Can’t emphasize the comments on weight enough. As a 135kg defenseman I can barely do anything with my edges with a deeper hollow than 3/4” as they bite too much and I find myself constantly catching them. A shallower hollow of 3/4” gives me enough edge that I can turn sharply or crossover aggressively without sliding out without also catching my edges unintentionally.
When I played hockey years ago I was a defenseman and I would get them profiled for that position. But I didn't sharpen my skates every game usually every other or so. I feel it's more of a personal decision for each player.
Hey cidyyx, yep Aimee is correct - $25 for the Sparx machine, $30 for a manual sharpening. You'll need to leave your skates with us for the manual sharpening. Hope this helps :)
She didn’t even show how it’s sharpened and didn’t compare it to nothing so we can get more of an insight on how they fucking work bc the way she explained it has people thinking it’s like gliding on flip flops. Why the sharpener then if it’s not a blade

I used to think professional skaters had blades sharp as knives lol

My local rink does not have a pro shop anymore. I have to use mail service to send my runners to a shop!

I prefer a 3/4" ROH. I'm a small, quick forward with 25 years of roller hockey experience in my 2nd year of ice hockey.
My 18 yr old daughter would like to learn to skate. She is going to use my older skates to try.
Is it easier to learn on dull or sharp blades.
Nah dull skates make you fall easier
9/16 best cut ✂️ 👌 (for me 5'11 ,185lbs)
How much does it cost? (i go to this rink)
$25 for the skate shop sharpening (sparx machine)
not sure about the manual sharpening

1" for goalies hasn't really been a thing for 20 years. Most goalie skates are 3mm steel now and goalies use edges more than ever.
