Jeep 5 inch to 8.4 Inch DIY | NO DEALERSHIP | Uconnect Upgrade

- Car model is 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo. Base Model with no back up camera and basic 5 inch Uconnect radio.
I installed a 2015 vp4 8.4 inch Uconnect Radio. I bought it used from ebay from a junkyard/salvage yard seller. I then paid another ebay seller that give you anti theft codes with your radio serial number. I didnt go to the dealership. Did it all at home. Depending on the model you get, you might need to purchase a 911 phone dummy. It tricks the system to thinking you have it even though your car was not already equipped with it.
After you have installed your new upgraded unit and have entered anti theft code you should wait with the car on for about 5-10 mins. After that turn off your car for about 30min to hour. Go take a break. While the car is off the Radio will communicate with the cars computer and do its technical stuff in the back ground. I believe its called proxy pairing.
When purchasing the anti theft code from ebay make sure the seller gives you examples of what Serial number they work with. Not all work with the same Serial number you have. So just be mindful of that. Some will give you examples of what they can work with similar to the one i bought from. Also helps if they high feedback and sales.

You have to take it to a dealer so they can reprogram it. Costs about 30 bucks and everything will work
it will have carplay on it??
where can i order this same fit and how much was it? im doing carbon fiber in my jeep now and they dont make it for the smaller screens only the bigger ones "iv been wanting to upgrade that anyway cause i miss gps on the big screen lol" so def need to purchase the new radio first

If you buy the bigger screen you need a new bezel. I had to buy one as well.

When you use the climate controls below, does the display on the screen show the fan speed and temperature going up and down? Also, I called the jeep dealerships parts department and was told they'll provide the anti theft code if I show the info from eBay, proving the purchase from a salvage company especially the vin #.
Yes everything works correctly. I just paid a guy on eBay because he doesn’t ask for a vin number just the radio serial number and under 24hrs I got a code

I'm a moron when it comes to cars so please excuse my ignorant questions:
1. Do the knobs/buttons come off the old bezel and onto the replacement? I ask because all the bezel's I'm finding on Ebay are shells.
2. Will GPS/Navigation work?
3. Will any camera do as long as it's compatible with the screen?

As long as your car already has a camera you should be fine GPS is integrated to the actual unit so it all works. It’s plug and play more or less. The bezel is different from the 5 inch. So I purchased a used 8inch bezel off eBay. I looked for weeks to find a cheap deal. When you find it it’s also a plug in play thing. There shouldn’t be any switching of knobs at all.

Yes that’s what I did. I believe as long as you have the correct bezel you can put any newer year
What is the “911 phone” you mentioned in the video for? What fuction wont work if i dont have the dummy?
It will remove the 911 prompt that keeps popping up. You can order on eBay or the if you look at the about section below the video I put the website there
Did your navigation work right away? Mine still says its in new york but thats were i bought the car from any idea how i can reset the navigation?
Yeah I think it took a day or two.
I don’t remember how long it took but yes I do remember it taking a few days to be accurate.
Anyone try to install a 2019 and up on a 2017 jeep?
Same exact process but you will need a special cable I believe that infotainment.com sales
It’s plug and play just Make sure you use the one that has same cables like yours jeep dodge same crap charger challenger they all work but u have to also upgrade the media usb hub for apple car play
