That’s amazing that she still runs after all these years. Keep her in good shape and keep her running. It’s nice seeing old equipment like that still around

Just had a buddy call me. He is helping his future father in law move their TD9 for the first time in ten years... may need to give you a shout! Beautiful!!

You rule for this video! I just acquired a 1958ish TD9 and I was searching out where to begin starting it since it’s gas and diesel. Thank you!

Really enjoyed this. Would love to see more vids of the TD-9! About to become the owner of one myself.

We’ve got a 1955 IH TD-9 at our farm it’s been sitting for over 23 years never had a muffler on it so water got down into the engine but I’m probably gonna restore it one day.

Boy you have that old girl running like a champ! Runs very smooth on both gasoline or diesel, and didn’t really take much time before you could switch it to diesel! Does she have separate carbs for the gasoline and diesel? And does she still use the spark plugs for running diesel? Keep that old iron running Sir!😊🇨🇦

My smartphone had a brainfart because I had it in the viewfinder, but when I uploaded it to the "tube", it didn't come out like I planned. But if you own any pre WW2 crawlers of any type, let me know and I'll show you how to start them. Just as long as they are not seized up. THX

    I just bought a 1952 TD-9. You have a beautiful machine there!
Question: I was told by the previous owner to add a quart of ATF to the diesel tank every fill up. Do you do this? Or is it just snake-oil?

Yep, good thing, or add 2 cycle oil.

@@randykrochak1185 Thanks - Previous owner told me something about 'missing sulfur', but as I've looked into it more the concern seems to be about the lubricity of the low-sulfur fuels, not the lack of sulfur itself. As I understand, attempts have been made to increase the lubricity of the ultra low sulfur fuels, but additives still may be required. I've also read that simply adding a little biodiesel (like 2%) to the tank will accomplish this.

Yes, bio diesel is good, however,it being organic, if usage is low, parked for a long time, I have seen mould in the fuel filters starting to develop.
      Injoy life!

@@randykrochak1185 Lol yeah I'd never use pure biodiesel, but I'm sure adding just a tiny bit would be okay. Not much is going to live in 98% petrodiesel :-)

Modern fuel doesn’t have the lubricity of the old high sulphur diesel fuels. Not only does the atf (dexron/mercon) provide lubrication for pump and injectors, you get the added benefit of the excellent cleaning power of atf. I would use a cetane booster also.

No but my friend, collects IH crawlers has it and we still use it for fun projects on his ranch.

@@nitrogasm would your friend want to add another to his collection? I just came into possession of one and have no idea how to restore it. It supposedly ran before the previous owner passed away.

How the heck is this possible? Start on gas then switch to diesel smh . Why not just start it on diesel .
