    Is it possible to model for example leaves and twigs and have it render out as a mask and use it in for procedural nodes? And if possible be able to edit the mask within the nodes like maybe adding a gradient or tiling it, so on?
    Nice upload! looking forward to more! :)

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you could do that, although then technically it wouldn't be considered a Procedural texture, because your adding other elements other then just Blenders nodes.

    @7:20, this is where I crash, every single time, I dunno if there is a flaw in my version of Blender or what, (v3.3) but I guess I'll have to make do with bumpless marble.

    Great video! Thanks for walking me through this. When I tried out the 'marble dark' texture my computer suddenly started rendering very slowly. It had no problem with the first effect. What is it about the 'dark marble' that is harder to render?

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! Well, the Dark Swirl marble is the most complex, and it has the most procedural nodes, so I think that's why its slower.

    Love your channel, don't stop what you're doing man.
    Also, two things:
    Why plug the noise texture into the mapping and then to another noise, instead of noise>noise?
    And, my viewport lags a lot after adding the bump node. (dark marble)
    Could be a Blender 3.0 bug, anybody else experiencing the same?

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      I have no idea what I used the mapping. It doesn't change anything. You can just delete the mapping nodes. I made this tutorial almost a year ago, and since then, I have gotten a lot better at making Procedural Materials. Lol.
      You said your viewport lags? Are you using Blender Eevee? I find that Eevee lags a bit when using Procedural materials. So I prefer to use Cycles.

  • @LFSPharaoh
    @LFSPharaoh ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love these material videos. 95% of my blendering so far has been just modeling so I'm clueless on adding color/image/texture/LIFE to my objects so I'll be watching tons of your videos like this. Question though, is there a good way to save these procedural materials or is it normal to just make a cube or something with that material on it, and just save the blender file? I've been searching all over almost zero luck. Once, I saw someone mention the materials library plugin, that could work I suppose but ehh seems kinda buried and easily forgotten about doing it that way (almost seems as out-of-the-way as saving a 'dummy' blender file with the proc mat in it).

    • @RyanKingArt

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Procedural materials don't work in other software. They only work in Blender. So if you want to use this material in other programs, you will need to bake it to texture maps.

    • @intheory0
      @intheory0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RyanKingArt thanks for your time. I probably didn't make it clear, sorry. I exported the obj from zbrush and imported it in Blender.
