The fact that the deli owner knew who the cat's owner was and had the option of just working it out with them, but INSTEAD chose to try and sneakily have the cat put in a shelter tells you everything you need to know about him or her as a person.
@@MomeGnome This isn't about the cat being in danger because of the outdoors, so please don't try to move the goal post and act like he was attempting to do something noble. The video specifically states that he expressed concerns that he would get in trouble for the cat being around, which is ridiculous. There's tons of restaurants and cafes that have outdoor seating - and even trucks and carts and booths that serve food outside - and they do not get in trouble for the presence of nature. I so agree! My cats don’t even know what “out” is, and they live long full lives! If you’re afraid they’ll get bored, get a second or third cat to keep them company!
Abuser? The owner of the cat, needs to be responsible. You shouldn’t be allowed to just let your cat wander around the town. Why are there leash laws for dogs and not for cats.
Anyone who drops an animal outside of a shelter after hours in freezing temperatures is an abuser! So she’ll no doubt be all that more cautious & concerned about letting him roam freely. She seems like a incredibly compassionate woman who cares deeply about his wellbeing. Unfortunately, cats can get away from their owners quickly, mine escapes from time to time. That doesn’t mean we’re irresponsible. She was diligent enough to equip him with a tracker - that’s how much she cares about him! 🥰
The real abuse is the ignorance of these people who just let their cat wander around town and then are quick to snatch that victim card. You wouldn't do that with a child. The same consequences should apply as if it WAS a child.
@@kr4536 I totally agree. I raise birds, and always have to worry that the neighborhood cats are going to kill them. They are in an enclosed aviary in my own backyard. Keep your cats in your house, not loose to do whatever they want with no control.

