As long as you're not doing something stupid (like climbing up onto the guardrails) or leaving the lift while in the air, you shouldn't need fall arrest on a scissor lift. The rails are high enough to prevent you from falling out and there's no articulation (as there is in boom lifts) that could potentially tip you out. Speaking as someone who hits their head about 80% of the time I'm using a lift of any kind, a helmet wouldn't be a bad idea though. Also, OSHA has no jurisdiction over Canada (no idea what equivalent they have in the frozen north).
No safety glasses in an active construction site, shorts on a job site, someone is using a ladder and no 3 points of contact, doing a task not trained to do. This video is great for safety people. (Also for everyone saying OSHA is not in Canada, BC has the equivalent called OH&S. It's more strict than OSHA).
I just FF'd from league, cuz my wifi decided to drop down to the 8th circle of hell and gave me twenty seven THOUSAND PING, just as i decided to go into a team fight. I love Eastern Europe
This video was extremely useful. After 4 years of using Unifi in my house and hooking up friends and family's homes with it, I'm tacking a much bigger project of revamping my church's network, Wifi, cameras and door access. And while it will pale in comparison to the scope of this LTT project, a lot of those pieces will still end up in my design. And there are little reminders to use G5 Domes in places they could be tampered with, versus G5 Turrets that can absolutely be more easily screwed with if they aren't high up. Can I do everything myself? No, I will need some professional help on wiring (especially outdoors) and camera mounting. But door access installation is probably best left to someone who does this for a living. But everything else I can do and manage.
9:05 Linus, if you have not already, please consider having LMG purchase a fiber optic fusion splicer. I use a Fujikura FSM-80S at work and they are a Godsend compared to fast connects (mechanical splicing). A fusion splicer will also make it much easier to work with fiber in the long term and have an infinitely higher success rate on the splice. Fast connects are to be used in emergencies with a followup plan to replace the fast connect with a fusion splice. 17:18 I went on a scissor lift, and up to its maximum extension to terminate a cat6 cable, for the first time last year and also chose to work on my knees. The platform felt too wobbly when standing but more stable on my knees.
That unstoppable WAN Show setup would be cool! In my opinion, there's no need to hook up the studio lights to backup power. Just the computer, audio equipment, camera, background colored lights, and network equipment. The studio lights turning off during a power outage (with the rest working just fine) would look even cooler and funnier.
I got basic training in regular fiber splicing at work and I feel like the proper way to do it is faster than those "Fast connect" thingys, especially if they have a high failure rate
It's just not the right caliber of gear for a space like that. Ruckus, Cambium, Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, EnGenius, Mellanox etc are much more common to see in commercial installs.
They’re just talking about all these experimental features that they’re planning to run in a business, I prefer much more boring business networks Meraki, arista, Aruba, juniper, Palo Alto Just equipment you can set up and expect to just work without intervention.
They really should have hired a contractor to setup the networking and plan it out. Their unifi stuff is okay for homes or the office but if you are doing a large commercial area you need to get people that are really dedicated in that field to give you the best setup you can get. They would be knowledgeable of any potential problems and prevent them from the start, whereas I can see Linus and team encountering issues and making further videos of well this problem happened with our network.
The access control is a super cool concept. I’m not sure exactly what amenities or programs you’ll have in the building, but the potential is endless. Say I’m playing badminton and decide I want to go play in the VR room. I just hop on the app, purchase access for $12 a month, and it updates my key in real time. Only downside is you’ll always have the biggest challenge in security, people. Not sure how you’re going to prevent someone from just standing by the door until someone leaves and letting themselves in.

17:51 Linus casually forgetting to attach the strain relief before crimping. Haha.
I used to cry in the comments about how bad my internet was on videos like these. But now my internet is quite decent and I’m happily watching in 4K 😍😍😍
As someone who has manage the install of hundred of racks, thousands of wifi/network pieces, thousands of cameras and obsessed with all things pc gaming.. i envy the guys doing the work getting this up and running. Bad a$$ guys.
24:15 lol, the way he peeks through the door
No helmet, no fall arrest on the scissor lift, OH&S going to be big mad 🤣
As long as you're not doing something stupid (like climbing up onto the guardrails) or leaving the lift while in the air, you shouldn't need fall arrest on a scissor lift. The rails are high enough to prevent you from falling out and there's no articulation (as there is in boom lifts) that could potentially tip you out. Speaking as someone who hits their head about 80% of the time I'm using a lift of any kind, a helmet wouldn't be a bad idea though.
Also, OSHA has no jurisdiction over Canada (no idea what equivalent they have in the frozen north).
@@johnkohniii2894also OSHA does not require to be tied off in a scissor lift either
Oh man.. I could really use a new router now..
The title is not wrong tho😂
Linus every minute:
I’m bored! Let’s flex on my wifi again.
Safety vests on a Construction Site, solid move really shows LTT love for employee safety, Hard Hats............
And in the scissor lift, there should have been a safety harness and an arresting cord to keep him from hitting the floor.
I wonder if they had steel toes shoes. Seeing Jake tilt the rack with its feet underneath made me quite uncomfortable...
