      Antwain Gray the fact he's closing all 8000 company stores for a day is obviously gonna affects their sales. How is that "fooling" people?

      Cordney Manns I agree. But I'm not satisfied with the answer of "she is no longer at that store". So, at what store will she show her fear next?

      I can understand your anger, but give it a break. We're not all "the devil".
      Yesterday, I was walking into Walmart and passed a guy with a Mazda car with back door and trunk open. Beside the car, I saw a guy on his cell with a big BBQ grill beside him. it was apparent he couldn't fit the grill in his car and was probably trying to call someone for help.
      I drive a 2010 Ford Ranger pick-up, and I've often noticed people in parking lots (such as Home Depot) with the same problem: They bought something and can't fit it into their car. And, so, yeah, I have often gone over and offered to transport the item for them. I do it because I can easily put myself in their place.
      Anyway, I went over to guy and offered my services. Also offered to let him hold my driver's license (I've learned to do this) while I followed him home with his grill (in case he worried I was trying to scam him out of his grill).
      Guy looked at me with puzzlement and suspicion. Exchanged cell numbers (my idea in case I lost him in traffic). Followed him home and helped him get grill out of my truck. He said thank you and I left.
      I'm a 64 year old white women who lives in Texas. The guy was a much younger black guy and judging from his accent, he was Nigerian (who spoke excellent English).
      And, yeah, I do this for people. Did it matter that he was black? Of course not. I was happy for him that he was able to get his new grill home. (I know how ALL guys are about BBQ'ing. lol).
      So, am I a "white" devil? I don't think so. We whites are NOT all alike any more than people of any other race are all alike.

      TCHOH DHAHZ We Don’t call each other that. We call each other nigga which means my pal (if one black person says it to another black). But if a white person says that it is always gonna have a double meaning to it. We took about our word and turned the mean into something that shows we are strong as a community. And whenever another race bring us down we always come back up but better than ever

      If you want to solve this problem . . . FIRE . . . do not REASSIGN . . . this employee.
      Starbucks doesn't need to put it's primary focus on "training" . . . the primary focus needs to be ACCOUNTABILITY for behavior that flies in the obvious face of treating all people with dignity & respect.
      If there is a consequence, employee behavior will change . . . even if their RACIST MINDSETS will not.
      Oh and one other thing, it doesn't matter if this "manager" is White, Black, Latino, or Asian. They should be fired. When that becomes part of Starbucks lore . . . water cooler talk . . . black men will be treated equally and fairly compared to everyone else.

  • @tjputzier
    @tjputzier 6 ปีที่แล้ว +198

    Why the handcuffs? Trespassing sould end with a warning or a fine, no handcuffs. Treat people the way you want to be treated, it's pretty simple people

    • @unknownunknown4029
      @unknownunknown4029 6 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Who says they were trespassing? Is there a time limit on sitting before ordering? What is it at a restaurant or a bar? They didn't say they were not going to order anything, they were just waiting for their friend/co-worker. So, if a black person goes to a Macaroni Grill and stands or sit in the lobby waiting for the rest of their party to arrive, should they be arrested?

    • @Joseph1NJ

    • @biplav32
      @biplav32 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you commit a crime and don't comply with the repeated request of cops, they will get arrested. They were trespassing because the manger wanted them out and they stayed. Have dumbocrats lost common sense along with the elections?

      Closing retail stores is total BS. Philly's a black, racist city teeming with blacks opportunistically looking to cause trouble. It's always about getting something free from the establishment. Money's preferred. Starbucks has always been good about phony public relations.

    • @meatloafthedad6685
      @meatloafthedad6685 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Peter, that's probably one of the most ignorent things I've heard in a while. "Blacks opportunistically looking to cause trouble". Something tells me that you think the manager was justified to call the police. I think that thinking is proof of, and part of a larger problem that this event has highlighted.

    • @TrueTrife
      @TrueTrife 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter J. Andros These men are graduates in Real Estate, I can assure you they weren't "opportunistically looking to cause trouble".

      When I go to a coffee shop, Starbucks or any other, I see people sitting there with a coffee, tea, pastry, or something.
      "word of hundreds"
      that's a lot of people to fit in a coffee shop.
      "You don't want to accept the truth so you think black people are making this shit up or lying! Don't flatter yourselves! You're not that important! "
      I think the left is PC and therefore has a prescribed outcome in any situation. They are religious, dogmatic. This is a list of their "devils"
      1.Whites
      2. Males
      3. Christian
      4. Conservative.
      5. Corporations.
      6. America
      7. Western culture
      You can predict ANY narrative or position by consulting that list. To the lefts religion, black people can NEVER be held accountable for anything, EVER.

