchback like the Swift or Wigo where you can hear a LOT of road and wind noise.
I was expecting a more premium ride given that it's around 1.5m. The boost from the electric motor tapers off at around 40KPH, after that speed, you are left with the meager 98hp Atkinson engine, wheezing its way trying to reach highway speeds.
The fuel economy is brilliant, though. Averaging 15-19km/l city drive (1pm-7pm in hellish Cebu traffic). I know Toyota could've done more for this brilliant platform, but it just isn't worth it. The Corolla Cross hybrid is simply a better choice if you're already about to spend 1.5ish million of your hard-earned cash.
Edit: Did a bit of research and found out that the Yaris Cross rides on the DNGA platform, while the Corolla Cross uses the TNGA platform, which explains a LOT about why it has terrible NVH levels.
yaris cross nvh is worse than china made
If we're talking HEV, the Corolla Cross is definitely the better option comfort-wise.
The petrol variant (V) of Yaris Cross looks good for its price though!
Same. Feels like a teched up raize but the build feels the same
I think your review just reduced the Yaris cross hybrid in my list of options. I drive to Cabuyao 3 times a week from Makati, and if it’s as loud as a Wigo/ Picanto then that’s a big pass. I would rather get the Zenix Hybrid.
@@nikhilramchandani2655 it shocking, really. And I'm not just pulling data out of my ass, I own a 2015 Swift and have rented a Wigo for a week sa Palawan. I understand that they are budget vehicles serving a different market, and they are excellent choices for their price.
However, for 1.5m that Toyota is asking for the Yaris Cross, I really was expecting at least Similar NVH levels as my 2020 Altis. I was so disappointed. The ride isn't that bad, kaso pangit talaga yung cabin insulation nya.
The engine also feels rather underpowered and gutless above 80km/hr, but at least it is quiet. It just doesn't feel refined. I really wanted to love it though because of its fuel economy and ease of drivability. But since I'm a person that goes on long trips often, I don't think I'll be upgrading to this anytime soon
I have been waiting for this review! 🎉
A review of the non-hybrid variants would be great.
Im waiting for this behind the wheel review 😍😍♥️🔥🔥🔥
i commented on one of your previous videos, after months of waiting and countless dealerships, finally got my hands on a Corolla Cross HEV GR-Sport! they quietly upgraded it too with an updated headunit (bigger) and a sunroof! still trying to learn how to efficiently drive a hybrid haha, having the bigger engine at your disposal was too good to pass up considering taking it for occasional long drives. Toyota Safety Sense is such a treat too!
does it still have the foot parking brake?
You are stepping on the right diirection in terms of objective review. If I have to rate the objectivity I would say it is 80 out of 100.
Comparo between this and corolla hybrid cross would be a good video
So we own this now and let's just say we're thankfull the dealers we went to didn't have the Corolla Cross Hybrid available. But that just highlights the question you mentioned as to why would wouldn't go up, mainly availability and allocations.
We were originally ready to go for the Zenix Hybrid, but there was already a queue from day 1 of release (probably from people reserving prior to Philippine release with their connections to dealers). On FB Marketplace, third party dealers are selling the Zenix for 2.3m-2.5m, the Corolla Cross GR for 2.1m and I recall a listing for the Yaris Cross Hybrid for 1.8m. people want the cars, but they're simply not available. It does however let them explore other options outside Toyota, so I guess there's that.
How was it with all seats occupied? Can it go to Baguio without a fuzz?
I think you forgot to mention the Subaru Crosstrek aside from the Kicks and HRV
Parang i want to trade in my Raize na tuloy. Ang ganda!
I hope dealers offer more hybrid and EV models when I return to the Philippines or when I decide to replace my current vehicle.
Thats how our car doors sound when you close it 😂 so when husband and I saw Nissan Kicks displayed in a mall we were wowed with how the door close sounded, it sounded expensive 😂
i completely agree, after the 2014 fortuner black edition, this is the first toyota that ive wanted to purchase since, it has all u need, and its very gas efficient
If you buy the Yaris cross you will regret it. I purchased one 6 weeks ago and the only good thing I can say about it is you can get 3 water bottles in the door.i also have owned the Corolla cross hybrid for 2 & half year and it is a better car in every aspect
I wish you could also feature the non-hybrid (HEV) variants. Thank you
I couldn’t find the Panoramic sunroof feature anywhere in Toyota Australia website
Sir Caco any news about the release date new gen vios here in ph?
