A lot of the younger generation has never seen this before I'am 66 yrs old and I have seen 3 eclipses in my life. Is to get real windy today for oklahoma and sunday and I think clouds will be coming in sunday because we are to get storms after the eclipse.
Hi Max! 🙋🏼♀️ Well since I’m not permitted to drive anymore due to a plethora of medical conditions, I’m stuck in the 97% totality, which is better than nothing! I did see a total eclipse when I was very young and have to say it was the coolest thing ever! It became so quiet and the crickets began chirping! I guess it is worth a road trip to those who haven’t experienced it, but not at $800 and more for a room! Thanks for the update!

We’re driving to Little Rock from NC! Looks really good for Conway. It’s probably fine for Little Rock, too. We drove to the 2017 eclipse - there was about 60% cloud cover for that where we were, and it was still amazing.
There are people from 26 countries here for the eclipse on Monday, lol. I live in Indiana where we were to have almost the perfect view. Oh well. It is what it is!

Cloud cover is fine - if you can see the bright spot where the sun is, you’ll be able to experience the fall into darkness. Heavy precipitation/thunderstorms is the only really unfavorable weather for this. We had mostly cloudy conditions for the 2017 eclipse and it was still amazing. The sun broke out of the clouds right at the end of totality which was absolutely wild.
I traveled to Danville , NY from North NJ it took 5 hours to get here. Hoping to beat the traffic and hoping there will be bar;ey any clouds. I may need to take the trip up to buffalo yo get a better chance

Thankfully the Red Sea parted for most eclipse viewers on the path. North east Texas, Arkansas, Ind, I’ll, Missouri, Ohio all saw relatively clear skies in comparison to the pessimistic, bleak forecasts we’ve been hearing about for 2 weeks. Unfortunately Mother Nature got her revenge by unleashing a hellish, massive rain and hail storm here Texas just hours after totality. Thank god the weather waited a few hours. The eclipse was awesome.
Just an FYI: Cape Girardeau .. soft G.. ends in 'doe" .... gir -ar-doe... at least that's how I learned to say it from my grandparents who grew up in the area.... looks like here in Texas it may be a big nothing burger for looking upward... need the rain tho.
I've read this is actually a once in 200 year event for the US due to the distance of the moon away from the earth being farther away causing the ring we see at totality to be wider. Sorry to anyone who is going to miss it due to clouds. Thank you Max for your detailed forecast giving people the best information they need to be in the right area to see it.
Anything short of solid, heavy cloud cover with precipitation is still fine for a total eclipse. It’s still wild even if you can only see a bright spot.
.seems like it's generally overlooked that cloud cover will make a far greater dark sky over a wider region......it's far worse that it can't be seen.....

The reason why people do is because it doesn't happen often. Giving said the next Solar Eclipse in the United States won't be until 2044 and 2045, 20-21 years from now.

I always wonder where the moon starts and ends like the direction. The moon travels I try to picture it. I can tell when it starts. I'm guessing it enter the suns surface at Texas then moves towards New York just like the shadow travels. I often wonder I've seen the moon lots of times in the daytime. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often than it does.

Doesn't make sense to me, also can never find the moon before or after the eclipse anywhere in the sky , we should see it some point even an hour or 3 before or after but didn't see it at all.

If you are in a brightly lit stadium at night, you can’t see stars and probably not the moon, for the same reason. If it is a baseball game, and you’re seated fieldside - if the ball is hit into the upper stands, you won’t see it unless it passes between you and a light.
