    This is an excellent summary/analysis. I agree that it's not a play that was crying out to be written. I consider it a shadow and partial retread of part 1. The hijinks between Hal and Falstaff seem especially forced and not particularly funny.
    That being said, the ending is brilliant in terms of the resolution between Hal and his father, and Hal's rejection of Falstaff. Otherwise, the play seems to be a lot of ruminations on justice, honor, and societal position. It's actually pretty good, but I feel that it overstays its welcome.
