      would be really nice if we could hear what Mr Tyrell hears. As an owner of a carbed car it would be great if he could talk us through what the sound is perhaps with an accurate microphone placed in the intake... Please Mr Tyrell?

      I think finding someone who knows how to truly set up carbs especially on multicylinder engines, will really become a dying art. Like stonemasonry and other "ye olde England" trades so to speak. That really is a shame

    Hi From NZ! I'm a 72 year old motorcycle enthusiast who has just found your channel and what an utter delight! Given my age, motorcycling won't figure large for much longer and it will be time to buy a classic car. Not in the Espada league but still something which gives a thrill. Thank you for building my anticipation!

      Yes indeed, Harry will need to run it in on the 'cheap nasty' oil a bit more first. Then change to a premium oil before that 8000rpm, screamer drive! 😬

    This car's TH-cam career is going to single-handedly bump up the market value of every Lamborghini Espada out there!
    I know I was vaguely aware of them before, but only as a big funny-looking thing that isn't really what you think of when somebody says "Lamborghini". Like the Ferrari 400i automatic of Lamborghinis. But now my eyes are well and truly opened, what a car!

    Love Espada's. I have a great Espada story. Back in 1982 I was stationed in Chilliwack, BC. There was dealership with a light green Espada for sale. When I looked at the paperwork it said it was once owned by Paul McCartney. The price was only $24,000 Canadian. I wish I had bought it. Across the street at another dealer was a Pantera for $28,000. Ahh those were the days.

    • @danpatterson8009
      @danpatterson8009 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Somehow I don't think the asking prices are that close anymore!

    • @warren_r
      @warren_r 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have some doubts about this -- McCartney did indeed own an Espada at one point, but it was red. It was documented to be in England all through the 1970s and 1980s, and was on display at a Stoke-on-Trent bar for some years before being auctioned off.

    Having watched nearly every episode here I enjoy Iain's presentation much more than other channels covering exotic cars and farming because Iain never uses the word "bespoke". Some folks use the word so much during presentations that everything is "bespoke", which makes everything common now. Anyway, Iain's dialogue and knowledge are a pleasure to watch. 👍👍

    I was wrenching in South Florida in 1973, and had the privilege of taking out an Espada for a shakedown run...I was shocked by how wide and flat it was...kind of like a big dodge, only lower....got it up on the Florida Turnpike and shifted into 2nd when I felt it needed it....the speedo said 65mph...it was so smooth and stable...I was wowed...never forgot that car....never drove anything like it since...

    Since winning a school book prize in 1970 and getting myself the Obsservers Book of Automobiles as part of it - there are 3 cars that have held my captivation ever since - the Citroen SM , the Jensen Interceptor and the Lamborghini Espada - but I have never been brave enough to pull the trigger and buy one of them - Harry's Esapda is a lovely car and now the engine has been worked on by Ian's team it will be superb. Just love these videos - makes my ground up restoration of an Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV seem tame. Hoping there are many more insightful videos to come.

    I am 64, when I was an apprentice mechanic in Liverpool I used to attend Riversdale College. They had a workshop in Oldham St. One night waiting at the bus stop to come home there was an almighty roar and there she was, the Blue Espada. Literally it could of been a spaceship, I had never seen or heard anything like it. I will never forget that moment. It must be the same car that you owned, I was told at the time it was owned by a car dealer in town?

    Its lovely to see this level of craftsmanship at work, in a way that's hard to put into words. Few these days seem to take such pride in their trade and it is so apparent in every shot of Tyrell's; the cleanliness of the workshop itself, the way everything is organized and the paint on the cars gleam, to the way the parts are handled so reverently and the look of intense focus on the faces. Truly lovely to watch. I had enjoyed watching the clips on Harry's channel, but am now subscribed here as well. Wonderful!

    When I was at junior school (late 70's early 80's) my friend's father owned (and still owns) an Espada. As Iain says, back then, other cars were pushrod 4's! Mk1 Escorts, Hillman Imps, Cortinas, Wolsey Hornets, Rovers, Morris Minors, Renault 4s - even an occasional Datsun. These were the cars in our road. Another friend's father owned a 3l Capri, and then a Lotus Eclat - and that was very cool. But the Espada was just an amazing piece of exotica that was a total contrast to everything else. A real event to go out in it, or even see it.

    Amazing that you were able to purchase the blue Lamborghini that was your first aural experience of a V12. Sad that the original Owner died. Harry should be delighted - the engine exterior looks amazing. With modern cars mostly all you get to seen is a large tacky plakky cover. Beautiful work as always.

    A gorgeuous car and color, an amazing standard of work. Thank you!

    From a fellow Wallaseyan, another cracking instalment, Iain!
    What a lovely machine the Espada is. But that engine! Just music to my ears.
    It is a privilege to watch you at work.
    Best wishes from Liscard!

    The hose takes me back to my apprenticeship days - early 70's. Polish guy at a BMW garage taught me. Always saying "Wolwo, best car in world. I believe he worked at the same BMW garage for 20yrs LOL
