$6250 to do their research, promotion, maybe approach known buyers, handle the car on site, etc, etc.
Compared to a Veyron oil change it's not that awful for the service rendered.
If it were only eBay, sight unseen, no auction master's eye involved, yeah 25% would be steep.

If I was the owner, I would start with a conversation with Iain Tyrell - even if I could not afford to go down the route of a full restoration in his shop, I would at least find out the key things to look for before recommissioning as his experience in putting bodges right on this particular model is probably 2nd to none in the UK

Yeah, but even getting him to look over it and give an opinion on what it needs isn't likely to be as straightforward as you'd think. Any successful classic specialist won't give you time of day if you just turn up with your car. I'd expect Tyrell would want it booked in for an evaluation when the workshop has availability which is likely to be weeks, if not months from now.

Would love a revisit on that rare Mk2 Granada estate chasseur if they managed to sell it or is it still regrettably stuck in that garage

All the very best to the new owner. Great to see that the Lamborghini will stay in the UK, and we will see the end result in the near future, can't wait! 👍😀👍

There’s another Late Brake Show contender on his drive too. C35 Laurel.

That would of done a lot more at a specialist car auction

Lovely for it transition into the custody of Michael, I bet he'll take great care of it.
I don't expect the ownership to change anytime soon.

That car deserved a better auction house. 30% fee is insane

i think he got a cracking deal on that, good job. I think if it had sold at a specialist car auction it would have made more money, and yeah - I'd get it roadworthy and drive it for a while too

The Espada has to be one of the best proper GT's of that era! A true pan European driver, with the luggage capacity to match! At that price Mike has himself a bargain. Thank for the update Jonny.

Sometimes you just have got to get lucky, 15 years back I bought a homologation WRC car for next to nothing and quadrupled the money.
Could have quadrupled it again by now.. ah well, I wish the owner lots of joy with the Lambo!

I'm chuckling at everyone saying here what a bargain it is, probably needs another £70k spent on it with specialists to bring into top condition so you need deep pockets. Might get it running for less but its risky to cut corners on these exotic supercars, it's not quite the same as tinkering with an old MG where you can't do too much harm 😉

    Nice.
Love a 'revisited' and so glad it went to a private buyer who's going to make it roadworthy and drive it, rather than a business looking to restore it and flip it for a profit. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Almost 15 years ago l bought a basket case 1975 Countach. It had no interior, missing rear suspension and half shafts, bad engine, rust etc. I bought it in a lot of 5 cars, sold two and kept this with two Porsche so in real US dollars l spent $48k for a Countach that needed everything. It took over a decade to get it road worthy. I wish him all the best, his plan is what l consider the best plan. I didn't think mine would ever come together but once it did is was worth it. I been watching Harry Metcalf's exploits with his Espada on his YT channel Harry's Garage. It's making me want one......

Congratulations to the new owner, and I look forward to seeing the next chapter of this story. My guess is that he will spend a fair amount of time and money recommissioning the car, enjoy driving it for a while, then sell it as a rolling restoration project. The cost of a full restoration with the likes of Iain Tyrrell will be eye-wateringly expensive, and the prospect of perhaps a £20k profit on his £31k plus recommissioning costs by selling to a well-heeled collector, having enjoyed his ownership experience, would make a lot of sense.

    • @richardharrold9736

Recovered it, cleaned it, photographed it, catalogued it... along with a ton of domestic lots worth very little. Their profit on the sale would not have been looking great without that one high-value lot...
