Man the way I have my mmmm and ahhh moments with yall. I LOVE THESE!! Lot's story was wild but its amazing how much being related to Abraham saved Lot repeatedly. Lot got caught all the way up.
I've just realised something in Genesis 18 and did a little research (please add or correct me in what I have found). As I was meditating on the bible study, I wondered why Jesus came to Abraham. God is very intentional, and I couldn't remember what He was doing there. Genesis 18:1-3 says, " The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, "If I have found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass your servant by." I found interesting that basically Abraham recognized Him. The word appeared is "raah" in hebrew. It means to see, look at, inspect. It is used in physical sight, spiritual sight, and more. Abraham passed so much time with God that he recognized Him even from a distance, without God saying a single word. Just like we can recognise God' work and desires when WE also pass a lot of time with Him. Abraham didn't even ask Him, "Are you the Lord?". He immediately bowed down with humility and humbleness. Also, Abraham ran to meet God, which I consider is like when we pursue Him. He could have just seen Jesus and stayed comfortable sitting down, avoiding the heat. But no, he RAN to meet God. As a matter of fact, he didn't run to God to ask for something. He instead gave HIM something (bread and to wash His feet). The more time we pass with God, the easier it is to see Him and hear Him. Bless all of you and happy new year :)
I wanna add something else. In Genesis 18:33 says, "When the LORD had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home." Isn't it interesting how it didn't say "when Abraham finished speaking to God he left". I am very guilty of that. Just like Josh and Isi said, imagine someone talks to you, vents to you and leaves right after.
This is so good👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 especially because I wondered about this part when I read it last year! Great to know that it’s because Abraham spent time with the Lord that he was able to spot him straight up 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾 word word word! And also yes to your second revelation 😮💨😮💨😮💨 I be leaving God before he’s done talking 🤕😪
I’ve been watching the show The Chosen- so I can’t wait until we get to the case study of Jesus and his disciples. I love this content- thank you guys🥰🥰
I truly look forward to these biblical case studies. It’s been helping me see different details that I have not noticed and it has been encouraging me to read my bible intently. I am so appreciative of the biblical content, please don’t stop!!
this is the safest I've ever felt while in a bible study. you asked questions, laughed about certain things and so much more. This is amazing. You guy's are amazing
I really enjoyed this episode! I’m currently reading the bible in chronological order, and glory be to God this has fallen into place with my reading (ch 15,16&17 on the 5th) and chapters 18,19,20 are today the 6th these Biblical cases are really helpful by helping me see the scripture in different ways! Thank you, Josh & Isi and may God continue to bless you❤
1:36:04 If I'm being honest, this part sticks with me. As I followed along before we even got to the part where she looked back, I was thinking about how I would want to turn around out of curiosity too. Hearing you break this down makes me think so differently about how even the littlest action can have a big impact on our salvation.
I'm glad you guys paused in Chapter 18 because I think we really see how much of a friend in God Abraham has. After God told Abraham HIS PLANS, Abraham himself said if he be so bold to intercede for Sodom and God actually allowed him to speak. He listened. I feel like it was such a friend conversation too even though Abraham was reverent; the way that he was telling God that's not like you to be behave that way, in the way we would speak to our friends acting out of character if they came to reason with us.
I completely agree. This shows that even the ALMIGHTY takes out the time to not only LISTEN but have EFFECTIVE communication. The fact that Abraham even felt comfortable talking to God in that manner is such a statement.
I also think that apart of the reason Lot’s daughters like Isi said had that familiar spirit of perversion on them that was from their lineage (sodom). Not only that but we also know that Lot offered them up to be “known” in a way that they didn’t want to be if you catch my drift. Just imagine the resentment that grew within them that their dad offered them up on a platter and then also we don’t know what those men did to them entirely. It’s just how the saying goes hurt people, hurt people and most predators are people who have been preyed on before. So just from those things could be a few reasons why they did what they did to Lot( none of them being right obviously).
Isi and Josh going deep into the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was so good. I felt that revelation of what happened with Lot and his wife and daughters, wow. With the understanding that the Most High wanted to destroy the wickedness of those places, but had mercy on Lot for Abraham but it's like Lot knew after his wife looked back and was turned into salt that she was corrupted by place she came from and things she had seen. Think about all the generational curses that plague our families 😢. It's so deep that even Lot may have intentionally wanted to remove his line by going away in hiding the mountains the way he did. Now that could've been a spirit on them still or the wicked one who had already corrupted his daughters just from being raised in that place that wanted to continue his line and continue that wickedness, that just blew my mind y'all. I'm gonna study more of the offspring of Lot now cuz this part has always bothered me but that verse Josh read and what you said helps put this more in perspective.
Lot´s story is also an example of how you will receive the same lesson again and again until you learn your lesson, or until everything is taken from you.
Notice how Abraham called on the name of the Lord. Suggesting the Lord has a name, and we just call Him Lord, but what is His name. We call Him the Lord our God. Which just means He is Lord and He is our God but what is His name what did Abraham call out?
Think about this though, maybe Lot was pulled in by lust. In 13 there was no mention of Lot having a wife but he was already close to the city. Then chapter 14, he’s married with daughters, time has passed, Lot’s wife is the only one who looked back. Perhaps reflecting on what Isi said earlier in the video, she may have lived in the land of Sodom & Gomorrah her entire life so when the angels came and said they had to leave, it was hard for her to turn her back on her home and let go of the past. Her carnal desire to stay and not let go brought her to her demise.
For some reason, when I read about Abraham and God asking him to move out his father’s country and leave his relatives behind I wondered why he brought Lot along. I don’t think he was supposed to according to God’s direction. So their separation made all the more sense.
Abraham was into intercession for Sodom and their wickedness. My takeaway was that in pray with God we are supposed to intercede for our brothers and sisters in Christ and out of Christ! Similar to what Mose did with the people of Israel❤
did anyone realize that Lot wasn’t even supposed to go with Abraham ?! Abraham was supposed to leave his relatives in his home country but due to him disobeying Gods command and taking Lot there was so much stuff that happened to Lot. i mean him being separated from Abraham, taken captive, losing his wife, and being driven out of the village into the mountains.
Please continue breaking down the Bible, it really helps me understand and take different perspectives into account.

Negeb is the English language translation (Negev) of the Hebrew Bible. So there is no discrepancy.
