The title is misleading Lana had written the lyrics and melodies of the entirety of the song but she wanted to hear how it would sounded with rick nowels’ chords and arrangements Besjdes, the lyrics are just too Lana dont u think
It’s normal for artists who are just starting out not to have full control over writing their songs, and that's not a bad thing; I think it happens to everyone at the beginning. Also, considering the kind of writing Lana has now, it’s quite noticeable that most of the lyrics weren’t written solely by her, or at least she had some company in writing them
@@giovanni_9571 prior to writing summertime, lana already had 5 years of songwriting though and i still think that the lyrics of summertime is just very on brand for lana… in fact she admitted that there’s one line in diet mountain dew and lolita which actually, she didn’t wrote it herself! ;)
According to the credits, Rick Nowels wrote most of the lyrics. But what I am sure of is that she wrote the entire bridge. Also, it's important to clarify that this was at the beginning of what would become Lana Del Rey, so I believe they were just starting to believe in her talent.
