Very interesting video. I never knew they made this "behind the scenes" show, I learned a lot about their movie reviewing process and their thoughts throughout the entire experience.

I found out about it in 2011 when Ebert Presents At the Movies went back and showed some old Sneak Previews shows with Gene and Roger. It is interesting to watch and of course, as time went on, things did change in the way they reviewed films. For example, here Roger said he didn't take notes. In later years he did.

Very generous of these two; many professionals don’t want us to c behind the scenes

The more we learn from their reviews & experiences, the better citrics we become.

You are taking these from the website, correct? Well, if they get taken down here, I know where to go to to see it.

Thank you so much for uploading this! This was so interesting, I sometimes wondered what the day to day life of Siskel and Eberts jobs were like

Gene Siskel is only 35yrs old here which is 2yrs older than I am now, but he looks and acts like someone much much older.

I guess what you’re saying is people are more immature and childish today?

@@brileyvandyke5792 Well there’s no doubt people are generally more immature today, but I’m also referring to his appearance in his mid-30’s, he looks much older than he is.

See The Black Marble! It’s a truly underrated movie. Which puts me squarely in Ebert’s camp on this one. Harry Dean Stanton’s performance is one for the ages and Robert Foxworth and Paula Prentiss are terrific! It’s finally back in print from Kino Lorber so definitely give it a chance.
I really love this episode of Sneak Previews. You learn a lot about the process and realize that they are thinking a lot of different things while watching any movie. This movie is used as a perfect example of such.

It is a very good episode. Shows that they really knew and loved their jobs.

Interesting that Siskel has a poster for The Black Hole in his office. Neither critic liked the film.

Why was this not included on Kino Lorber’s recent Blu-ray release of the Black Marble is beyond me.

I’m not sure but I believe it was a rights issue. It took Kino almost two full years to get this out (More because they were waiting for StudioCanal to supply them with that 4K transfer) but I bet this may have been another reason for the delay too. They probably got close but ultimately couldn’t get it.
