This goes completely against the democratic principles of India. Trying to give caste quotas in India to promote equality has resulted in creating yet more fractures based on caste. In fact many people who worked without having benifit of any quotas in India, and through the dint of own hard work went to work in US, are facing the same bogey in a new environment. It has to be fought against with every resource and every level possible. Make sure that GOI starts looking into these Equality labs and takes the fight into their home.

Read in the public domain, that Equality Labs makes money by selling services about Hinduism and Caste to business organizations. The bill by the State Sen Aisha Wahab should be investigated for the source of funding to push this Caste bill.
Every temple in India should be allowed to have a Dalit priest. Then the world will believe that casteism has gone out from Hinduism.

There are temples where only dalits can be priests. There are temples where only women can be priests. Why should EVERY temple have a dalit priest when Dharma here isn't a puritanic abrahamic religion that forces uniformity on all?
There are temples where anybody from any background can be a priest if they have undergone 18 years of ashrama life trained in agamas. There are temples where only people of certain varnas can be priests. A brahmin cannot be a priest in a shudra temple, a shudra cannot be a priest in a vaishya temple and so on. Not every brahmin can become a priest even if they wanted to. The deities are consecrated only to work for certain gotras (guru lineages)/ energies of particular varnas to confer them particular energies suitable for their purpose in life.

only castes mattertoday is in marriages, two ppl of same caste marrying, while all the castes work and cooperate in society. It is also in Sikhism where each caste marries within otherwise hindus and sikhs of all castes work freely. India has reservations in publics, jobs, benefits for those of the lower caste. Modi is not high caste, brahmin, son of street tea seller, and he is on top of the world. Recently, India's Presidents have been of the scheduled castes.
If we support this bill on the condition that they include the muslim castes like shias, sunnis, ahmediyas etc. too, then it will fizzle out. This bill says that no one should be discriminated based on their caste. If no one discriminates, then what is the problem? The problem is, people of the upper caste, when they come to USA, tend to keep the caste supremacy intact and thereby promoting fellow upper caste people and denying promotion to people of lower caste. Wherever in the world - the Indian specifically the Hindu communities that support Sanathan Dharma should stay together irrespective of the situation in that location State country. This is what, we have to learn from the other communities that you see around you. Unless United in these fights for the strength of Hindus dharma - it is not going to be easy to tackle these same dividing forces that get benefitted by the internal difference (not actually a conflict as they assume).
