Proves the power of the GB, that despite this looking vastly more interesting, and pretty unarguably better looking than the numerous GB Mega Man games, they are still better.
It's funny that this game never won a Master System version in Europe or Brazil, in these places the Master System survived for years by gaining ports of Game Gear games (even some horrible games like Sonic Blast) and the Master System version always had a bigger advantage because of the screen resolution. It would be interesting if that happened because then the Master System would have a MegaMan game like the NES.
Yeah, I am not sure what it is, but he kinda looks "high" in this game, or something. In the original version, he had more of a smug "oh come on, you can't beat me ffs" look.
This is an excellent Mega Man game on one of the last systems you'd expect to find it on. Just like the Game Boy games, it impresses with just how well it approximates the gameplay of the NES originals.
NintendoComplete x Actually, this game doesn’t really do much to differentiate itself from the NES games, which somewhat disappoints because the Game Boy games, despite the recycling of Robot Masters, were almost entirely original and had features to reappear in later games such as the shop in IV or the Mega Man Killers and stage gimmicks

Gameplay seems mostly solid. Bosses seem to have gotten an unfair speed boost, though, and the soundtrack has several odd choices for events (no victory jingle, Gravityman's music on Waveman's stage, parts of Cossack's fortress music as the boss selected and weapon get screens, etc).
I find it strange that Wave Man uses Gravity Man's theme... despite Wave Man's theme already being in the game. You can hear it during the game over screen, or at least the first five seconds of it...
Isn't that "Gravity Man's" theme playing in "Wave Man's" stage?? This looks quite like an interesting port, however the screen crunch and vertical scrolling must make for many cheap deaths and bold leaps of faith, right?? Also, quite interesting that the dev. team decided to use "Quick Man's" stage for Wily's Fortress, but from the looks of it, at least the beam traps don't kill you upon contact... ...
RockmanSam Yeah, until you know the levels there are a fair amount of cheap deaths because it's so zoomed in. The beams in Wily's take a big chunk, but thankfully they aren't one hit kills anymore.
You can tell this was made by British fans out of passion for the NES games and it’s impressive with the amount of stuff they had to make for a Mega Man game outside of Japan is impressive.
I found an article that ranked every mega man franchise title ever. I was excited until I saw the number 1 spot. I'm not mad that this game is somehow better than all the other games like classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, and Star Force. It's that this game takes the top spot and the article just stops. It didn't mention why this game is number one. They mentioned why other games deserved their spots on the list, but fell silent on this one. This game is serviceable at best. If you want a Mega Man game on Game Gear, it does its job, but you won't get much more than that. This game has no plot. Maybe that's why it took the number one spot. No plot, just robot masters, Wily, the end and with nothing in-between. Short and sweet. That article was such a troll.
I'm sure you've been asked this before, but do you have your emulator settings anywhere for how you get these to look so much like the original hardware? I would love to set mine up like this.
Great video love mega man & dis nice few weeks I played it on Master system through Master Everdrive cart loaded with game plus patch and it's was fun really good only thing is jus minor little glitches but still awesome love it
USGold are known for their terrible home computer ports like Street Fighter 2 on Amiga/ST and are hated in general. But this is a pleasant exception by them
Yeah, I remember thinking the same. After their Dos version of SF2 and the Amiga Final Fight, I was scared at what this would be, but this is a big step above their typical game. Hi Tech Expressions' Dos Mega Man game is much closer to what I had expected from US Gold.
Easier than its NES counterparts? Hard disagree there. Its difficulty is insane compared to the NES or even the Game Boy games. No continues, screen crunch, only two shots on screen.
What in the unexpected bastardization of a beloved series is this? A mix and match of bizarre moments of Mega Man games just compiled with shitier music.
Wow star man then bright man? And mm4 nes boss theme? Ok????? Cossacks theme if you have the special weapon? Hmmmmmmmmm normally if toad man was arround you have to defeat him first hahaha but..... ok hahahahaha now heeeh? Napalm man?
Would be cool to see some more Game Gear platformers on your channel. There are some pretty good Japan exclusives, like that Kishin Doujin Zenki game. As to this game, it's not too bad. Only the sound could be better I guess, but it's still fine for what it is IMO!
Marius Amber Yeah, I've been meaning to. I've done a few (as well as Master System games that were only released for GG in the US) if you want to check out my Handhelds and Master System playlists. Any good ones in English that you'd recommend?
This will be a long post, haha. So, in no particular order (for GG): Coca-Cola Kid (there's a fan translation), Tails Adventure (yeah, that's how it's spelled!), Sylvan Tale (again, there's a fan translation available - a pretty fun action RPG), maybe Chakan: The Forever Man (it differs somewhat from the other versions); now on to SMS: Alex Kid in Shinobi World (an easy-but-fun platformer), all Asterix games (hugely popular in Europe, as you surely know), maybe Captain Silver (just don't play the US version, it's REALLY butchered compared to the others), Danan: The Jungle Fighter (has some interesting themes, and isn't very long), Golden Axe Warrior (a Zelda knock-off, but a pretty well-made one), Golvellius (same as GAW!), Kenseiden (a well-regarded samurai platformer), all the Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck games, maybe Spellcaster/Kujakuu Ou and last, but not least - Wonder Boy III (probably my favourite game for the SMS, bar none)! As to the ones in Japanese, the only one I can think of right now for GG is that Kishin Doujin Zenki game for the Game Gear. GG and SMS didn't have that many Japanese exclusives of note, after all. I guess you very likely know some of the games I mentioned, since this is probably the top-of-the-tier selection!

