    I tried many methods like thinking of shotput, thinking of chain reaction, focusing on drive forward, focusing for pop sholder... Be relaxed and balanced is imprtant too... But chain reaction is really good to think and u have to believe it... This things work, but i have problem with overthinking, i just forget it and then start again... Im obsessed with it and cant live without it... Sometimes im trying all day :D Hope one day get it and dont lose it... Thx for your stuff

    Great tips! Learning to relax when i punch was what helped me get that snap at the end. It felt like the more i tried to snap my shots, the more my technique suffered

    The perfect orthodox cross. starts from the feet through the hips and leave the right fly. I was throwing arm punches for so long. Once I started to use the proper techniques, I started hurting fellas. Huge difference between arm punches and what he just showed. Took me a good 8 months of training in boxing once a week to get it effective and now it's completely natural to me.

    As odd as it ma seem or sound, I find putting a hammer, or something with a bit of weight on one end and snapping it like a whip can really help teach you to get that snap. It's also a good way to condition and build that strength, speed and endurance.
    It looks and feels odd because you're kind doing a whip/fencing type motion. But the weight etc forces your arm and body to move in a way that you can literally feel the snap you're getting all through your body. Drop it after doing a few and make the same motion and you will will the snap and power. If you change stances or want to learn, it can really help you learn how to throw with that offhand.

    Good tip! I would suggest to bring back your hamd as fast as it came out, so the boxer doesn't push his punches

    • @criminaltotheworld3154
      @criminaltotheworld3154 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it the same for punching to the body? As in do you push a left hook to the body or snap a left hook to the body?

    • @harambe1596
      @harambe1596 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very good question! I had to think about it and I will say this: you want to snap it, even though it seems less powerfull (I know pushing your shots to the head is less powerfull than pushing them, but I don't know if it applies to the smae way in the body). I would snap simply because body shots are mostly thrown at short range, which means that the opponent has less disatance to cover to counter you than if you were in long range. So, to prevent counters, I would suggest to snap the body shots.

    I don't know if this will work similarly for punches, but I wore leg weights and practiced kicking and it really helps you get snap in your kicks by emphasizing the optimal path of momentum. You will naturally kick using full momentum because you'll need to to lift the weight and return to stance properly.
    I might try this with the weights around my wrists and see if it has a similar effect. I imagine what will happen is it will force me to punch with proper form, because I'll _need_ all that momentum, just like it did with kicks.

    • @soullight8632

      Moe Lims pivot is just turning off the foot. Pushing off is literally just pushing off, springing your weight off the back foot. I think you’re over complicating stuff

    My question is how about the fists? With a strong fist it is nearly impossible to snap cuz your underarm isnt relaxed. So do u have to snap loose fisted then tighten it when it impacts?

    • @soullight8632
      @soullight8632 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bihzy yeah that’s proper technique. You’re correct. Loose, then tighten as you rotate the fist. Good luck

  • @Confucius202
    @Confucius202 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fran I remember when I started with boxing, my coach back then laughed at my technique when I sparred a guy...I just went in there and started to jab,.....my coach said I have talent, but he also found it amusing what I was doing with my jab....till this day I don't know what was so amusing about it, because I felt like I was doing it good, but maybe I was terrible...I have no footage of it....so my question to you: Do you have any idea what was funny about it? What would your general guess be? Maybe poor usage of my lower body? Or just "green" in terms of punching technique like a grandmother? Or too slow? Maybe you had a student who tried to pull of a Larry Holmes and looked funny while doing it.

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No idea. Not really a fan of laughing at someone trying out skills. Maybe a smile and some corrective advice.

      If your coach laughs at you and doesn't tell you what you did wrong then he's probably a shit coach

    • @Confucius202
      @Confucius202 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He wasn't really laughing...he pointed out that I'm a talent,...it was more of a thing that finding it cute how I was doing something while not really knowing that to do...I can see see how it is amusing when a novice tries to look like a he's a slick jaber ...not saying that he's a good coach though....I remember how I sparred with one of his long-time students, and I immediately noticed how the guy was more brawling than boxing...I also noticed that he kept his head in the center line of attack...later in the dressing room I told him how to keep his head off center...he looked at me like he heard that for the first time ever....later I learned that the guy had to take years off at one point, because he got his jaw broken during an amateur fight.

  • @gmakr2701
    @gmakr2701 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but to really get that snap its all about how quickly you pull/rotate the hip back?.. Cause even when I throw a wet towel I get a bigger snap depending on how quickly I pull the towel back

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing the towel slap and a punch are different mechanics for me to be honest. If you attempted to pull the hip back too violently you are going to risk injury I would think.

    I disagree the way you explained throwing your punches is following through yeh you said throwing something ?! To snap punches is to hit fast , fast enough your opponent can't react quick enough to get out of the way . Basically in my opinion your pulling back as quick as your throwing out giving that snap ! And b4 u ask I've boxed for a long time and know every punch in the book and how to throw it ! 👊
