As a British person, I want to apologise. In British schools we learn about how terribly we treated the people from the countries we conquered: we spend one year on this, it’s not enough. We watch videos about how we don’t spend enough time on the subject: yet people in the classes (they’re 12-13) make racist comments and don’t get punished for it.
Again I’m truly sorry about the horrors that my country has put your country through.

      Deku
I also live in Britain, I was born and raised there but my parents are both Ghanian - I agree with you there. What happens is schools tend to only aim to teach the positive things about their countries history, and they avoid the dark things. I think we need to learn about it more, because doing that contributes to things like discrimination and less attention to things like slavery.

Come to think of it, they came into our landmass and the first thing they thought of was to divide based on vegetation? The native leaders could not have known though, we've always lacked foresight compared to the whites.

The British did not modernise the world, they just went around making self sufficient tribes that had their own traditional medicine, culture... believe they were inferior when they actually were not and using machine guns to bully them into forming one country thereby creating mire disorder and then claiming later they wanted to bring the country to order. Wearing clothes, western education, technology, electricity and modern medicine is not all that it is cut out to be. Also the British just went around the world and basically took a lot of ideas from other countries and presented it as their own during the British Empire especially from Asian countries. Making people believe they need so much crap that they can survive without, thereby reducing the earth's natural resources and causing more deforestation around the world on top of that making millions of people all over the world believe living in the Western world is the best thing that can happen to them to me is not modernisation. Yes I am using technology right now but as someone who grew up sometimes not around so much technology and electricity trust me it is overrated and I can definitely survive without it. Forcing tribes that were just minding their own business and making all of them into one country, then changing their way if life and their currency so they became poor and were no longer able to be self sufficient is definitely not my definition of modernisation. Same way people go around saying Europeans discovered places that were not missing in the first place or did the tribes come and tell you that their river or country was missing. I laugh when people decide they want to be naturist or eat more organic food and meat, or take more natural herbal medications, or use more biodegradable materials to build houses, or get tattoos erm isn't that what a lot of people were doing before some people decided we needed modernisation. The British Empire was not trying to modernise anybody they were just business people who seeked opportunities to make money. If this meant spreading religion, opening a few schools here and there and having infrastructure in place to suit their needs in whichever country they governed that is what they did. Has all the advancement in technology and medicine made the world a better place compared to 200 years ago?. All tribes all over the world have always had their own traditional health care system. Also developing the technology for guns and bullying other countries using this is the only reason the British Empire was able to takeover a lot of countries, it doesn't exactly make them look like Angels