MISSION PERFECT! XD I didn't know there was a Mega Man game on Game Gear! It actually looks nice, considering. Music isn't as good as NES of course but otherwise pretty faithful to the NES classics. I'm impressed! ...But needless to say, this port is pretty much obsolete if you already own the original NES classics unless you're some kind of obsessive game collector like...someone I know. XD
Dorian Scott I gotta ask, if you've only played 2, how can you judge the other 4? There's a lot more to games than just the impression you get as you watch someone else play.
Oh, hello once again, cute little bunny girl with a big mallet! XD I think I recognize this character actually, she's from Keio Flying Squadron or something like that, right? I briefly played one of those, I think it was on Sega CD or Saturn if I'm not mistaken, it was kinda neat.
i appreciate that the devs just decided to pick their favorite level from mega man 2 to throw in this game as a wily stage. well done.
Tbh, even though this ain't the best version of mega man, the sprites and shading in this game is absolutely gorgeous!
Louis Keiflin I need a megaman in my life /^\ haha yes I do really love that idea especially each champion have one that's really fun

It has Quick Man's stage but not Quick Man himself...
Bright Man's mugshot looks a little creepy.

NintendoComplete, never played this one, but I saw it's basically MM4&5...on Sega's 8-bit handheld, right?
Dorian Scott It's a mashup of the two, similar to how I-IV did things on the GB
NintendoComplete x

This game is pure garbage. Its on the level of the DOS games and a complete disgrace.
@@panthekirb7561 Hahaha have you seen the 1990 Mega Man Dos game? This is godly by comparison :)
A very weird and obscure entry in the classic franchise. Pretty good though!
Dr. Cossack level 2 as the ending??? Ok now i really want to play this haha
Game Gear exclusive. Sega does what Nintendon't!
It looks amazing for a Game Gear game, expected from Capcom.
Capcom didn’t make the game. U.S. Gold made it

The level design for atleast Napalm Man seems to be near intact so i just played that one by memory
It's not exactly a port, more like a Frankenstein mashup of Mega Man 4, 5, and 2
This surprisingly doesn't look like ass, but the sound is pretty poor. Not ear rape levels of poor like MM2 on the GB, but still, not good.
The SN76489 was the weakest sound chip of its generation, though it could've sounded a bit better than this.
This shit does look ass though lol
That logo at 0:12 is hilariously out of place for a Mega Man game
Why is the final level Quick Man's stage?
This game is wack
At least it's better than Mega Man 2 on gameboy.
Extremewrecker2000 The willer. HELL OF A LOT BETTER!

Mega Man The Wily Wars (remake of NES Trilogy) and 2 RM & Dr. Cossack's Map in MM4 and 4 RM and MM5 Wily Castle in MM5 on Sega System.

First MM game I played. And no, it was not on the game gear. It was on a bootleg console. Totally worth the buy.
Apparently this is Mega Man 5 with 3/4 of the screen real estate cut away (but more colors). Should make for some dangerous jumps and such.
Loos & play’s nice,am suprised about this portible version,
Sounds like another sega game “Decap attack” when you get a weapon
Brilliant
This game is actually creepy like the other ones
