Lost And Confused In Giant Thailand Mangrove Forest

  • Day 2 of the East Coast Thailand Motorbike Tour starts off with me being lost and disappointed in a gigantic Thailand mangrove forest. This place was huge! I was not sure where I was going and the boardwalk was starting to fall apart everywhere, but I made it safely. Only to discover that I walked for 45 minutes for something disappointing. It happens! Next we go and check out a really cool animal farm where an Ostrich tried to eat my hand. There were so many animals to see and feed there, it was a great time. I am starting to get weary of some of the temples in Thailand, but I couldn't pass up this magnificent white and blue temple that I found. Finally I get to a very quiet beach, where I manage to score an amazing hotel room right on the water. Join me and my trusty Honda ADV 160 as we continue to explore the East Coast of Thailand on this motorbike tour.

For your information, the "dragon" you mentioned as you visited the white-blue temple, is not the dragon. That is Naga, the Great Naga.
This link may give some basic idea about the Great Naga in Buddhism and the relation of the Lord Buddha and the Great Naga :

This warship is USS Gallup (PF-47), built in 1943, bought by Thailand from the United States. This ship had survived World War II and the Korean War. It was used by the United States for 7 years and Thailand bought it and used it for another 49 years. It was decommissioned in 2000. Have a fun trip in Thailand.

Wowww...Serg is almost lost in the mangrove swans....scary as it may looks...you're brave man 👨 searching for that battleship, which l thought was by the river, no, it's land- bound...the walking path was rather dangerous to most people, with broken pieces and a slanting walkway...bravo you have made it...the journey back to where you start is worth the Bht 60...or 40 min walking back...the animal farm 🚜 looks interesting and it's quite unique in its own way....the hotel room looks good, by the sea front and you deserve a good rest...😅 thanks Serg for bringing us along this unusual journey ...stay safe....

Many people skipped the actual province and go straight to Koh Chang but there are many interesting things you can do on the main land. About the dragon, it’s a story in the Buddha’s Teaching or “Tripitaka”.
When the Buddha still alive, there was a dragon who really admired Buddha and wanted to be a monk. But the Buddha permitted only human being. So the other being, spirit, angel, or whatever cannot be a monk. But the dragon disguised himself as a man and was ordained as a monk. One day, he shape-shifted to the dragon form while sleeping and other monk saw his real form. So the dragon could not be a monk anymore. He was so sad and plead to serve the Buddha in any form.
To honor that dragon, a man who prepare to be ordained will be called ‘Nak’ (meaning dragon) and the ordination ceremony called “บวช - นาค” (buad - nak) which means to ordain as a dragon. Plus the Thai Buddhist temple also decorated with the dragon to honor the dragon’s desire to serve the Buddha.

The dragons or nagas found in every Buddhist temple are served to protect the Buddhist temple. The Nagas are believed to be creatures in the mysterious world that have great powers. Therefore, nagas are often included as the components in Thai temple architectures.

I was laughing when you found out that there's already another convenient path to the warship apart from the adventurous one thru the mangrove. But I guess you already knew it or got some hunch on it but as usual, you wouldn't lose a chance of an adventure on your trip.
Any way, Thai authorities please fix the bridge and do it regularly. A place like that just deserves some periodical maintenance for everyone to have a safe study tour throughout year.

Another exciting trip...lost but not really Lost with Serg. Btw, there are many stories behind Naga or big snake you see in most or all Thai temples. I saw few comments about Naga. There is another story that Naga changed himself to be human and became a monk. He was caught and seen as a big snake by another monk. Because he was not human, he had to leave but his name remains until these days. This may sound contradictory and unbelievable, I am now Christian but I remember seeing Naga in a form of light in Thai temple when I was in middle school. I still remember it very well to this day 🤔

Your slanted plank walk concerned me regarding your safety and it prompted a thought about your ability to call for help should you need a rescue. On my iPhone in the US, I have “Emergency SOS.” When activated my emergency contact list is notified and emergency personnel are called even when there is no cellular service available. It uses satellite. Is there anything like that Thailand? Additionally, since you have proclaimed multiple times that you get lost. Would an “Air Tag” placed in your motorcycle allow you to get back to your transportation? Sorry for acting like a concerned parent…😂😂😂

When I say, I get lost, I just mean temporarily. I’ve never gotten lost to the point where I couldn’t find my bike or where I was. Not to worry.
That emergency SOS is available to me. I hope it work here in Thailand. I’m not being blasé, but I don’t worry too much about this stuff. I have a good Medical Insurance, I have medevac insurance, we got most of my bases covered.

traps of Thailand. these holes can sure mess up your day but I once saw one that was a rusted sewer lid. if you had step on it your leg would get penetrated by rusty spikes pretty much and what ever that sewer water is hosting.

How do you get over loneliness when traveling alone?
I plan on taking my first solo trip to Thailand at 27 years old, I've always been around family or friends so this will be interesting. I am one that can find his place where I am and experience the lifestyle and culture more than most tourist but of course we always need human interaction.

Up until a few years ago, I had always traveled with girlfriends or family. I got to the point where a lot of my friends either didn’t have the time, or couldn’t afford to go on trips. So I decided that I would rather travel on my own, then not travel at all. Get lonely at times? Sure. However, the overall experience is wonderful. Don’t overthink it. When you travel solo, it’s quite easy to integrate into other groups when you go out. Have a wonderful time!

I paid ฿102,000 about seven months ago. That worked out to be $2950 at the time with the exchange rate.
