- Going into the 2002 NBA Draft, The Suns held the 9th overall pick and had their eyes on a High School Center from Lake Wales, Florida. Phoenix picked Amar'e Stoudemire and the rest is history.

My favorite thing about Amare was how unafraid he was attacking the basket. He'd challenge anyone to try and block this yam!!

I remember the hype he got as a rookie and I was all in it. And when I saw how aggressive he was at that rim, I was so happy because he reminded me on McDyess.
That team that year was horrible, although we had stars, the team didn’t have chemistry. Amare was outshining everyone, including my one time favorite Starbury. But boy was I ever happy when we got Nash, because I knew that Nash was a glue guy, and that’s all we needed.

Gotta love all the bluffs, smoke, and mirrors of the draft. Clippers bluffed that they were gonna take Amare, but the Suns called their bluff with a bluff of their own.
The Clippers knew, they just wanted some of the Suns’ assets. If they could have scared the Suns, they would have made an impulsive decision and traded for the eighth spot, but Jerry colangelo is definitely not a fool!

Why were the Suns so desperate to give him away and let him go in 2009-2010?? makes no sense. He had great stats and was young.
Amar'e should of been the number one pick!! Brian colangelo got lucky as sin!! In fact he should be investigated for this back in 2000! Did Brian and Jerry give Amar'e and his agent money under the table! Why? The number one pick gets a huge salary, bonus and endorsements. Hide a player for your benefit! What the sun's did was wrong! Brian got the executive of year reward! Well without Amar'e that day never happens! Steve Nash doesn't return to Phoenix! They traded a franchise player in Kidd a few years back to get in return a nobody in Marbury who was a out right thug!! Think about this the sun's could of got Kobe byrant for Jason Kidd and Marion!! Both of them go to Dallas and win a championship together!! Brian was out of his mind to make that trade to new Jersey! Was there secret money involved! Sun's were in huge trouble!
