  • I tried to use 3D printing to speed up production on a laser cutter. Simple cyclone separator that can be easily printed within 20 hours saves you money on bags and works amazingly well!

    I just build it and for all who are in doubt: it works for the fine sawdust as well. Only minor amount ends up in the vacuum cleaner bin.
    Thanks a lot for the design!

    Bless you! Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for your first cyclone separator files! I printed just the thread section and the motor housing and married them to some formed plastic. Print time went from 12 hrs to 2. Keep up[ the good work!

    When you get a stronger vacuum, you'll want to stiffen the lid of the catch bucket so it doesn't collapse, on my cyclone (an off-the-shelf dust deputy), I use a plywood sandwhich above and below the bucket lid surface which worked very well, you could do the same by extending the threaded portion of your cyclone btw (the threaded design is genious BTW)

    Nikodem, one slight modification would improve the whole rig. Your black tube couplers insert into the inside of the pipes. This narrows the internal diameter of the pipes, restricting flow. If you change those so that the tube inserts into the couplers, you’ll get a better mass flow rate of air through the system! Keep up the good work, love the videos ☺️👍

    Great improvement indeed! and... great colors as well. I'm interested in cyclone separators. Most of them have the cone inside the bucket. Is there a way to keep your design and with minor modifs have it inside the bucket too?

      @@nikodembartnik Definetly looking forward to it but may I suggest lead screws and linear rails for the axis? Most people miss on these 2 things to save cost but than end up with less of a sturdy machine. Just like the WorkBee CNC (something like that I know its bee) where the designer used roller wheels 🙄. Anyways. Whatever you choose its probably gonna be a great project and I am looking forward to it!

    Please make a new one of this 2:56 One that fits around the hose and has a stop in it so that the hose doesn't get sucked into the cyclone separator. I think the flow of air will increase.
    Looks and works great though :)

  • @DavidAndruczyk
    @DavidAndruczyk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Cyclones require high velocity to work well and your input (with your reducer) and output ports look too small to allow a high enough velocity to be able to spin out finer particles. Use your go-pro and pickup sawdust and see what it does to see if it's effective. What did you use to determine your cyclone dimensions (major diameter, upper cylinder section, cone taper, lower cone diameter, center tube diameter and length)? i.e. URI, book, etc?

  • @Rouverius
    @Rouverius 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have printed this Cyclone on my Ender3. Came out pretty good. But I have one Problem:
    The Inlet-tube (50mm Part on the side of the Cyclone) is too short to fit with a DN50 Pipe; the DN50 Pipe is wobbeling/wiggleing and doesn't hold up well caused through the chamfer:
    The sealing ring of the DN50Pipe touches only the chamfer..
    Can you please fix this by extending the Inlet? I think 20mm more would be perfect.. That will also allow to use other adapters easyer without wiggle..
    If you put two original DN50 pipes together, one must be inserted 45mm into the other. So the connection is perfect and strong

    dzen dobry :-) the "odd drill bit" is simply called "circle cutter" - very useful tool, if you get a good quality one... but! you should handle it more carefully tho :-) always use a drill stand when cutting holes with it - the thing needs quite some torque to work properly and if it gets stuck while cutting the setback might easily break some f your fingers or your hand!

    Maybe if you angle down the entery hole a little bit the pieces will fall in to the bucket better instead of turning around at the top.

      STL files are still on thingiverse, I usually don’t share solid files (f3d, step) so I thought it is a good idea to share those on Patreon. I would like to just simply share everything but thanks to TH-cam algorithm sharing projects is getting harder.

      @@nikodembartnik unfortunately STL is a crappy format - everyone knows that :( don't excuse yourself, as I said I don't blame you. Unfortunately if you start Patreon even with good intentions sooner or later you will create exclusive content for those people - it's simple: they pay you real money. In my opinion this harms open source like community by taking out those "young and brave" engineers who want to share knowledge and experience with world.