Back in my childhood, my family had two cats that were allowed to roam around outdoors unsupervised. Both ended up disappearing, and we never learned what happened to them. It's just not worth it to let your cat go about outdoors who knows where without you there to supervise them on a leash. Your pet's safety is your priority, and if you repeatedly allow them to do something that leads to their death, that is on you, as harsh as that statement may seem.
My wife is amazing with our cat: She can get him So calmly put on a great walking harness. There is a nice leash on it and we don’t “walk him”-we let him lead us around the yard outback tracking creatures by scent, enjoying time in bushes, wondering the grounds, and having freedom and safety. He enjoys it and we consider it a good compromise. (We check for ticks and such when he comes back inside and he has all shots)
Cats should not be outside unsupervised. This is one of the million reasons why. Shame on the deli owner; he should be charged, but also shame on this woman. Or maybe the deli employees could just stop feeding a cat that never hung out there before they fed him the first time. They knew that owner didn't want the cat around. People can't control themselves and each one always thinks he or she knows best.
In the city there's no way a loved animal can be let out. In the country they can. But almost no one loves in the country anymore. Cities are death zones for cats. Cats live WAY longer than 12 years. But in a city the chance of them not being hit or hunted is almost 0 after 10 years
That is Ballston Spa, which is near Saratoga Springs and Lake George. My cousin drowned in Lake George in 1982 AD. He had an epileptic seizure and it totally devastated our family. But I am so happy that Kane is back and safe.
Outdoor cats are less likely than indoor cats to have a long lifespan because of illnesses, accidents, fights, etc. It is better to keep your cat inside 100% of the time. If someone stole my indoor only cat (if she got outside), I would be livid! Glad Kane is home.
Also, I know of two cats who were let go by their previous owner and left outside. The first cat wound up crawling up into an engine compartment until someone at Jiffy Lube (unbeknownst to the driver) noticed a cat still alive and well, thankfully. Her brother turned up as a stray two month later fending for himself over the wintertime and they are now in our care and YES, they are inside cats only and happy with their cat towers and toys.
I don't care how much your cat likes being out side ! If you love them you have to do what is best for them by keeping them inside because their are so many dangers that they can face.
A cat that lives a normal life (with access to sunlight and fresh air) will eventually find a quiet hidden place to pass away, yes. It’s what they prefer. Of course there are dangers outside too, but permanent captivity is _not_ the answer. It would be like locking a child in a room for its entire life because it’s “safer” in the room. Causing perpetual suffering through captivity and confinement is not “love”
@@Vexarax what about other animals? Should dogs roam? Horses? Hamsters? 😂😂😂 cats die early outside because stuff kills them, but because they die of old age under a bush lol
@@MomeGnome I already replied to your other comment. Dogs aren’t kept locked inside 24/7, you take them for walks so they can experience sunlight and fresh air. Horses likewise have a stable where they sleep, then enjoy freedom and exercise in massive outdoor paddocks during the day (it would literally be considered cruelty to keep a horse in a stable 24/7). Yet for some reason some people think it’s totally acceptable to lock a cat in confinement for its entire life, when cats need exercise and fresh air just as much as other animals who are able to recognise where home is. It would be like keeping a child locked in a room its entire life because that’s “safer” than being outside. It’s literally no different. Growing up, our cats were always allowed to come and go freely, and they lived to between 14-17 years. Those years were happy years not suffered in confinement. Edit; those cute little horsies on your channel are running around in sunlight and fresh air! A cat would be perfectly happy and healthy outdoors in the environment shown on your channel. One would think you’d absolutely advocate for animals to have outdoor lives. Why talk about horses being kept in confinement when you have them playing in the snow on your channel?
Yes, dogs get taken for walks. You can do the same for your cat. Heck, you don't even need to bother with walking if you make a safe space such as a catio and provide actual enrichment. Stop being a hypocrite.
Good to see the cat is back with his family. My little orange female is half feral from her dad, and I tried for a year to keep her inside. She loves being outside, and my neighbors keep an eye on her. She shows gratitude by keeping the area free of mice
It breaks their heart not to be able to go out, but in the long run, it's better for them. I have a little 4 yr old female we've had to make a full time indoor kitty.
Your opinion is defunct and irrelevant. It's your responsibility to keep yourself educated about the danger of letting pets wander outside without supervision.
People need to learn the hard way that their cats should be kept indoor at all times. Never take for granted that everyone is an animal lover. The deli owner could have done worse thing like giving food laced with poison to the cat
Most vets will tell you that an indoor vs. and outdoor, even a sometimes outdoor cat has a life expectancy of about half to the indoor only. They got lucky and I am glad they did.
The owner should make this a reminder that ultimately the responsibility to her cat's wellbeing belongs to herself before blaming other people. You are the only thing you can control and change. I would NEVER EVER even think about letting my cats go outside without me supervising them. It is a scaring thought. if something bad happens as a result I would blame myself. Keep him inside from now on.
The abuser here want the deli owner, it was the cat owner. She put his life in danger, every day. She left him in the cold, his whole life. She opened that door and put him outside.
I always wounder about this innocent baby since the news came out! Iam so happy he's back home. 🙆♀️🐈💛. I would definitely not eat at that deli if I was in the area. No heart no sympathy no respect towards pets and cat owner.
The deli owner should have talked to his employees and told them not to feed him but to drop him off at a random place knowing he is owned is horrible.
People really need to keep cats contained - however that looks > patio cage, high fences, etc. Letting a cat wander outside without supervision is a recipe for a number of disasters. This owner is lucky, as is Kane.
I'm so confused. So, you're telling me that the deli owner has been charged with not getting Kane home as safe as he possibly could have? Did he even know where the cat originally came from?
Deli owner was charged because he just left Kane outside the shelter when it was closed. And it was cold outside. Kane obviously was confused and lost and went missing afterwards. If you surrender a cat to a shelter, please have the Sense to do so when the shelter is open, and bring the cat inside to someone who works there 🙄

