Im so happy. I felt so great, when tim burton said: " Whenever you feel strange or weird, you can listen to this music and it makes you feel happy." Because its true! Its true!
Robert Smith has the unique ability to convey a variety of our most deepest emotions through his voice and lyrics. I believe that is the primary reason he has such an enormous and loyal following. His voice and personality has a sincerity that has connected with many a wandering soul. For that reason he has given many lives a voice while making the world a better.
I remember the night it was on live TV in London. And now past its 40th Anniversary in 2018 Hyde Park, and back when I was one of those outside and lost, surviving ... art is free and strong, highest hopes and dreams... so many of my favourite bands following their paths after The Cure ... forever!
My favourite band of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally saw them in Toronto in 2001. Best day of my life, and i have seen many amazing shows but that was unreal.
This was really peculiar. First of all, as a 30+ years dedicated fan of The Cure, I have to say that it is ironic that they achieved this when anything corporate rock was what they used to defy and repel against on their ascent. But I couldn't believe Robert accepted alone, and only thanked Simon, Jason and Porl out of all his past and future band mates. The whole thing just seems so uncomfortable and contrived for Bob. At least they played their pop tunes for a pop crowd. Anyhow, I will shout out Laurence!,Michael, Matthew, Andy, Phil, Boris, Roger, Perry, and Reeves. All of which have contributed significantly to The Cure in their time
I find it weird too, that Robert went up to accept the award without his bass player of 40 years (Simon) and his guitar player of 30 (Porl). I love Robert, but c'mon really?
...the rest of the band was standing onstage like 10 meters away waiting to play Friday I'm in Love. The song started less than a minute after he walked away from the podium. Methinks this was pre-planned and the band was probably in on it.
these were strangely really cool versions of 'friday, i'm in love' & 'just like heaven'... even for me, who is not too crazy about those songs normally,( at least in direct contrast to their older, less happier music), maybe if only for less jumpy, wide cheshire cat smile-esq energy toned down a bit... i still kinda wish they played 'pornography' though....

How can one compliment Robert Smith enough?...... One can NEVER compliment ROBERT and the Cure........ ENOUGH.
Tim Burton and The Cure go so well together
One of the most necessary bands that ever was.
I will always love The Cure still getting me through life.
God his voice doesn't age, so recognizable

I've just seen Noel Fielding talking about the cure and Tim Burton in the same video. This is amazing I am in love.
