Great presentation. I remember logging in to watch the announcement. Just an incredible time to be alive.
Bunch of shameful comments on the video. A scientist has been offered a presentation, they're entitled to be present during the presentation... because it would not really be a presentation. The scientist is entitlted to feel fredback from the audience during the presentation, such as the laughter we hear. It's downright bewildering that any genuine supporter of science or the RI would feel otherwise.

Using the same word that many times in a paragraph is annoying. Stop it.

AN awesome and memorable presentation on several levels.
Firstly, it is the best and most lucid description of the LHC (at least Atlas) I have ever seen as well as a clear explanation of how the particle properties allow detection and in addition amazingly, their measurement and path plotting!
Secondly, Claire demonstrates the separation of mind and body by overcoming her physical issues and use her mind to make her place in the world.
Thirdly, she is a clear communicator and enjoys her work and sharing it with her peers and with folk who are not familiar with her topic. The humour and basic level explanations of some issues were wonderful additions to a technical talk.
Finally, She rightly enjoyed presenting her work as she smiled and reacted to many points in the talk and the audience demonstrated their appreciation (and understanding) which is richly deserved and only attained by being present to deliver her talk her way. Bravo!

for every "negative nelly" here, This presentation was not "pre-recorded", she is obvoisly using a voice synthesizer the whole time, aka "speaking in her own way"
And btw, it was a phenomenally good talk ! i now have way better understanding of particle detectors than i had before !

As someone with a movement disorder myself, Dr Malone is very inspiring. Fascinating lecture. I didnt realise she actually used ATLAS for her Ph. D. I'm interested - the insertable bottom quark layer. Can it be swapped for another kind of insertable layer to detect other types of quarks? I like her style too - strikes me as kind of 80s. :)

This started while I was cooking. I love AI but I hate AI voices in videos and my Autistic mind was quite annoyed by the sound of this. I came round the order and saw her and realized I was faced with a Stephen Hawking type voice situation. At which point my attitude changed pretty quickly. Having faced my own difficulties, I have great respect for people who fight their way through physical and social difficulties. The new context has turned this annoying voice into a great new voice. :) Thank you to this person for making it through some much school and work. I am supposedly smart but I am not well suited for school. An that has certainly gotten in my way many times. Not that I didn't find my way but I envy people who can aim their brain in a classroom. I wish I had that capability. Congrats to this person for reaching her goals. Or at least as far as she has.

y would it take for u to associate the voice to someone for you to appreciate it, especially someone that is handicapped. Does that mean the if she was "normal" you wouldn't give a sht and instead be more annoyed?

@@fktygglbtchbtch1384 There are a lot of videos being created on TH-cam now that are basically of no real value. They are just AI read diatribes with no real meaning. Just rehashing older ideas and information. The result is clickbait titles and marketing lingo that doesn't even have humans involved in much. Those videos are then pushed towards various topics like science. The people or companies putting them out can use that type of production to put out large numbers of worthless videos very quickly in search of ad reveniews. The result is a bunch of complete garbage getting in the way of the stuff that people have spent a good amount of time on. I don't care if she is handicapped or not. I care that a human actually put time into producing something that has some kinds of value to it instead of rediculous time wasters put out in high number in order to catch profits. I think this person is actually trying to enge in teaching useful ideas instead of using dramatic language that then teaches next to nothing.
I certainly respect that she is obviously facing challenges on top of this fact but but I'm not going to give her material a thumbs up just because she has issues. Same as I don't give "normal" humans a pat on the back for just being human. I wouldn't even mind the AI stuff if it were legitimately well written and had something worth pointing out and wasn't usually clickbait that didn't deliver what it's title pointed at.
I worked in media for close to 40 years. I don't like what deregulation of media turned the free press and media system into in America. It destroyed it. The same as the best parts of TH-cam were pretty well laid to waste when Google took it over. I cam on here near the beginning of this place but once Google took over it took a really bad direction for sure. AI clickbait is just another level of that trend.

I get what you're saying, I think we generally have to get more used to synthetic voices that'll be driven by AI models as they become more widely used by people who have various speech difficulties.

If Physicists describe electrons as point particles with no volume, where is the mass of the particle?
Can one extra spatial dimension produce a geometric explanation of the 1/2 spin of electrons? The following is an extension of the old Kaluza-Klein theory. Can a twisted 3D 4D soliton containing one extra spatial dimension help solve some of the current problems in Particle Physics?
What do the Twistors of Roger Penrose and the Geometric Unity of Eric Weinstein and the exploration of one extra spatial dimension by Lisa Randall and the "Belt Trick" of Paul Dirac have in common? Is the following idea a “Quantized” model related to the “Vortex Theory” proposed by Maxwell and others during the 19th century? Has the concept of the “Aether” been resurrected from the dead and relabeled as the “Higgs Field”?
In Spinors it takes two complete turns to get down the "rabbit hole" (Alpha Funnel 3D--->4D) to produce one twist cycle (1 Quantum unit).
Can both Matter and Energy be described as "Quanta" of Spatial Curvature? (A string is revealed to be a twisted cord when viewed up close.) Mass= 1/Length, with each twist cycle of the 4D Hypertube proportional to Planck’s Constant.
In this model Alpha equals the compactification ratio within the twistor cone, which is approximately 1/137.
1= Hypertubule diameter at 4D interface
137= Cone’s larger end diameter at 3D interface where the photons are absorbed or emitted.
The 4D twisted Hypertubule gets longer or shorter as twisting or untwisting occurs. (720 degrees per twist cycle.)
If quarks have not been isolated and gluons have not been isolated, how do we know they are not parts of the same thing? The tentacles of an octopus and the body of an octopus are parts of the same creature.
Is there an alternative interpretation of "Asymptotic Freedom"? What if Quarks are actually made up of twisted tubes which become physically entangled with two other twisted tubes to produce a proton? Instead of the Strong Force being mediated by the constant exchange of gluons, it would be mediated by the physical entanglement of these twisted tubes. When only two twisted tubules are entangled, a meson is produced which is unstable and rapidly unwinds (decays) into something else. A proton would be analogous to three twisted rubber bands becoming entangled and the "Quarks" would be the places where the tubes are tangled together. The behavior would be the same as rubber balls (representing the Quarks) connected with twisted rubber bands being separated from each other or placed closer together producing the exact same phenomenon as "Asymptotic Freedom" in protons and neutrons. The force would become greater as the balls are separated, but the force would become less if the balls were placed closer together. Therefore, the gluon is a synthetic particle (zero mass, zero charge) invented to explain the Strong Force. The "Color Force" is a consequence of the XYZ orientation entanglement of the twisted tubules. The two twisted tubule entanglement of Mesons is not stable and unwinds. It takes the entanglement of three twisted tubules to produce the stable Proton. The term “entanglement” in this case is analogous to three twisted ropes being wrapped around each other in a way which causes all of the ropes to move if someone pulls one of the ropes. Does the phenomenon of “Asymptotic Freedom” provide evidence that this concept is the correct interpretation of the experimental data now available?