Sana ireview din yung gas variant 😊
We need and End of Year Comparo in this segment
Can you compare this to the corolla cross hev pls
Can you do next comparo Stargazar X vs Changan X7
You guys should review the 2024 4x4 2.8 hilux conquest
THE BEST CAR I'VE EVER PURCHASED
toyota has been making safe decisions in terms of designs. not too showy and not too boring
They always have.
Hybrid car is the best option now a days than electric and diesel in terms of economy low emission and practicality.
Here in abroad most drivers are use to it.
Kahit maingay eto Dahil sa cvt transmission.
Long range
Gas mileage
Low emission
Long warranty ( up to 10 years)
Can live both urban and rural.
In performance and power Wala siya against sa mga other brands.
Work busines family and passenger use eto.
Longevity nito are 100% or more Pa vs old design transmission. Computer electronics na halos ang function nito. Pero Yong basic dirty maintenance jan pa rin.
Oil change
Filters change
Valves cleaning
Tyres
Brakes
Throttle
DPF
Lahat madali Lang na repair cleaning and replacement.
Kahit ikaw na ang gagawa.
Basta sundin mo at basahin ang manual book nito.
About computer diagnose my obd2 na mabibili na. Or the best yearly service sa casa para safe.
Kaya here in abroad Lexus and Toyota extended there warranty up to 10 years.
Land Cruiser ( mostly Japan made)
Corolla ( sedan some ibang country din hatch back)
Supra ( Europe Japan)
GT 86( Japan)
I’m a Toyota Lexus Yamaha fun boy now .😁
My previous cars BMW Vauxhall Renault Land Rover.
Sangkadamakmal na repair at spare parts replacement sila.
Pinak worst transmission at crack engine oil and radiator leaks misfire battery flat alternator solenoid worn out low power clogs vibration noisy. Hindi masyadong nag change etong brands na eto.
Puro high performance luxury At technology outlook Lang. Hindi gaya sa Toyota Lexus major upgrade and change talaga. From bad high emissions bad fuel economy and bad quality unreliability expensive to reliable quality affordability availability longevity economical practicality low emissions and less maintenance. Sa panahon ngayon hindi performance at luxury. The true quality ang basi Han ng machine hindi Yong outside looks cosmetics and electronics nito.
In my opinion that model luxurious design na iyan.
Walang Pag ka iba sa European Toyota. Mas mura jan kay sa dito( mataas tax here).
Sir Caco, you said this sits in between the kicks and HR-V. I wonder kung ano pagkakasunod. Huhuhu
How does the NVH compared to the Veloz? The NVH on the Veloz was a bit bad for me and the CVT whining (and hunting) is just too much for that car.
In terms of NVH and ride comfort which did it better? YX or Corolla cross? Pls help po need honest and unbiased opinion. Many thanks po sa sasagot.
Hi Team. My question is - Does the sunroof create too much sunlight in summers daytime?
Kicks vs This please!
There is a perfect car or me.. exterior and interiorwise... that is the civic RS 2019 to 2021... because the first release had no physical volume control...
I can already sense costs cutting just when Caco closed the doors, and visible primer under the hood.
That has always been the case for cars sold in the Philippines we always get the shittier versions compared to other countries cuz u know Taxes
I thinking between this and xpander hev
Pro tip lang sa mga interesado sa Yaris Cross: "Don't waste your time on Toyota Albang (near Northgate). Their agents are very unhelpful and loves wasting your time.
Hanap kayo ibang branch!
This is true, agents in Toyota Alabang are very rude and judgemental. Pangit ng culture doon.
Can you elaborate? Parang mabait naman sila doon from experience.
@@marktiu8402same. Polite naman iyung kausap ko back when I was canvassing for a vehicle
Hope it will be discounted
Not bad though DNGA. The Lexus LBX, if it gets introduced in the PH market is the true Yaris based on TNGA
I've been waiting for the LBX as well. Seems like a sulit ride than NX.
