1 heat of 8 athletes participating in a 20 minute jam session, taking as many runs within the time frame. Best run counts, with the best run ranked 1-8. Judges will rank competitors throughout the contest.

The flair whip catch whip was actually insane and you could hear how crazy it was by Scotty's voice. I think the judges botched this comp.

@@bomberpooper remove one whip from the top 3 tricks. Now you're comparing a massive flip 180 to fakie, vs a 900, vs a flair whip. Personally I think the first one is the most impressive, or at least the least common. I'm sure KP can do the latter 2 (a 900 or a flair whip), but I'm not sure the other riders can do what he did (huge flip 180 to fakie).

@@matthoover111 it’s not a flair to fakie it’s a whip. Never seen Kevin do a 900 but I’ve seen him do this numerous times so to me it’s kinda a moot point.
All the love for KP, and landing that trick on that box backwards is INSANE, but 9-whip feels like the win there.
Remove the whip from both tricks, and now you're comparing (1) a flair over a giant box landing fakie to (2) a 900. I think the 1st trick is far less common, probably because it's far more difficult.

Justin Dowell was right when he was saying before the camera cut.. "How on earth does a flair whip fakie for the 10th year in a row"... camera then cut. I assume he was going to say "get first place". And I completely agree with him. I had Varga, Dowell, Sandoval or Varga, Sandoval, Dowell. Could have went either way. We've seen Peraza do this trick a million times. It's not rewarding progression which is what should be first and foremost in this best trick competition. Its a difficult trick, yes, but it's been done too much. Judges got it wrong

You're obviously stuck on the name of the trick and want to argue that instead of the actual difficulty and all around genuineness of it. It's been done before many times by him. It's nothing special in terms of BMX in 2024, sorry if you're butthurt over my opinion. Feel free to call me other names now. I'm pretty sure you're going too

The technicality of Sandoval trick is way higher than Peraza
flair whip catch whip is less difficult than a flair whip to fakie... arguably. All day every day I'd be more afraid of the flair whip fakie vs flair whip catch whip. KP's trick was more dangerous

Its literally the same thing from peraza every year. Not taking anything away from Kevin, he is one of the best riders overall in the world but definitely did not deserve gold this year... judging for bmx this year period was absolutey a heaping botched pile of junk. Yep, XGames have always been bricked up for Kevin. Nothing to take away from his riding because its incredible but I don't think anyone agreed he should of won that.

@@mikedevlin_bmx2446they are undoubtedly fun to ride, but bowls are absolutely lame for x games. The riders can’t push themselves as far as they could if they had their own course.
I agree that the riders can’t necessarily do their biggest tricks, but: I think we should keep the ramp parks for FISE/Olympics and continue to share a concrete park with the skaters here for a number of reasons.
- it shows cities that we can and do coexist, that a seperate park isn’t needed for both and that bikes don’t need to be locked out
- it makes BMX seem more accessible. There are concrete skateparks in so many towns and cities around the world while those big ramp parks might as well not exist
- variety is good; I like watching people compete on different terrain and it’s cool to see diverse styles rewarded. Dovey ain’t getting 6th at FISE but he could do that or better here.
540 flair whip of Varga was the real best trick win. Peraza ever wins with the SAME TRICKS. Where a flair whip to fakie would win that monstruous trick of Varga? Peraza is much hype for little thing.
