  • Today we take a POV drive in my 2005 2500 Yukon XL Quadrasteer. This is a 2 wheel drive 2500 with a 6.0 gas engine and a SLT trim level.

The turning circle on the Yukon is 36.5 feet as well, giving it essentially the same turning circle as a sedan. The compared it to a 2 door Saturn sedan back when they first came out👍

Didn't even know they put the quadrasteer in the SUVs. Always thought it was on the 4wd. I've almost picked up one of the trucks. They are out there and since they are older, you can get one with higher miles for around $6k. (again, you have to really search). Also, I think the sensor in the rear end is pretty expensive.
I was a younger teen when they came out and thought it was such a cool concept. I remember the GMC commercial where the guy is using the quadrasteer to back up a trailer in a tight area. Seemed like I only saw it a few times and other than that, never saw much more. You are right. They didn't market it much. GMC was obviously the test vehicle on it.

I have an 03 burb with QS. People are often in disbelief when you swing into a parking space when the lot is packed.

Also, the trailer mode changes the speed at which the wheels change their direction. In normal 4WS, the tires are in the negative phase, where they turn opposite of the front wheels, until 40 MPH. In 4WS Trailer mode, is changes this to 25 MPH, so after 25 MPH all 4 wheels will turn in the same direction, just like the regular mode at 40MPH, to help control your load better when towing. I apologize for the misinformation on the other video where I said it limits how much the rear wheels turn.

Interesting, maybe we'll have to put a camera on the back and try to sync up the speed and see what it's doing in the different modes!

If I were you I’d skip the smoked out marker lights and repaired that 6.0 immediately before it’s to late...👍👌.
I remember when GM released the quadrasteer in 2002
it came only with the 6.0 engine and if customers wanted the 496 they’d needed to give up the quadrasteer, my brother picked the quadrasteer over the 8.1 engine anyday.
I loved the looks of the yukon xl 2500/suburban 2500.
Although the yukon xl 2500 in those days was better built than the counterpart sister suburban I had that explained by the GM engineers, there are few modifications that GMC did over the Chevrolet.
The yukon xl 2500 came more expensive too about $3000.00 us dollars more over the MSRP of the suburban 2500.
Your lucky to have the right one, indeed.

What modifications/how is the GMC built better?

    • @kennykennysson1077

@@maxtrigga9952 I wish I could just copy/paste the text but I believe they said something about a better frame, suspension and other components and there you had to pay the extra for it.
It included only the GMT 800 platform not the successors.

Everything needs a turbo! I think your 8.1 would be sweet with a turbo!