@streamingvideo6654 was pondering between the UX and the LBX for a daily. Was surprised when the LBX came out - thought thr UX was small to begin with 🙂
I thought it was underpower, but I don't know how it is even possible.
So I try this car on the most difficult medium off-road level in Cambodia (Search up Koh Kong road)
And this car can climb a fxcking mountain with slippery mud, rocky road, red dirt and even stiff hill. I have no problem crossing these terrain with my Yaris cross (Gasoline version in Cambodia)
My Mazda CX-5 still struggle with AWD, but my Yaris cross do it all very easily. (just how the fxck?)
But on the expressway, it was so slow when it first accelerated, but it caught up pretty quickly.
Edited: What I don't like about it is the freaking door, it feels too thin and not solid while all the other parts are so solid? Why just freaking why?
Hi guys can u make a comparo of hybrid vs non hybrid yaris cross…specially the fuel consumption :) thanks more power ;)
You save About 30-40% fuel consumption you bet from non hybrid. Depends on your driving habits. But the money you save in fuel will eventually goes to battery replacement since we all know battery degrades overtime. It will cost you a fortune in replacing such battery.
@@crazylittlebigthings. Oh please, look at the all the old Priuses still driving.
Been waiting for a zenix hybrid but stocks are limited!!!! Ugh. This might be my second choice haha
Wait for the Zenix. Very much comfier especially the middle seats (ottomans).
Is the car got spare tyre?
Does Yaris Cross HEV 2025 released in Market? Thankyu for the answer
Can you guys do a comparo between this and the Jolion Hybrid?
I prefer the TNGA version
Is this the top line?
Raize turbo vs Yaris cross comparo pls
nissan kicks is the best option with this segment
Better fuel efficiency than Corolla Cross is where it shines most.
This Yaris Cross along with the Vios AC100, Veloz, Raize, Wigo, Avanza, and Liteace are all built by Daihatsu for Toyota. Daihatsu is Toyota’s subsidiary.
And their cheat the crash test
All the company cheat, but Toyota has the ball to blame Daihatsu for it and upgrade with this new Yaris cross. @@AntiJEVsInPH
First and timing na I'm interested sa car na eto
Yeah, you did walked into that one. 😂😂😂😂😂
This video is informative AND hilarious! Thank you sir Caco!
I’m debating whether to buy Corolla Cross hybrid which is available now with December promotions or wait 4 months for delivery for Yaris Cross hybrid at full price
If you don't mind the foot parking brake then go corolla cross
Same here havimg a delimma. In terms of ride comfort, which is better? Yx or corolla hybrid? I resd above that NVH is not that good with the yx. So ride comfort nlng.
The fender panel gap at 1:07 is HUGE! 🤨
Need Comapro: Corolla Cross and Yaris Cross
wala siyang TPMS?
We need a comparo between this and Nissan Kicks E Powet
Kicks is more refined and faster! 😀
The whole point of this vehicle is to target start-up families that have limited budget. Heck, the entire platform is suppose to be based on the concept of affordability. If I were to pick a car for a start-up family, considering the price of this yaris cross, a 2nd hand 3 year old pick-up truck would be a better option. You get a proven diesel engine, and more cargo space.
Rather than come-up with a solid product, toyota chose to bombard the market with mediocre products with one of the worst interior designs in the market and equip it with an underpowered engine. Toyota needs to step-up their game. And they also need to be realistic with their pricing. 1.6 million?? for a car that produces 91hp?
Been car shopping and this was on the higher end of my budget on my list. the interior is cramped and it felt cheap. Toyota just using their brand to get the extra hundred thousands.
Try to watch Chinese latest car review and watch toyota car review 🤣 you realise there will be more than a car!
Still need 3-6months to get one.
Not only the door closeing sounds herendos the whole car rattles on uneven roads I bought one in thialand 6 weeks ago but I reilse I’ve made a big mistake
This is starting to sell a lot of units as we speak
Yaris Cross V variant please. :)
I’ve joined the Yaris Cross group on FB and read some issues about this new vehicle. I think it’s more prone to these electrical and technical issues because it’s a DNGA platform. It’s a good car nonetheless but I’d rather have a car under the TNGA platform from Toyota.
