I shot one of those Nikon's -- they were originally released in 1967 -- I was shooting mine (inherited) around 1980. I was able to shoot 4+ cartridges on one set of AA batteries (and light-meter batteries). Was built like a tank (and weighed like one!). Not a real XL camera. but the lens opened to f1.8 -- and the lens was *sharp* -- not too hard to focus either. Shoots single frame with a cable release, I did some animation with it also. The frame registration was pretty solid compared to the cheaper/consumer cameras. If the motor works, and the lens is clean, it's a great camera....
The new Kodak Super 8 camera SDcard slot is for sound. USB charging for the camera power. C-mount for the lens (awesome!). Extended gate capture (for 14:9 image). And crystal sync at 24fps. Really a bunch of great modern features -- but *YIKES* the price!!!
I mostly use Bolex Rex 16mm and a few 8mm Bolex cameras. This year when I was in Germany the owner of the camera shop gave me a Bauer Super 8. I love this thing to toss in the bag for light travel. 🤭
I got the Canon AF310XL and Nizo Integral 10 I bought off eBay for a low price to come to life with white vinegar cleaning of the contacts! Both seem to work pretty well! Focusing things correctly is usually my error lol.
ARGH! I found a Elmo 8-TL4 (a most wanted list camera for me) and everything looked mint and perfect until I opened the battery compartment! Somebody left vintage batteries in for so long the inside was rusted and one of the contacts was broken off! Such a damn shame for a rare and desirable regular 8MM camera! I wonder if it can be repaired or do I have to wait maybe a year or two for another one to show on eBay?

I just scored an 8mm with a triple lens turret. It runs smooth so this is good timing.
Congratulations. Give a search on TH-cam - there's probably a tutorial.
