    started just like that out here in iowa. just a crappy old camper and a little permaculture plot. now we have built a ton of buildings and have 2 businesses, lots of acres and orchards, perennial herbs of all types, its amazing to start with nothing and build it up, your own way! this beats the rat race in every way

    @Lime58films...Soft and very well done...it's a shame there were those that criticised Lammas we on the other hand embraced it.While not so Alternative we moved out bush 9 years ago as a transitional phase to get away from the stress society seems to create , we grow food we buy food we eat meat but the man still want's his bit of our existence by way of tax's.The only solace we have is that I only have to work 2 ,3 days per week at my job to satisfy his unjust greed...4

      There are helicopters which can reach remote locations quickly, and most residents have a car, which is a must in that remote place. Of course, a well equipped First Aid box is a necessity, and possibly a First Aid course as well, plus natural remedies.

    I can totally understand you guys wanting to do this but surely the point of it is to help the planet and feel free? I've looked into the one planet rules, do you not feel abit too controlled by the rules? I wouldn't feel the sense of freedom being monitored constantly. And what if someone with a job like a nurse wanted to live this lifestyle? They would have to quit their job in order to meet the one planet strict rules? I want this life but I'm not willing to be controlled by councils for it.

    • @devonseamoor
      @devonseamoor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No one is obliged to quit their job, when living in Lammas. It's probably a necessity to earn an income outside the community. When I worked for 1 month at Lammas, May 2012, several residents left for a job elsewhere. In general, they were the most sane, in touch with the outside world without turning a hostile eye to it.
      I don't know if rules have changed now, 10 years later, but I would be disappointed,
      when rules are made as dogmas so that all who live in Lammas form a kind of cult.

    I find these settlements idealistic and fascinating, a dream I would live, but they are often in under populated areas like Somerset and Wales. As a Londoner I have witnessed enormous immigration into this small island, it is not sustainable especially as certain people coming in have it in their culture to have massive families. This is never taken into account by the liberal, free loving people that support mass immigration yet expect us to live in a green and pleasant land with it. We are a small island not Russia or Canada….

    What happens when you need £100k cancer treatment?

    • @devonseamoor
      @devonseamoor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Making sure that a healthy lifestyle and exercise are at the basis, is the best condition to start with. Cancer isn't a disease like the flu, there's a long time of disbalance in one's life that leads to such a destructive disease. When it's present, you might try a remedy called Chlorine Dioxide. Some causes of cancer have pathogens at the core. There's a protocol for cancer, with Chlorine Dioxide treatment.
      It's the cheapest remedy in the world, and I've read testimonies of ex-patients too.

    • @lime58films16
      @lime58films16  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi there! We would like to highlight that we are a film company and not the proprietors of Lammas. From what we understood, the pigs were there mostly to provide compost and remove food waste. Many of those within the community adhered to vegetarian lifestyles; however, their decisions are theirs and were not discussed in detail with us. We apologise if this has caused distress but we only meant to portray their world.

      In the grand scheme of things if God/The Creator/Allah/The Great Spirit was opposed to eating meat carnivores would not have been created...ie, lions, bears, wolves, T. Rex, Allosaurus, eagles, snakes, white bass, tuna, etc. To be integrated into Earth's cycle of life includes life sustaining food sources, whether animal or plant. To make a conscious choice to eat only plants is a worthy ideal but should not be forced on anyone by law or by judgement. Until we are able to survive on etheric energy or sunlight we have to sacrifice life to sustain life; remember, plants are living things also.

    This is BS. Look at the water being wasted at 6:04, not a second thought at all. Spouting on about how ppl shouldn't be in cities and everyone should be able to spread out and have their own shambled hut is greedy. There are too many people for this to be sustainable for everyone. Glad its working for you, but I doubt it is as efficient or good in the long run or for a large population like you seem to think.

    • @lime58films16
      @lime58films16  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi there,
      During our brief time with the people at Lammas we spoke to them and whilst it may seem like a large gap between their way of life and ours they promote a lot of smaller ways to improve our relationship with the environment (utilising renewable energy, etc) and this does not necessarily translate to everyone needing to move away from cities; it won't be for everyone. We're glad you are participating in the discussion, however - all opinions can be valid!
      It is also good to note that this a documentary and so is merely a portrayal of this way of life and does not intend to act as a means of persuasion - only as a observation and a platform for discussion on alternative living.
      All the best,
      -Lime58

      No one says this is a sustainable solution for everyone. The UK will always be a country with cities of millions. However, there could be thousands of eco-villages not unlike this one. It is a lot more productive than the sheep grazing it replaced. As for wasting water... it's their own spring in west Wales, the water returns from whence it came!
