Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - On The Top (Live in Kiev) Jinjer - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Official Live) Jinjer - Captain Clock (Live at Resurrection Fest 2018)
A brief Jinjer drummer history. Their drummer was in a terrible accident. He fell out of a window and broke his back so had to quit. They got their friend Dmitry Kim to fill in until they found a permanent drummer. He was an excellent drummer, but didnt want to deal with the touring. He was the drummer on their King if Everything album, which included this song and Pisces. They found Vlad to take over and wanted to showcase him so they did the Pisces video with Vlad to show off their new drummer...and that video went viral and is a huge reason they are so popular now.
The title track of of their latest album is Wallflower is a slow and pretty build into the heaviness. But the Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev is always in my top 5 Jinjer songs because they just smash the loud pedal as soon as the song starts.
I noticed you wearing a nirvana shirt and wanted to mention that jinjer did a cover of territorial pissing together with suicide silence. Worth a listen.
Also, if you search "The Kodry Nirvana" here on YT, there is video of a young Tatiana singing in one of her old bands before Jinjer. They are doing covers of Nirvana and you can also spot a young Eugene in the video at the end giving Tatiana a hug
"I Speak Astronomy" is definitely one of their most liked song, no wonder it is listed as n°1 most played live on the setlist website. I would suggest "Pit of Consciousness live at Kiev" next :)
Dmitry Kim is the drummer in this one. He came in after drummer Eugene Mantulin fell out a window and broke his back. Kim didn't want to commit long term to the band because of their insane touring schedule, so he was just filling in until they found a permanent replacement. When Vlad came along he stepped down from the kit but he did contribute with some engineering stuff on their Macro album. Not sure if he worked on Wallflowers with them, but they remain on friendly terms.
If I am not mistaken, Dmitry Kim is the engineer in studio for drums for Jinjer and also works with Sasha their live sound guy. Also not sure about Wallflowers album cycle but Jinjer has more or less used the same producer (Max Morton) and engineers for the entire time the band has been around (even before any of the current members were in the band)
That drummer, Dimitry Kim, left because he didn't like touring out of country. In fact every current member of the band is not an original member. They don't even know why the band name is Jinjer. Vlad Ulasevich joined in 2016. He is a concert pianist. He taught himselt to play drums out of necessity.
Pit of Consciousness live Kiev from 2019 in their home country Ukraine is Tatiana at her best and a good contrast would be a very early Jinjer the live video of Crowd Factory Official DVD Trailer which is the song Exposed as a liar from around 2014 or even earlier.Subscribed for you sorry it took so long 🤘🏼👸.I’m very surprised you haven’t done anything by Diana Ankudinova a Russian girl now 21 with a very unique voice so I recommend her Wicked Game cover when she was 15 on a Russian talent show which she won twice. She is becoming a worldwide phenomenon with a huge following and will help blow you channel up big time ✌️
I'll cosign the vote for the Wallflower track/video. I love that Tatiana is also going sober lately too 🤩. It's always a joy when people destigmatize the option and opportunity to go sober.
It looks like I'll be subscribing if I'm to see your reactions to my suggestions, so here are two of their many songs I'd like to see you check out, Retrospection and Call Me A Symbol
I get overwhelmed when I try to think of which songs to suggest. This may be scattered but some of my favorites are: "Sit, Stay, Roll Over" - live in Melbourne "Pit of Consciousness" - live in Kiev "Bad Water" live. Tatiana doesn't growl. Big emotional impact. Studio video is creepy. "Retrospection" and "Home Back", studio videos. Alternate views of going back to one's origins. "lainnereP" off of Macro. Mostly instrumental. Jinjer as a 1970s psychedelic prog band (or that's what my demented brain says). Maybe not review, but do listen to it. "Who is Gonna Be the One?", live. There are more, but that's a start.
Old school Jinjer is fun too (five members, Tati with dreadlocks, original strait to the face, energetic sound). Some of the essential older stuff: Sit Stay and Roll Over, Outlander, Scissors and I want it I'll get it.........But it's just a small part of the many tracks that are so gooood....! Such a miracle of a great little band.
