I still have this on VHS from when i recorded it back in October 1990,a week later I went to see them on the Bossonova tour in Hanley ,Stoke on Trent .Brilliant times!
Genius = someone who changes the way things are forever after they leave. Genius = Mr Black Francis. Genius= Mr Joey Santiago Genius =Mr David Lovering Genius= The one and only KIM DEAL!! I saw them when I was Eighteen in 1990. Started behind a red screen with Cecillia Ann before the redscreen dropped and they launched into Rock Music. Best gig ever, if only because I was Eighteen, but more so because they encapsulated perfectly how I was feeling whilst being Eighteen..
Saw the Pixies at Sheffield City Hall around this time period. It still rates as my best ever gig. They came on to Celia Ann and the atmosphere was electric. I remember standing at the front right by Kim Deals feet and the crowd just erupted into a mass of moshing bodies, a fantastic night!
man, i didny remember that they were on this show. I live in the UK, and it's from a long defunct show called the word, which introduced many many bands to UK TV, like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, L7 (when the bass player showed her bush at the end of the song - class!!). it was a pretty out-there show that provoked and push taste barriers, but the music was almost always great. Music that i hadn't heard 'til that point. the audience never knew what band was coming on; don't be too hard on em!
This medley of sorts works so well. I wonder why they didn't do it like this on record. I edited the two songs together myself and it sounds really good.
I always thought Black Francis was the main guitarist but from watching all these youtube videos it seems Joey Santiago plays all the lead; My hat off to him he fuckin rules!
just because the smiths had emotional music doesn't mean they started "emo" c'mon, there was echo and the bunnymen, the cure, joy division.. bands before them that had emotional lyrics and feelings.. oh and the buzzcocks too.
Every cable music show in the 90s had that fake-o dancing :). Fantastic song - it's nice to know that they can replicate it live.

Thanks for posting this. My favorite band of all time.
Damn! This performance is amazing and for me this cover from Cecilia Ann is the best!!!

This is the best version of Allison EVAR. And Allison is my fave pixies song (i know, weird).
My favourite too
If A Clockwork Orange and Family Double Dare had a child, it would be this set.
Love the instrumental, very Link Wrayish!!! :))
It should be, it's a cover of an old surf rock tune.
The camera guy was definitely a guitarist zooming in on the right hand
I remember when this was broadcast, that makes me feel reeeaaally old!
wow...ive never seen the pixies play cecilia ann before...thanx!!!
Wish they would just play for ever and ever.
At first I thought the video might be flipped because they're lined up in the opposite way of every other live show I've seen.
Señorita Allí 😌😻
Word!
That was the coolest!
Part #1 is the prettiest surf-esque song by the Pixies band

This is a good set played on a terrible set.
+payne tyler Fortunately, the good set offsets the terrible set, so they're all set.
Nice dancers !

It looks like a MUSIC MAN.
Sounds like Summer
Evin Paauwe cover if a surfer band
man.. the people from the 90s were hip..
Okay
knights of cydonia and this song do have similarities but the muse song in better at least imo
Ok cool🙄
just because the smiths had emotional music doesn't mean they started "emo" c'mon, there was echo and the bunnymen, the cure, joy division.. bands before them that had emotional lyrics and feelings.. oh and the buzzcocks too.

No shit Sherlock ?, "The Word" in big fucking letters kind of gives it away, don't You think ?.
marry me Kim!!
only Kim deal won't get bald here
Bossanova
Presumably "The Smiths" means nothing to You ?.
here's an idea.. stop comparing bands to each other......
No Terry Christian no deal
I really love Allison.. but here they sang it in a horrible way
omg... stupid disco dancing... the only good thing in 80s is The Pixies
DUde, this song fucking blows compared to Knights of Cydonia.
They're not even on the same scale.
