I love these new Vinteras and they both sound great. Brilliant playing BTW, really brought out the best in the guitars.

Fender did a great job with these. Got a 60's 3-Tone Sunburst last year. (2021 model). Lovely guitar and as demonstrated by you made for the blues. Great playing as always!

The new series is rly abt the rosewood. Theres almost no point in buying the 50s when the old ones are going to be much cheaper used now for what is basically the same guitar. Unless you want one of the new colours ofc.

That aqua colored one is beautiful. Hopefully they’ll offer the modified with the c neck and 9.5 . Great playing !

Have you tried adjusting the truss rod? I heard it requires neck removal. Thank you for your opinion and great playing!

This is a stunner. LPB, rosewood, although I’ve seen lots with light streaks running through it and I don’t like that at all. The rosewood on Fenders is a bit hit or miss nowadays. I bought an American Special Tele last June and the rosewood is very dark and consistent. But I’ve seen the same model with the awful light streaks. I prefer Teles to Strats and I’ve only 3 Strats to 9 Teles but if I was going to buy a vintage Strat that V2 60s is undeniably hot!

    Hi Rich!
Amazing playing and review, like all of your reviews I have watched! Congratulations and thank you!!
I have a Vintera 60s Modified that you seemed to admire a lot in the review you had done back then.
How do you compare now the 60s Modified with the new ii 60s? I do really want your personal opinion!
Does it worth for me to buy the ii 60s while owing the 60s Modified? If you exclude from the picture the rosewood which definitely is a plus for the ii 60s, what else do you think is better compared to the 60s Modified?
    Many thanks!!

Nice demo as always, Rich. So happy to see the rosewood back on the 60s model; I was not a fan of pau ferro at all. I'm thinking about putting some Custom Shop 69s in it to round the sound out though. I'm not a fan of glossy fingerboards, but that 50s model sounds pretty decent...at least the neck and middle pickups. Although it's got modern specs, the maple HSS Player Plus gets the nod from me over the 50's Vintera II.

  • @compucorder64
    @compucorder64 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks, that was a really useful comparison, and really well done. I went in thinking I liked the 50s, but I actually preferred the 60s. A good part of that might be the maple vs rosewood. The neck pickup had more of that round, woody tone, but still with enough glass broken edges on top for me. Whereas the 50s neck still sounded quite bright. But in the end, I think the real bargain is the older Vintera I models, which can be picked up some 30% cheaper. And it's almost the same guitar, especially the maple 50s, but costs about a a 300 less here in Europe (800 vs 1100+). Leaving money left over for a pro setup, and a hard case or even upgrading the neck pickup, if wanted.

A/B'd the Vintera II 50s strat with an AV II '57 strat and was really surprised by the vintera II. That said, I think i'd prefer a 60s model. Maybe they release it in a color I really like in the future!

You said pretty much the same about the tone and neck feel when you compared the two road worn vintera models a while back. How do these compare to those in your opinion? They are about the same price now as Vintera 2 is pricier. Regular vintera models are cheaper but no rosewood for 60s.

Im a big fan of the JV modified but the strats arent rosewood, and you may not care for some of the mods. These being a couple hundred cheaper. Id get a 60’s for rosewood. Especially if you like 7.25. Not crazy about the pickups but not like the old ceramics from back in the day. . Otherwise if you like the V and 9.5 I would snag a JV for that.

I would buy a Fender guitar for blues/rock between Eric clapton and Jimmy Hendrix. Probably 60's. Great test. Thank you. The thone is better on 60's i think. But, for the rest, it's the player who do the best job. For my first electric guitar. I think 60's vintera 2 is good.

I have had every american model there is. My favourite series are the american originals. If not for those, I'd buy a vintera 2 for sure. I tried some and they're amazing! The main thing why I prefer the American Original isn't even the pick ups or nitro. It's the 9.5 radius. Go for it, especially now it's rosewood boards again

I LIKED the Pau Ferro boards... 😢
This 50s one with the maple does look real purdy tho!
(Edit: the 60s one was just too "dark" for me in both looks & tones)

    Which one would you keep?

Rich, if you look closely at the 60's pickguard, the second screw (from the top horn) is exactly where it should be on a 61 or 62 strat ONLY. (right in the middle between the neck and middle pickups). This new(?) model is absolutely no different from the one it replaced (The Classic 60's). Every detail excepting the reverse wound middle pickup is the same. Both have a ONE PIECE ALDER BODY. As for playability and the 7.25 radius fingerboard well what can I say? Every guitar hero who made history on a Strat had the same board!
Yngvie, Stevie, and Rory all opted for Jumbo frets, which does make it considerably faster playing and negates fret-outs......
I have a 2010 Classic 60's, and after trying the newer Vintera 2's, I prefer the Classic's easier playability.
I have the same hands as you, so I could see the frustration (after we both got spoiled with the wider/flatter boards.)
    Keep up the great work.
    PS.....You're a Tele guy!!! 🤠👍🎸

I get the romantic notion of vintage gear - but I can't help but think that if Hendrix were given the choice between a 60's Strat and a 2023 Am Pro II Strat back in 1960 - he would choose the 2023. Anyways - great playing as always!!
