Vintage buses seen in the fading autumn light. Restored buses of various vintage take trips from the Kirkby HQ of the north west VRT

The buses look great all lit up at night. I stupidly left my bigger lens/sensor camera at home so the night shots weren't as good I hoped
Wonderful. Those incandescant bulbs of the older buses make them look really cosy and remind me of late night trips home from my nan's on the L3 back in the 70's.
Thanks. It really brings back many memories. Those warm cosy lights make everything very atmospheric. My memories are of the ribble 58 or 59 at St John's lane. They would be all lined up along with the corpy 28 & 56 buses as we crunched through the Autumn leaves falling from the trees in St John's gardens
Some of those buses do have such amazing livery on them. I have seen some of them out and about.
They try to get them out as often as they can though given the age of some they have to be careful with them.
Hi mate you must know what I’m going to say ,that GMPTE fleetline looked superb plus the Mancunians it’s the livery I really like ,the panther looked similar to the XMS they had on the first red arrow 500 route west end to Victoria they had scratchen body work (think I spelt I wrong ) I must try and get up to one of these running days I’ll look out for you mate have a coffee and a good chat ,all the best from a wet and windy Hammersmith

The Strachans bodywork does look very similar to the panther type. During the bus wars many manchester buses could be found on Merseyside routes. Mostly due to merseybus encroaching on manchester territory. If you ever get the chance to get up to one of these running days you won't be disappointed.