      Nick; there was no problem. and I call bullshit... How many people refusing to buy someting at your starbucks did you have to kick out personally? If you say none.. I call bullshit.

    • @ziggymo88
      @ziggymo88 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thomas Korn I never personally kicked out a customer. If ever there was a customer that was acting out of line, then I would notify my manager, and he would take action. These instances were rare but they did happen. We had a few panhandlers who would hassle people for money, and one customer using the internet to look at porn. To your point though, while I certainly get that it’s common courtesy to order food or a drink at a business, the men were not behaving in an unlawful or egregious manner. They were simply sitting at the table and having a conversation. If I worked at that Starbucks, perhaps I would be a little irritated, but not enough to call the police. Just the other day, I went to a coffee shop where two white thirty something year olds who were meeting for business did not order a drink for nearly 20. Yet management didn’t do anything in that instance. That’s all that I’m saying.

    • @Kornknealious
      @Kornknealious 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick, I"m gonna call bullshit on that. I've been to many different starbucks around many different states. There wasn't at least one time in each individual store where I saw an employee ask someone to buy something.. or just flat out leave. and guess what... most thetime when asked to leave.. they left. The ones that did not.. guess what.. cops were called for.. guess what.. criminal trespass.
      As for the "gentelmen" in question... they were, in fact, asked to purchase something since one of them asked to use the bathroom.. while carrying a bottle of water he clearly purchased somewhere else in hand. It is 99% likely, they were there longer than 2 minutes (because if you break down all the events that should happen in those alleged 2 minutes, you'd think they had a time turner)
      Plain and simple .. there was no evidence of racial bias what so ever on anyones part execpt the people crying "racism"

    • @Kornknealious
      @Kornknealious 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh yeah.. the guy asking to use the bathroom instantly refused to purchase something when politely asked to. Granted, calling the cops *may* have been excessive...but this is a store in an urban area with a lot of homeless people attempting to sleep...or use the bathroom to bathe in .. or drug addits to shoot up and OD and die in...so I'm gonna side with the managment just a teeny bit as there is zero evidence of any racial bias what so ever still

I agree that the store manager was completely wrong (and she should have been fired), Mr. Johnson as the CEO is obviously remorseful, however I wouldn’t equate him to Hitler. Can anyone explain to how this whole incident was racist? Here in Europe we have alot of restaurants/ stores that abide by the same bathroom rules (ie u aren't allowed in unless u buy something in the store) yet no one makes a fuss about it here? The two black men were asked by employees to buy somthing, which they refused, then they were asked to leave, which they refused, then the employees called the police who asked the 3 times to leave, which they refused - so they arrested them and took them out by force. I don't see anything wrong here? Were the employees just supposed to give up asking them to leave and let them break the company rules without consequence? Am i missing something?

    If somebody asks you to leave their home and they refuse, they're put in handcuffs. It's the same in a private business. It's part of our property ownership rights, and they will usually just walk you outside, warn you, then handcuff you. The policy they used was the same one fast food restaurants everywhere have always used. No loitering. They do this because homeless people will overdose in the bathrooms, leaving them legally liable, and even risking a shutdown. They'll also sit in the lobby, stinking the place up and stand outside asking people for money.

    I could feel CEO Kevin Johnson's heart and he really was affected by what had happen, but, the Law officers was also in the wrong. They could have handle that better by taking the two men out, talked to them and let them go on their way, but, they was black and that alone is a danger. I thank CEO Kevin Johnson and the rest of the company because they didn't try to put the blame on anyone else, they just took action. NO OTHER CO. HAS DONE THAT EVER THAT I know about. Thanks for being an example for other. In the USA right now all the evil is rising to the top, and it will take people like Starbucks to stand up to make things better. Thanks and God Bless You STARBUCKS!

    I worked at Starbucks for almost a decade and there were people who would come and get a free water and stay for hours but it was always Howard's core value that Starbucks was a place for community. Homeless people have come in and stayed and we were always instructed by managers as long as they don't steal or cause a disturbance to leave them be. It's SUPPOSED to be WELCOMING.

    Kudos to Starbucks's CEO Kevin Johnson on his honesty towards this preventable incident.
    It all starts from the staff in all the Starbuck's and any poorly trained staff can make something small and blow it up into something that it shouldn't.
    Take a look at the recent LA Fitness fiasco where the manager and 2 other employees got fired for calling the police on a long time gym member.