Wallflower is a wonderfully composed piece of music. A slow burn from the beginning thru to a hard ending. The video is very thick with subliminal messaging and might not make sense if you don’t know a few things prior to watching the video. 1. Tatiana claims to be an introvert. 2. The red box you will see is her art which represents her lyrics. 3. Read the Indian story about the white wolf and the black wolf prior to watching. (It’s short) Keep all of these things in mind and the video will make more sense. Enjoy.
Great reaction, Ashlena. As others have said, the Drummer on this and around this time, 2016, was Dimitry Kim a friend of the band, he stepped in when their previous Drummer (another Dimitri) had a terrible accident and damaged his back, Vlad eventually joined them, they did the live session of 'Pisces' video (which you've seen) to introduce him to the fans and public at large. If you would like to see another video with this Drummer, I suggest, 'Sit Stay Roll Over' the official music video, this is the song which got 'Napalm Records' (their current record label) interested in them, also check out the live version of, 'Just Another' from around this time, I really love this track, it isn't as popular as some others but I love it, it's off, 'The King of Everything' album.
Good morning Ash! I woke up this morning with one of the riffs from I Speak Astronomy playing in my head. Grabbed my phone and AirPods to go listen, and what should appear but a new Ashlena reaction vid! Right on! Oh, girl, I was subscribed after the first Jinjer reaction! Yeah this one is one of my faves too. Roman is a tiny bit underserved lol. I mean Tati is so fkn amazing that she grabs a lot of attention. Vlad is conspicuously awesome on drums, and Eugene gets a lot of love on bass. Roman doesn't move around quite as much onstage, maybe that's part of it. Also I think his English may not be quite as good as Eugene or Tati. But man that dude can play! His articulation is superb. His picking is world class. That speed chord picking is like, James Hetfield hold my beer! And the way he throws bends in the middle of a riff is sick. Like that first main riff in this song, the one that hooked you. That bend at the beginning of the riff is just SO sick! And the way it switches back and forth between 6/8 time and 7/8. Trademark Jinjer. I can sink my teeth all the way into that. For a guitarist (or a bassist like me) learning a riff like that is what it's all about. It's tricky, it's complicated, it's challenging. It's a blast! It's like a beautiful mental puzzle that rewards you for unlocking it. And I'll tell ya, if you can learn the whole song and play it, you feel like Indiana fucking Jones! It's a mouthful. You really need to check out the Jinjer individual playthrough videos, and this song is a great place to start with Roman. When you concentrate on what he's playing and you can see it and hear it in isolation, it is mind blowing. They don't need guitar solos in their music with insane"rhythm" parts like that! I mean it's so much more than rhythm guitar. It reminds me of Alex Lifeson of Rush, with speed picking of death. Especially the part in the middle where they finally break into a kinda soothing 4/4 and Tatiana sings "Come and join me in my rotation." That part reminds so much of Rush. And when you see Roman's chord choices in the playthrough video the genius is boggling. I too saw Jinjer live just a couple weeks after discovering them. It was one of those "I MUST see this band live as soon as possible," and then "Oh look, they're on tour right now!" They're a lot to take in live. I desperately wanted to see what Eugene was up to, and stood on his side of the stage. But I could not get my eyes off Tatiana, she completely dominates the stage like few front persons. Her presence draws me like steel to a magnet. I always wondered what girls felt like watching a magnetic frontman like a Robert Plant, Jim Morrison or David Coverdale. Now I know. It was the one component missing for me since I stopped lusting after Stevie Nicks 😂. You know you'll never have them, but damn! I'm even happy for Tati that she found the right guy and got married, but there's ten million metalheads out there with broken hearts lol. Anyway, thanks for another great reaction. There's so much to unpack with a song like this, I could fanboy for hours. I wish I could buy you a coffee and sit and geek out with you over it! Keep up the great work and go check out Roman's playthrough of this song! Peace!
@@ashlenamusic and I know you don't really care for music videos but there's a lot of meaning behind this one, it's about Tatiana being an introvert but I don't want to spoil too much the meaning of the song and the video
As well as all the other stuff people have suggested, I recomend 12 Foot Ninja's song Over and Out, featuring Tati. The video is very funny. Also, has anyone suggested Electric Callboy yet? I know you don't like music videos, but their videos are all mini comic mastepieces. Hypa Hypa is the usual starting place.