No one did that. What are you talking about?
She tossed her cat out the door every day. He didn't go snatch him from her house. She eagerly put him out and put him in danger
Keep him inside from now on. He might not like it and might yowl to go out but he will get over it. He looks like such a sweet boy. Poor baby has been through a lot. God bless you and yours. Stay safe.
If she adds a catio and other elements such as perches, cat trees ..that will help enrich the cat's inner environment and it will help the cat to adapt to its life inside. I hope they stay together safely !! 😺💗
They get over it after a while.
@@annettespradlin4945 I adopted a feral almost a decade ago. I assure you, some of them do *not* get over it. She was still screaming at the door at all hours more than a year on.
My late orange was an indoor outdoor that I was getting him to stay inside more and more. To the point he only got out when he did a jailbreak move. And then he just stayed in and wanted an open window. He was a stray that came to me during a hurricane and claimed my family as his own for 11 years till 2022 when he crossed the rainbow bridge. Kane def will yeowl a lot but he will get glad in the same fur he got mad.
To cat Mom...if the cats feet hit the sidewalk, make sure he's on harness and leash. Or do both of you a huge favor and build a catio, so he can enjoy the best of both worlds, and you won't have to worry where he is.
Agree catio is the way to go, our six love it! 😸😻😼😽😻😸
You can get big patio size bird cages on wheels that are perfect size outdoor cats. That way he can follow the sun or stay out of the rain safely outdoors.
A catio is a great idea to fulfill both cat's curiosity and safety issues .
I turned the back deck into a Catio for my 8. They have a flap and a sturdy roof and go outside all year round.
It cost me some money, and I used Facebook Marketplace to find cheap supplies, but to keep them safe and happy, it was worth it!
But even if you're in an apartment. There are boxes that you can put in your window frames like an air conditioner sits and a kitty or two can go out in that. There are ways of keeping them safe. They are smart but not THAT smart. It's our responsibility to look out for them. ❤
Cool idea.
The fact that the deli owner knew who the cat's owner was and had the option of just working it out with them, but INSTEAD chose to try and sneakily have the cat put in a shelter tells you everything you need to know about him or her as a person.
He tried, but she wouldn't keep her cat in the house. She didn't care that he was in danger. At all
@@MomeGnome This isn't about the cat being in danger because of the outdoors, so please don't try to move the goal post and act like he was attempting to do something noble. The video specifically states that he expressed concerns that he would get in trouble for the cat being around, which is ridiculous. There's tons of restaurants and cafes that have outdoor seating - and even trucks and carts and booths that serve food outside - and they do not get in trouble for the presence of nature. Unless employees were letting the cat come into the food prep area (which there's no evidence of) his reasoning is absurd, which is probably why the authorities sided with the cat owner and not the deli owner.
@@SecretSurname I didn't move anything and he was right for worrying. You cannot have animals in where food is sold and prepared. The car was probably running in the store, and being a nuisance. He asked the owner to control her cat but she refused. It was more important to her that her cat roam than to keep him safe. He should have taken the cat to the shelter when it was open, but they might not have taken the cat. He didn't harm the cat in any way, tho. Why is the cat safe in the middle of saratoga, but not some place else? 😂 he's not safe outside, period. Yall are ridiculous

@MomeGnome that’s easy.
The Saratoga County Animal Shelter has cameras all over the property.🙄

One of my cats was indoors/outdoors. He's only indoors now. He disappeared 2 times. Didn't want there to be a third. Took him a couple of months to get used to the fact that I wasn't ever going to let him out anymore. He would scream and protest 😂 but now he's a little couch potato. 2nd time I was so worried, he was "only" gone a little over 24 hours but came back in shock, he slept for another 24 hours almost. I thought never again. Keep your babies indoors! ❤ not worth the pain of losing them..
I so agree! My cats don’t even know what “out” is, and they live long full lives! If you’re afraid they’ll get bored, get a second or third cat to keep them company!
Send this abuser to prison

Build him a catio.
That's the Deli's owner's business dead in the water!
My wife is amazing with our cat: She can get him
So calmly put on a great walking harness.
*Deli owner fears cat will deter rats*...what a tool.
Cats should not be outside unsupervised. This is one of the million reasons why. Shame on the deli owner; he should be charged, but also shame on this woman. She *knew* this was an issue, and she did nothing. Her cat is the victim here of horrible, incredibly stupid, and unbelievably selfish humans on all sides.
It’s irritating that there are ppl who will steal your fur babies 😢
Thank goodness she is keeping him inside now! Lesson learned.

National Dogfighter Registry. Share, please!
Or maybe the deli employees could just stop feeding a cat that never hung out there before they fed him the first time. They knew that owner didn't want the cat around. People can't control themselves and each one always thinks he or she knows best.
Or maybe, not everyone lives in the same place and can have their pets outside safely
Please, please keep this little man inside. He’s a real beauty.
Yeah!!!! Glad he made it back home!
Outdoor cats are less likely than indoor cats to have a long lifespan because of illnesses, accidents, fights, etc. It is better to keep your cat inside 100% of the time. If someone stole my indoor only cat (if she got outside), I would be livid! Glad Kane is home.
So sweet. Give him a hug for me. 😊
👏👏👏
If your going to let your cat outside be ready for the fact that they will eventually just disappear and you will have no idea what happened.

Cats should not run loose, but glad she has her pet. Lucky.
Most vets will tell you that an indoor vs. and outdoor, even a sometimes outdoor cat has a life expectancy of about half to the indoor only. They got lucky and I am glad they did.
Keep your cats inside!!!!
