    That was a brilliant video Stephen. I knew you would deliver the best coverage of the future of Tramtown. How lovely of Paul to acknowledge that it was your viewers who helped to raise the money so quickly. A huge well done to you for highlighting the plight of Balloon 710 Stephen. Due to your video and your fantastic viewers this famous tram has been saved and will be restored xx

    Absolutely wonderful a new modern attraction to help restore old attractions and as the main man said it’s largely been made possible by a walk on the wide side 🏅

    Great to see this video! A memory I have of the trams, was from when I was a youngster. It was around the mid 1970s, and me, my mother and gran were on a tram. The drivers cab slowly started filling with smoke, and eventually we all had to get off when they got the doors open. I've never forgotten that!

    Saw you on Adventure me video last night 😀so surprised to find that the National Tram Museum isn't in Blackpool, a town totally associated with trams!

    • @dancedecker
      @dancedecker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is easily explained.
      The National Tramway Museum (TMS) was formed originally in the late 1950's and so they were basically the first, so they got first call on being able to call themselves that.
      Tramtown has only really formed in the last couple of years, so first dibs, got priority.
      Plus to be fair, The TMS have a far more varied and eclectic collection, showing the full evolution of the tram, as well as showing examples of trams from many towns and cities and even other countries as well.
      I would love Tramtown to be able to take the "National " banner, but it is unlikely that that will be able to happen as Tramtown obviously only really represents one towns tramway evolution, unique and excellent though it is.

    • @tomgirldouble3249

    • @AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool
      @AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don’t steer! At least not as far as I know. They just follow the tracks, or where points will divert them.

    • @dancedecker
      @dancedecker ปีที่แล้ว

      Trams, just like trains, don't need to steer.
      A point moves a track if a tram needs to go down a different route. So that is how they turn at Bispham or Pleasure Beach.
      Hope this helps.

      Because an organisation was set up to save some of the spare trams, with at the time, the intention of running a small fleet of heritage trans round the docks, linking the attractions that were already there, or would be created.
      Then the docks plan changed and so the project was shelved, but the trams we're left, probably hoping for another change to occur, but it never did.
      But most are being saved, like 710 "The Alan Bradley Tram".
      Hopefully, they will all eventually get safe futures, but nothing is definite.

    Excellent video as always Stephen. But just a couple of small corrections.
    Binns used to be where R.H.O. Hills was on Bank Hey Street, opposite the Tower building.
    Admittedly very near to the Hounds Hill Centre, but was never part of it.
    The tram you saw had "Binns" written on it, as Beamish bought that Blackpool Balloon tram to represent three very similar trams that Sunderland Corporation bought at the same time as Blackpool's were delivered and so when a spare tram became available after the Blackpool tramway upgrade in 2010, Beamish bought it to very easily "fill a gap" in their museum's tram fleet.
    When it was no longer needed, it was donated back to Blackpool Tramtown and is still in it's Sunderland livery.
    Every single Sunderland bus or tram had "Shop at Binns" on it. No exceptions.
    Hence what you saw.
    Hope this helps.
    And the illuminated train tramcar, is called either The Western Train, or "Santa Fe".
    Great Western was a railway company that served London and the South West of England.
    I think that the word "Western" in both titles has confused the issue a bit, hence the overlap error.
    But otherwise, excellent as always.
