He originally applied for a different role entirely but ubisoft loved him so much they CREATED vaas around his audition! he originally wasn't even in the game!
I think Ubisoft mocap director said it so they won't put so much of a pressure on him, from his humble looking I can say he hasn't gone big yet, so in conclusion I think the director had made the right call and just let him do his job. Great and simple psychological thinking I must say.
The original antagonist for Far Cry 3, Ubisoft's character was supposed to be 6 "6". So when he means small he means his height. Which is no where near 6 "6". Hes not small but compared to him he is small, shit a guy who is 6 ft is small to a guy who is 6 "6". That's what he ment by small
Michael Mondo did a fcking great job with Vaas and should have been the main villian in Far Cry 3. That you kill him early in the story is just wrong, Ubisoft main focus should have evolved around Vaas the entire game and not moved beyond him to Hoyt. This character got BIG, the fans loves him and If you see this Michael Mondo, i thank you for you good work making the voice and apperance of Vaas and you just become one of my favorite actors :)
Didn't you watch the video? Vaas didn't even exist until Michael Mando went in to audition. It wasn't about him being the main focus or not. They already had the game pretty much made and went back to add him in BECAUSE he was so good.
Vaas was a more important character than Hoyt but it's Jason not Hoyt that's most important to the story, and Vaas (or rather his death) is a big point in how things go after Jason's last encounter with him
If you wanna see a good series that features Michael Mando, I highly recommend you Better Call Saul, he firstly appears in the first season and has a big role throughout the whole series, but I'm not gonna spoiler anything. Btw, it's a spinn-off of Breaking Bad, so if you haven't seen it yet you might wanna watch it before Better Call Saul. (Both are amazing series btw)
Out of all the games I've ever played, Vass is the best character I've ever seen. The voice acting combined with the body movements was just epic. It made you forget a lot of times that he was just a digital character in a video game. Mando did a superb job at making him come to life.

It can be applied to Vaas with the questioning of the definition of insanity and for trying to kill Jason so many times throughout the game, in both cases, expecting different results and not getting them. Brilliant, absolutely loved it. Fantastic game with an even better villain.
The insanity monologue was badass but for me was the very first scene with Grant and Jason.... He's like to Grant "Shut the fuck up I'm the one with the fucking dick" At this point I was hooked
He said that he felt lucky that he was there, I think Ubisoft is lucky to have him audition for the game.
Wise words.
+1 totally right
i feel like if he didn't audition we would have had a while different character from the vaas we know
cannot agree more

Loved his character. I loved how it was constantly explaining that Vaas was insane through out the game. The definition of Insanity? "To do the same thing over and over and expect shit to change.." It can be applied to Vaas with the questioning of the definition of insanity and for trying to kill Jason so many times throughout the game, in both cases, expecting different results and not getting them. Brilliant, absolutely loved it. Fantastic game with an even better villain.
One of the best game characters. Love this guy!
Vaas is prob my most favorite video game villain and i hope to see this guy do voice acting again
Way to go buddy!
The insanity monologue was badass but for me was the very first scene with Grant and Jason.... He's like to Grant "Shut the fuck up I'm the one with the fucking dick" At this point I was hooked
