EU referendum: voters from Cleethorpes explain why Leave

  • David Cameron's visit to staunchly-Brexit Cleethorpes saw him being heckled and branded a "traitor" for his stance on the EU referendum. So was that a demonstration that public passions are still running strong?

Sadly a lot of people who were negatively effected by the outcome of the Referendum....
      Weren't allowed to.
There was a difference of 1.1 million votes between Leave and Remain in the record votes.
But about 9 million extra potential voters were excluded from taking part in the Referendum.
Those between the ages of 16 and 18 with more years ahead of them to feel the impact.
EU citizens living in the UK with their EU nationalities.
UK citizens living in the EU with their UK nationalities.
Whilst I do understand the worry over allowing everyone to vote, if they aren't informed.
I would also warn that restricting the electorate is a slippery slope and has rammifactions, such as Republicans in the USA restricting the voting rights of ethnic minorities, black americans in order to sway elections.
I think after we consider the total UK population, its still only about 27% of the UK population that voted Leave. Hardly the massive majority or a ringing endorsement of the Brexit
      project.

The very sad reality of this whole video is that all of the people here are probably good people and all they want is the best for their families and their children. The sickening thing is that the people at the very top know that these good people can barely count to 10 and have no chance of understanding something so in depth as the problem that is being faced. To even begin to understand you would need a good grasp of economics, politics, political science and philosophy and sadly these good people have got none and wont ever likely to have it. The people at the top knowingly understand this but still manipulate these good people.

I wonder how these people (who were told the truth in 2016, as well as the lies they were so ready to believe) think about their decision to leave the EU. Are they yet ready to apologise for the harm they’ve done to our country? Or are they looking for excuses for why they chose the lies? To blame someone else? Or are they still so deluded that they still think they won something? Brexit isn’t just some tragedy that befell us. These people made it happen. They did this to the rest of us. And that shouldn’t be forgotten.

My father who voted to leave told me recently (August 2923) the benefits of Brexit may take another 10 years to become apparent. This is what will happen: The EU will hold together, it will reform in to survive. In order for the EU to hold together it will ensure that Britain is given a bloody nose. There is a massive chance that Scotland will vote for independence, but this is really too close to call. Regardless Britain will be a tiny island right next to a massive trade block. In order for Britain to compete in the world the country will have to have a favourable climate for businesses and corporations to remain trading within it. This will result in lower corporation tax and a further reduction in workers rights; the NHS will disappear, services will be cut including schools and police. The most worrying aspect is the slow decline of the banking industry, this will not be an immediate thing but instead a slow decay of London as a major financial centre of the world. The financial industry in Britain is our only major industry and as it dries up we will see a considerable shrinking of the economy.

Yes or no, if no vote no to the status quo ! I am sure most were aware of what the question was, but had no compunction in ignoring it. They were aware where the answer would go, who it was addressed to. It was a two fingers up to the establishment without any interest in the issue on the ballot paper either way ! Its intriguing but not perplexing , unless you insist that logic is running the show ! Apathetic alienation is maybe the best fit as a description ?
