  • Stuntman Live returns with yet another stunt.
This time he's going to see if he has the balls to jump out of a moving car. How far is he willing to go?
Got an idea for a stunt? Tell me and I'll break myself doing it.
    Take a look for yourself..

+Igwe Princewill Why would they think you would roll backwards?...

+sassui90 i wonder how their brain functions. d idea of when u throw something out of a car, it goes backwards, but in actual sense it's the car which is still in motion that gives the illusion.

+sassui90 i even tried explaining using bomber planes from WW2. when the bombs are dropped they don't fall straight. sassui it was me against about 5 people. we're in med school. so i guess their physics related thinking is poor

      The stuntman rolled backwards once.

Almost all intro, half assed barrel-roll out if the car...and on top of all that for me to give you a thumbs up and subscribe, you better do a full roll and run back into the car..._You_ are the driver.

okay so, since you're doing it here, i figure i can ask you. I want to write a character jumping from a car, onto sidewalk, just a shirt and jeans so no real padding. At say... 25 mph. What sort of injuries would they get? Like, what areas would be sore? Would they possibly break a bone? would any of their clothes rip and how bad? How long before adrenaline wore off and they realized they were really hurt, if they even were?

Hello! I assume this is for a writing project, and I'd love to hear updates on it as an aspiring author myself. At around 25 mph, I'd say the emotional reaction would depend on how experienced your character is at performing these stunts. Assuming that this is their first time and that they are fleeing a major threat, I believe that the impact would be slightly jarring, but not overwhelming enough to stun or disable your character, or to distract them from their primary task of escaping. I would add more, but I think that a lot of the aftermath depends on the character. If you could give me some more details, perhaps about the event and even some of the personality traits of the character in question, I could tell you more (the reaction of the character may convey tone and lead to further development of their arc. I presume you came only for the physical response, but again, everything in this scene will contribute to the character and the conflict, so it is critical that the response mirrors in some way the demeanor of the character. For example, a cocky or arrogant character may emerge from the ordeal thrilled and exhilarated, experiencing minor soreness later, while a less confident one may end up with flesh wounds, battered and weary.) Other than that, I'd say broken bones and torn clothing are unlikely, unless the pavement is exceptionally jagged and the clothing is exceptionally weak. :) Sorry for such a long response, I hope this helps!

well i don't like to share things typically but i guess i should in this case. the character is in the car with a friend, and gets a text from someone who's neighborhood they were passing through. they actually had just passed the persons house. she abruptly tells the person driving they need to stop the car. the driver instead questions her, and she proceeds to fling herself from the car because she wasn't in the mood to play games. I feel like its important to mention this person is overweight, since that would affect the physics of it. I understand where you're coming from, wanting what happens to the character to match their character, and i agree to an extent. but i was asking for the pure physics of it so that i can tweak things depending on the character. like how the character i mentioned would think practically and not dive out hands first (so no sprained/broken wrists/elbows) but wouldn't know how to roll properly and would injure her back/shoulder to some extent. she also would - i think - be more likely to skid/get road rash since she is larger than most other people. but how much is the question i want answered. I appreciate you trying to help me. ;^^>