What are the issues?
But considering DNGA is better than all the China automobiles except Geely, it is not a bad choice.
But God damn why the fxck they need to make the door of DNGA Yaris cross thinner than TNGA one. I just can't wrap my head around it 🤔
@@visalserei it's all about the money 💰😅🤣✌️
@@jpdls911 Bruhh they did everything right except that damn door, fire the one who made that thin door.
What's the Facebook page please
HOW MUCH IS REPLACEMENT BATTERY FOR HYBRIDS? I HEARD IT DOESN’T COME CHEAP. I HOPE CAR REVIEWERS WOULD ALSO MENTION THIS.
The corolla cross 1.6 HEV battery replacement (suggested after 10 years) is currenty priced at 335,000
100k and up depending on car brand. More pa if BEV.
@@shAdOwstAlkEr945 damn.
That is how most car manufacturers make their money on after sales services and parts.

Haba pila. 6 mos?

6:37 Tinulak amp! HAHHAHHAHHA!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Caco for President! 🙌💯
i felt cheated on the head unit. I bought a Fortuner V 2023 for ₱2M this July and its headunit doesn't support wireless android auto. The head unit looks outdated compare to the yaris cross.
Saan casa? Malaki head unit nung V a?
Mura na lang ang head unit ngayon na may wireless support and 360 camera pa
@@streamingvideo6654 tama lang ung laki nya, 8 inch. Pero ang hirap nung walang built in nav or wireless android auto ung headunit. A ₱2M car without a wireless android auto compared to ₱1.6M unit with a wireless android auto feature. Di ba parang ang sakit hahaha.
@@DatuProteinSheik Yes mura naman, and I'm planning to get one. Iba pa din kasi pag originally built na sa sasakyan.
Why does it look different from the model in western countries? Those look way better.
HAHAHA! Classic Boyz 2 Men song in Lethal Weapon!
this version is much better and has a way better design than the global one, and I regret this one is not available in Europe. Global version has a very ugly front and 3-cyl 1.5L engine which works like a tractor and the interior look much cheaper
10:37 means the car is poorly sound proofed like the Innova Zenix, i have spent MYR2500 on sound proofing and still not enough. lol
Hey it’s hard to order already !!!!!
Trouble is the car looks big but inside to small for family. I couldn't fit in front seat.
Exactly what held us back. U can get an suv at that price range.
hello, okay po ba ito kahit bihirang gamitin or baka masira at parating low power yung battery kpg bihira gamitin? my kotse kami pero bihirang bihira gamitin mostly city drive lng at kpg my emergency n pupuntahan sa maynila.

I don't get how reviewers are all praises with this car, while it's really not worth it for 1.6m.. pang 1m lang ang ride quality. yes it is hybrid and the toys, but that's about it.
ganyan ang pinoy reviewers
On point yung comment mo for ride quality. For 1.6m mag expect ka na ng extra finesse at power
The moment Caco stated "it's basically a Daihatsu " That I start to lost my interest on this vehicle. 😢
Baby Rav!
Hi sir, i egularly watch and enjoy your videos. Just a comment though, hope you can lessen your hand gesturea when you speak especially when you're driving. IT's just a little annoying for me. Thanks
Get a base PPV for that price hehehehe 😅
Caco sugar coating the horrendousness of the Yaris Cross. Build quality is very bad. Lots of interior creaks and vibrations.
Toyota, setting the bar high for high car prices :) Honda, hold my beer 😂
Kung maingay ito...MAZDA would be the best option.
Wow lomalaki ang masil
For the same price, the HAVAL HEV variant packs a powerful 186 HP (375 nm torque) compared to the measly 91 HP (121 nm) of YARIS HEV. Dont know much about simple parallel HEV hybrid YARIS employs, they do not harp on it much. HAVAL HEV is a strong self charging full hybrid that can operate on electric power alone at low speeds and used both electric and engine motor for high speeds. It does not need to be plugged-in as the battery is charged through regenerative braking. One must research on the advantages and trade-offs on all types of hybrids In the Phil market (parallel. series, mild, plug-In, full hybrid) before buying. BTW, MMDA exempts all hybrids from coding In compliance with RA 11697.
