I remember playing this demo in a GameStop not knowing what to expect, then the music started and I was like “Is that Black Betty? It is! Then the goblins started singing and I was just thrilled.”
I had no idea who betty black was but 10 years after playing the demo I instrumental kept replaying in my head and I had no idea where to start searching so I could find the source and coincidentally 2 months later lords of the algorithm blessed me with a reel with the original black betty song, tears ran down my eyes as I began to search”betty black reyman” and this masterpiece was at the top of the list. Inner child healed.
This brings me so many memories, I remember play this level over and over again with my brother because we kept dying. When we finally finished it, I was so happy lol
Toytree also did a banjo and in an electronic song no less. Look for Black Canyon song from Strafe, at around 0:10 there's a banjo that only appears for 3 seconds.
I remember downloading this demo on my PS3 about 6-7 years ago and I really liked it, I was about 9. Today I found the masterpiece of a song that is Black Betty and it rung a bell until I noticed that it had the same rhythm as the song from this demo. What a coincidence and this just gives me so many memories
This level is a perfect audiovisual work of art. How they handled each segment of the song and throwing in surprises along the way, particularly the instrumental parts and solos, was masterful. Every level in Rayman Legends was expertly designed, but it was the rhythm levels that kept me coming back to that game.
quite possibly one f my favorite levels in a game ever, it was so awesome when i played it for the first time, because i wasn't expecting it, and the way everything goes to the music is just awesome.
My son was playing this one day, I was in the next room and I start to hear Black Betty playing. I was like what is he doing. I go in and see this going on and the music playing and was like what the ? I was cracking up at how the music and what was going on matched so well.
This was the first Rayman level Ive ever played, it was in Walmart on WiiU demo, I replayed this over and over till my mother was time to go. Best moments of my life
I miss when AAA games were allowed to be creative. There were things like this that, as amazing as indies have become, only that kind of backing could create.
Can't believe they have never done a Rayman followup after the success of this and Origins before it. Don't think Origins is even on modern systems is it?
istg the amount of nostalgia this gives me- i remember me and my brother spent the whole summer vacation to play this game- this was for sure the best= level in the whole game.. dangg i miss those daaaayss
I remember my older sister and I playing this level for the first time together and after it finished we just started at each other in awe of what we just played
my wife plays this with my kid loves this song, he tries to tell every one he meets about rayman but no one knows what hes talking about... really gotta get him new games
I never knew this was a thing until a random outside xbox video where I saw a clip (unrelated). I'm so glad this is thing though. This was awesome. Truly Awesome!
I just randomly found the song "Black Betty" on YT and was like.. "I know that song from a game i played years ago" but couldn't think of which game then i looked at the games from my profile picture that i made like 10 years ago and realised its from Rayman :p
Many people are saying Rayman is a kids game. But face it. I am a fan of him since i was a kid but i could never complete the games because it was so difficult. Nowadays i still play them because i like the game. And now i can say that this is not a kid game. It's hard gameplay and without having the need to continue you will quit soon. Above all when there is Black Betty in a game you KNOW it's not a kids game dammit.
I remember when i played rayman 3 and in the level of the land of the livid deads i realized that the teens statues were not statues but dead teens mummified .. it was kinda creepy and sad
This level was so awesome. When I got to it in the actual game I played it about four times straight just because it rocked THAT @#$%ING HARD. I was busting up laughing by the end.
Absolutely loved that music. Later I even started to hear that song sometimes and I was thinking that its just in-game version. Today found out it was called Black Betty
There NEEDS to be a DLC game of Ray-man where it's just all musical platformers. Get on it Ubisoft!
Dlc? Have a whole new game of it.
That sounds awesome
Gamemaster64 Yes, PLEASE!
+Conor Wade This is my absolute favorite level. This needs to happen.
Mystery Mudokon it doses and its my favorite it to

I freaking love the banjo they put into this tune @1:18, you'd think it wouldn't work in this song but it does!
It's a nod to the Spiderbait cover of this original song :)
And the Kazooo!!!

My favorite out of the music levels. What can I say, I'm a classic rock chick.

I was still aching for Origins' full animated style and was feeling all nostalgic 'n shit, but then this happened and I was so on board with Legends.
Still the most goated rayman stage I’ve ever seen

I never finished Rayman because for my young brain it was way too hard, but I will always remember this stage and it holds a special place in my heart
As a child, I passed this level from 3-4 times, And now for me it is as easy as holding a match with my little finger.
wasn't expecting this to be in this
What a game, what a level. Impossible to play without smiling all the way.
WHY DID NO ONE EVER TELL ME ABOUT THIS?!
Honestly underrated game. Lovely art and the music was killer.
Just played this level at my friend's house yesterday. Never played a Rayman game before this. What a treat of a level.
I found a demo of this in public and I was in love with this. This was such a cool idea.
