      In 1981, my 1st wife and I visited Kenya primarily to witness a total solar eclipse there from the southern part. Of course, while visiting there, we visited several of thier fabulous game preserves. An older couple, who noticed my 1st wife's ineptitude, took us under their wing and and we later became great friends. We broke from the group, hired a taxi to take us out to the Great Rift Valley, and so, I have seen this natural geological phenomena first hand....Plate Tectonics in action. BHE

      Yes. It seems like the modern science motive is that the world and universe remain stagnant in the way it behaves. How many times in science class as kids were we told that our earth is always changing? We have forgotten that

      Yes we do live on a living planet, that's the way God created it, he gave us this planet to live on, & over the years it's being destroyed by US, one day it will come to an end, jesus is alive, he's not a dead God, put your trust in him, he is the way, the truth & the life, he is the resurrection & the life, give your life to him, while you still can, today is the day of salvation.

    Before it actually splits completely apart, it looks like it has the potential to start filling up with water and become another river like the Nile.

    • @jameshorn270
      @jameshorn270 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Try the rift valley will become a sea. Also, the rift actually continues beyond the Red Sea to the Jordan Valley in Israel and the West Bank Most of the Jordan Valley is below Sea Level, Only a ridge in Southern Israel south of the Dead Sea stands between the Red and Dead Seas, A break in this ridge would result in the filling of the area in months.

      Until the split is complete, it will probably look something like the Gulf of California in Mexico. The real question is whether there will be a gradual extension of the sea from one end or another, or whether the sea will be kept out by land at either and as the rift valley widens and deepens, until a crack allows the sea water to flood in as it did in the Bosporus and Gibraltar, probably several times.

    The same thing is going to happen to California in the USA as it splits off into the pacific ocean. Something Howard Hues figured out years ago when he said buy up parts of western Nevada and you can have an ocean front view in a few millenna.

    • @MickAlderson
      @MickAlderson 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Interesting, given that California was created by a series of island chains slamming into the North American plate. The resulting jumble means that California wouldn't fall into the Pacific in one piece, but would be more like a gravel pile subsiding into a puddle.
      Africa is one solid chunk of rock splitting apart. California is a rock pile bouncing off a big boulder.

    @alanwilson175 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    Sorry about the video, but it confuses geological time scales with human political time scales. At a rate of 7 mm/year, after a thousand years, the rift will grow 7 meters. It would take a million years to widen to 7 km, and a billion years to widen to 7000 km, assuming the same rate of 7 mm/year. For there to be an ocean in the rift would take a width of around 7000 km, and a billion years. Will any political country in Africa still exist in a thousand years, or a million, or a billion? Probably not.

    • @gatorbait9385
      @gatorbait9385 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It could change drastically. India's land apparently moved at speeds up to 15CM per year at times before colliding with Asia. It will likely only continue the 7mm average for thousands of years or even slow down, though, so no political structure around today will ever see the rift even fill with water.

With, at the most 10,000 years of records of mankind's influence i'd say that the whole story is moot considering how we'll probably blow up the world before we learn to get along with each other! and then the world can crack all it wants!

    Everything has a tipping point. It happened about 2500 years ago when there was the great deluge. Earths inclined axis was not like that it was 90 degrees so weather fine springtime all year round. Then when the tipping point came the earth tilted causing continental drift and ocean division. Now is the revers journey. Get prepared.

    In the beginning there was one huge land mass. Then plates shifting and moving certain land masses then continents were formed. Before time ends these continents will all mend back together. So for all of us who don’t like ships or planes. U can drive to Europe and Africa Asia

    This is a review of information that has been known since at least the 60s and 70s. However this speculation about ports and new shipping routes is a bit premature. We are talking about at least hundreds of thousands and maybe millions of years.
    There is also an area of the US roughly parallel to the Mississippi which is considered a failed rift valley.

    The notion of plate tectonics leaves me perplexed. For example, how could the Indian and Eurasian plates collide forcing the Himalayas up from the bottom of the mythological Sea of Tethys given the constraint imposed by friction? Bill Crofut

    Well, modern humans are about 300,000 years, and our early ancestor may be 6 million old, so this rift is con-consequential to us as it will take several million years to create a separate continent. Human will destroy themself long before.

      Kenya is my country; we have been experiencing this earth splitting for a few years now. This has been happening a drive away of 1hr 20mins from Nairobi city. This splitting should have happened as soon as last year to help us remove Ruto from power since he will be in another continent together with his corrupt tribesmen....