@@f22217 Linus can be seen wearing steel cap boots. They have yellow caps. EDIT: 00:48
13:43 "PDU, which is just fancy term for *big-ass power bar*" 😂
Linus with gigabits of speed:My internet is so slow
I just FF'd from league, cuz my wifi decided to drop down to the 8th circle of hell and gave me twenty seven THOUSAND PING, just as i decided to go into a team fight. I love Eastern Europe
back when league was new, i had satalite internet and would play with 3k ping regularly lol, rough times
Your wifi is trying to save you from the brainrot in league, I wish mine did.
Thats nothing i avarage at 180 to 300 ping daily and sometimes it dips into the thousands and my highest is 187k. And i tell it was not fun
Dota 2 got under 50 pings even on 4g. Just saying...
27 second ping is crazy
4:08 Therapist: Low Res Linus doesn’t exist, he can’t hurt you!
Low Res Linus:
Title for me is like, yeah no shit I am someone with no money living in the middle of nowhere and this video only plays in 240p...
26:16 dual camera transition looked like a freaking movie
My wifi brings all the boys to the yard...
NOOOOOO you beat me to it 😂😂😂
Danm right, its faster than yours, I could teach you, but everyone coming needs to be registered so could you please fill out this form...
Enough about Wi-Fi, what badminton court mats are you fitting in? 😉😂
'my wifi is better than yours' - a millionaire
'well yeah obviously' - me looking at my bank account with about £9 in it
It be like that sometimes but hopefully better financially stable days come again soon.
I'm a sysadmin and really impressed with how smart Jake is. What is his actual role? Dude is great with tech.
When I saw the notification I thought it said "my wife is better than yours" 💀
Blue Avus M5 casually sits there 0:02
I got basic training in regular fiber splicing at work and I feel like the proper way to do it is faster than those "Fast connect" thingys, especially if they have a high failure rate
Unifi stuff sounds great on paper, but is so bad in practice. You guys must love constantly troubleshooting weird issues and updates that break stuff.
Unifi is all good until you have to do anything advanced / out of the ordinary and then you’re toasted
It's just not the right caliber of gear for a space like that. Ruckus, Cambium, Aruba, Juniper, Cisco, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, EnGenius, Mellanox etc are much more common to see in commercial installs.
They’re just talking about all these experimental features that they’re planning to run in a business, I prefer much more boring business networks
Meraki, arista, Aruba, juniper, Palo Alto
Just equipment you can set up and expect to just work without intervention.
@@nylohro4091 Seems like they also used LC/PC patch panels instead of APC. I'm sure their ISP will be "happy"
Thank you for telling all kind of security details
The access control is a super cool concept. I’m not sure exactly what amenities or programs you’ll have in the building, but the potential is endless.
Say I’m playing badminton and decide I want to go play in the VR room. I just hop on the app, purchase access for $12 a month, and it updates my key in real time. Only downside is you’ll always have the biggest challenge in security, people. Not sure how you’re going to prevent someone from just standing by the door until someone leaves and letting themselves in.
I am a fiber technician and experienced with all ubiquity equipment this was funny and fun to watch 😂
Thanks for letting me know your wife is faster than mine
My brain just automatically said "ofc is better than me"
Appreciate the usage of the Supernova intro, really makes a video LTT for me.
minister of IT in my country should watch LTT. Our government's data center just got hacked last week, and they don't have backup. 😂
That's not really just ltt, having and testing backups is standard practice for at least 50 years now
LTT has come dangerously close to losing their data on multiple occasions now lmao
@@DerekSmityeah, I agree. Unfortunately, the minister and most of the staff are ancient dinosaur (>50) who illiterate and know nothing about IT stuff. 😅
@@DerekSmitI agree. Unfortunately, minister of IT and most high ranking staff in my country are ancient dinosaur who don't understand even basic IT at all.
AND THEY JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THET DON'T HAVE BACKUP!!!
So we just lost 90% of our crucial critical condidential data 😅
HAMMOND!! YOU BROKE THE SERVER RACK - Clarkson Tech Tips
Yup. Slight oversight. We came up with a compromise and are solving the issue.
A good indication of how far unifi are behind proper enterprise kit. We deployed cisco 3802s around 6 years ago with a radio that would switch (xor) into monitoring mode automatically if the band was saturated.
Okay linus stop bragging about your wifi.
With that sort of power, I'd be worried about the effect the rads were having on my nads.
They showed in the video that it can hardly handle direct line of sight lol
The bass in the background of this video made my subwoofer rumble like crazy, especially in the Jake sections
Me watching this with my 2mb a second WiFi: yeah no sh!t 💀
Did Jake loose weight?
16:36 Oi, Linus is going to have his head 8 meters higher than before 🤭😁
Did anyone else read that as "wife" at first? lmao
I read, "My wife is better than yours"
Top comment time?
Which would also be true
Me too
Linus is not "comfortable at high altitude"... so he is not a robot! ! !
My dear Linus! Everyone encounters similar circumstances at one time or another and I see that you seem to handle it quite well, as soon as you return to the technique.
what a shame that I am so far away, this future center seems rather promising
nice try, i'm getting a router better than yours
