Watching from Oregon in the US. Thank you for your channel! I learn so much! I've watched you use rice water, coffee, tea, garlic, aloe and I think ginger. can you do a comparison video about the different results you get with each one? Does one make more blooms, and another thicker roots and another grows orchids faster Are some better in different seasons? Do you suggest any specific nutrients for specific results?
I would take any advice here with a grain of salt. I nearly killed all of my beautiful orchids using coffee grains. They’re just starting to recover after many months. Not everything here is true. People use TH-cam channels as a source of income.
Thank you so much for watching the channel and for sharing this great question! 😊 I’m so glad that you’re learning a lot from my videos. I will consider making a comparison video about the different results from rice water, coffee, tea, garlic, aloe, and ginger in orchid care. Each ingredient has its own benefits: Rice water helps with root growth and plant development. Coffee boosts plant health, but be careful with the amount because coffee can be slightly acidic. Tea is a good source of nutrients and helps keep orchids healthy. Garlic is a natural antibacterial that protects plants from fungal diseases. Aloe is great for healing wounds and promoting healthy growth. Ginger stimulates growth and strengthens the plant. Regarding seasons, you can try these ingredients in different seasons and observe the results, but overall, these natural ingredients are great for supporting your plant throughout the year. If you want more blooms, focus on providing nutrients from rice water and coffee. If you want thicker roots, ginger and aloe might be the better choice. I’ll make a more detailed video so you can easily compare and pick the best ingredients for your orchids! 🌸
Two thumbs up. All your orchids are very lucky to receive such serious, empathetic care. Can I also use black tea and a spoonful of baking soda to fertilize plants other than orchids?
Hi. I have 2 orchids that have another orchid each growing. Do I leave the new orchid in the plant or remove it? How do I split it without ruining it? Thank you. Fr. PTO. RICO
Thank you for your question! 🌱 When a new orchid (keiki) grows on the mother plant, you can leave it if you prefer both the mother and baby plants to grow together. However, if you'd like to separate them, ensure the keiki has roots at least 3-5 cm long and at least 2-3 leaves. To separate: Sterilize your cutting tool (knife or scissors). Gently cut the keiki close to its base, avoiding damage to the roots. Plant the keiki in a new pot with suitable growing media and keep it lightly moist. Place it in a spot with gentle light and monitor its care closely. Wishing you success and healthy growth for both plants! 🌺

Absolutely! Natural fertilizers can be used for many different types of plants, including vegetables. Ingredients like banana peels, apple peels, coffee, or ginger are very effective in providing nutrients to the soil and helping plants grow strong. Especially for vegetables, natural fertilizers ensure safe and clean produce. If you have any questions on how to use them for vegetables, feel free to ask! 🌱

Hello Im watching you from California. My question to you is, what do you do with Cattaleya buds that have bo leaves or flowers. They have already bloomed and are just taking up space
Thank you for asking this question! When the Cattaleya buds have already bloomed and no longer have leaves or flowers, you can cut off the spent flower stems to help the plant focus on growing new roots and leaves. If the plant is still healthy and has new shoots, you can leave the stem. However, if the plant isn't growing further or shows signs of being unhealthy, you should trim off the unhealthy parts to help the plant recover. Make sure the plant still receives adequate light and moisture. 🌸
Thank you for your question! 🌱 For orchids, pots with drainage holes are essential to prevent waterlogging. You can choose clear plastic pots because orchids need light for their roots, and the transparent pots allow you to easily observe the root condition. You can also go for clay or wooden pots if you prefer a more natural look, but make sure they have good drainage. Wishing you success in taking care of your orchids in Baltimore! 🌸
Thank you for your observation! 😊 That’s correct-some of the plants in the video may have never bloomed. These are often younger plants or ones that have been stressed and haven’t reached the conditions needed to flower. With proper care and nutrition, I believe they will bloom in the future. If you’d like tips on how to encourage orchids to bloom, I’d be happy to share! 🌺
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! 😊 I truly respect your 30+ years of experience growing orchids. My video is based on methods I’ve learned and tested with orchids, but I understand that everyone has unique experiences and approaches to care.
